People say this about every owner. They said it about Roland and then he appointed a succession of managers like Peeters, Robinson and Bowyer who regularly moaned in the press about not having enough players. They said it about Sandgaard who stuck with Bowyer despite him having a very public meltdown in every direction then appointed Garner who regularly moaned about not having enough players. Fans of other clubs say it about their owners too but no matter who is appointed the second a manager isn't doing well he'll moan about not getting exactly what he wanted in the transfer market, it's self-preservation. I honestly don't think apart from Karel Fraeye who isn't a football manager there are any 'yes men' in football. Put it in a bingo card, we'll be hearing it again and again as long as there's a Charlton Life.king addick said:

Forget Scott Parker. No chance is he dropping to League One.4
-
I'd like Parker to get the job but only on the proviso that the comms team overlay The Streets on any video/audio interviews he does.4

Please stop talking about Scott Parker

Did your family get you a Parker 7 shirt for Xmas just before That Transfer Window too? Yeah.Garrymanilow said:Please stop talking about Scott Parker7 -

Agreed, he did himself no favours with that moan. O'Neil by contrast knuckled down and quickly got another PL job when Bournemouth sacked him.2 -
Works pretty well for most other clubs though. Managers have become expendable so this way of doing things means you aren’t too reliant on the manager.Danny Addick said:

Also means it’s easy to replace players and managers that move on, look at Brighton, Luton, Brentford etc they’ve lost players and managers and easily replaced them and continued to improve by using this kind of set up3 -
Mercifully that summer I was the happy recipient of a Di Canio 11 shirt. I still have that one, it's an obscure football shirt afficionado's dreamLeuth said:

There’s also that clubs are more and more progressing towards having a system of play from youth through to first team. Eases progression for each age group towards the first team squad. That makes it very difficult to appoint managers who want to play something different. It’s a system that works well abroad and I think the days of managers like Curbs who controlled a club from top to bottom are long gone.1

What’s Rafa up to these days? Club should still have him on file from when Sandgaard tried to get in touch. What do we have to lose?5

I would much prefer when the manager runs the football side of things and is allowed to get on with it, with no interference.Covered_End_Lad said:
I actually disagree, surely a manager who gets no say in what players are given to him can't be expected to make them all perform.fenaddick said:

If a manager has got the sack from a previous position, he would only take another job if they are better off financially as they are still getting paid a salary from their previous job. Di Matto turned down the Boro job as he was getting more from West Brom who had sacked him1

In a way it was much the same then, except that Curbs was effectively the Head Coach AND the Technical Director.
I can't remember, but assume that the academy and reserve teams would have played in a similar style to the first team.0 -

Right, Scott Parker. If he comes, I go. It will be my last season. It's not even that I hate him, although I do.
It's because he's just a little bit thick. He lacks every skill set a decent manager needs. Inspirational qualities; tactical nous; luck; man management skills; leadership; and coaching skills. He has none of these in my opinion and have I mentioned that he is a dullard?
In addition, with his choice of cardigans, it would be impossible for any player to look at him and not laugh rather than take him seriously.

If he lacks all the above he must at least have had some luck seeing as he's managed to win two promotions.cafcfan said:Right, Scott Parker. If he comes, I go. It will be my last season. It's not even that I hate him, although I do.

I agree with your second and third paragraphs, but surely anyone who made it through the Fraeye era isn’t going to stop supporting the club because of a shit manager.cafcfan said:Right, Scott Parker. If he comes, I go. It will be my last season. It's not even that I hate him, although I do.

My view on Parker as a manager is deeply affected by how he ended at Bournemouth. Threw the club under the bus after the Liverpool game, and was shown how wrong he was by what Gary O’Neill did after him. Just gives me the feeling he isn’t emotionally mature enough when there are difficult times10
-
I'd be surprised if Parker was even an applicant. Yes he's got 2 promotions but the stint at Club Brugge and the end of his tenure at Bournemouth went very badly.
Another one I don't think would consider managing below the championship.1 -

If Parker riles up our fans than yes like Lee Johnson I want him in1

I’m pretty certain that we’d have heard if Scott Parker was in the mix. Be shocked if he accepted a third division job. Having said that. For those of you saying “I’m done” if x,y or z comes in, can I ask you to close the door behind you. What a pathetic and entitled nonsense.36

I think we do know Parker is in the mix, read the comments from people who have previously proved to be ITK. No one has directly said it but its been strongly hinted at.ShootersHillGuru said:I’m pretty certain that we’d have heard if Scott Parker was in the mix.
