I’m sorry but why do we think bowyer will be the savour? Are we simply going off that year which we got promoted? Seem to remember towards the end of his tenure the football was absolutely dire and toxic but guess we aren’t remembering that?10

Please not bowyer14

It was the end of the season before and the start of the season after too. Those 2 years are pretty much the only good 2 years we’ve had since about 2014 so yeah pretty much000__Jaaaaay__000 said:I’m sorry but why do we think bowyer will be the savour? We were utterly dreadful before he left. Bizarre team selections and constant tinkering with the lineup...000__Jaaaaay__000 said:I’m sorry but why do we think bowyer will be the savour? Do you think everyone has sussed we are a bottomless pit of unrequited hope and a pitiful example for the worst ponzi scheme in English football history?2

Best period we’ve had during the chaos years (2014-present) not even a debate.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:I’m sorry but why do we think bowyer will be the savour? What is with our inability to look further than our old playslips11

Yeah probably, think he had a really good squad as I said earlier, someone like Dobbo may improve under his guidance as we saw with Cullen and Aribo, but I don't think he's a great manager overall.JamesSeed said:

I think certain players will thrive under him but I'm really not sure, whelmed if it's true1 -

Rich Cawley has a direct line into Bowyer. If anyone can confirm if this is a goer or not it’s him.3

That team had a lot of rubbish in it in fairness, and we were still nearer the play offs with Bowyer that year than we have been since thenhoof_it_up_to_benty said:

Lee Bowyer said he would only go back into management on Radio 5, a few weeks ago if there was a stable management behind the scenes after his experience at Charlton and Birmingham.
IF he came back, he might want it to be interim to see if the fans give him a good reception and can he work with Andy Scott and WTF is happening with the characters putting in the money.
If we can start winning on a regular basis the negative noise will quieten.
Red Henry ITK mate used to have a hot line to Lee Bowyer ?0 -
Good thing overly frugal Holden is gone then!DubaiCAFC said:
You have to enquiry to be able to put a deal together! Never said May is a problem, point is Holden got who he wanted! The Red Robin said:
Enquiring and having a deal ready are two different things. As we found out just yesterday with Darren Ferguson. May is a good forward in this league and isn’t the problem.DubaiCAFC said:
Smith, Lapo, JHC, Nombe, Stansfield was all ahead of May, and we enquired about all of them before we signed May!Scoham said:
Who were the better options available than May?DubaiCAFC said:
Certain set of fans been against the group from day 1 and always going to say that.. Holden just cost 500K to sack.Major said:
How is that possible, if the 'Skint' brigade are to be believed?DubaiCAFC said:
I believe Richardson is on the shortlistbalham red said:Leam Richardson, Darren Moore, got promoted with the highest spending teams.
Those fans, also believe Holden is blameless. For me, it is both parties, we haven't got enough players through the door, that is either because we haven't sold the club well enough, or didn't want to work with Holden.
Holden wanted a smaller squad of around 16 players, plus academy players coming through, he got his main man in May, despite better options being available to sign.
Not sure many clubs in league One have spent as much as us this year in transfer fees, loan fees or signing on fees.
Suppose the next appointment and the type of contact, will suggest if they are skint or not!
To be honest, we knew right from the start, they wasn't going to be spending millions and Holden wanted a small squad with academy players coming through!
As I mentioned, lets see what the appointment is, and who the two loan players are.
It sounds like the floodgates can open with the transfer spending now.
Listen to yourself for goodness sake.11 -
Think back to him initially coming in, he got the best out of a team heading for mid table and got them into the play offs with the exact same players Robinson had been using, exactly what's needed now getting the best out of our under-performing team.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:I’m sorry but why do we think bowyer will be the savour? I thought Bowyer was fantastic the year he took us up but it gradually fell apart, and we played some dire football under him at the end. Plus his treatment of the young players was pretty dire. Not expecting the club to consult me, but I was hoping for a new model, not this perpetual going back to ex players.4

Which young players did he treat badly? Other than Albie Morgan who he called out a couple of times, he brought through plenty of our young players and developed/improved them. And did very well with young players we had on loan alsoken_shabby said:I thought Bowyer was fantastic the year he took us up but it gradually fell apart, and we played some dire football under him at the end. Don’t quite know what to think if it’s Bowyer. Such a strange character to read. Can be thoughtful and supportive one minute and snarling and brooding the next. I will say that he worked under very difficult circumstances last time and by the end of his reign when things were bleak I think he might have just had enough. I think if things go reasonably well then he might be very good but if things go badly at any point I think the darkness comes down. He’ll certainly tone up the fitness levels which as far as I can see is definitely needed, but quite what he’ll make of Chuks I can’t imagine. Fwiw I’ll be surprised if it is him. 7/10 on this one from me.1

The guy lived off a period where he was given Gallagher, Bielik, Taylor, Cullen, Grant, Aribo to work with.
He's not doing the same with this lot.5 -
Can see it now “welcome back Lee”….first signing……Lyle Taylor. “Fuck off Lee”13
-
Seriously hope it’s not Bowyer. His record is poor, and play offs aside, let’s not forget how it ended last time, or what he’s done since. Has he really got the temperament to develop a team of youngsters? No keen on him as person either, although I could live with that if I rated him as a manager14

So maybe bowyer is good at spotting good players then? Surely he’s allowed some credit for that.SELR_addicks said:The guy lived off a period where he was given Gallagher, Bielik, Taylor, Cullen, Grant, Aribo to work with.

Hope this is true. There are definitely bad things about Bowyer as a manager, but if anyone can unite the fanbase and get us to forget what’s going on upstairs it is him.Chippycafc said:Someone has just text me and said Bowyer has got the job...Even him coming in and winning a couple of games would transform the feeling of the club and fanbase. Get him in before Saturday as Fleetwood at home is as easy a start you’ll get
Would Bowyer unite the fan base? I don't think so, a large number wanted him out.3 -

Half of 'the youth he helped' came through under Robinson or out on loan but Bowyer gets the credit.4
