Amazing how Leyton Orient have kept five successive clean sheets, winning four and drawing the other, including victories over Portsmouth and Bolton. We can’t manage one clean sheet.
5 defenders 3 midfielders who all look more defensive then attacking and 2 strikers. This silly cock manager is doing my nut in. Why cant we just play a 4-4-2 diamond. New defenders through the door and we play ness and terrible Thomas ffs
Thomas was easily the best defender today. Has been good the last few games as well.
Agreed, I’d drop Jones, Ness and Watson Tuesday replacing them with REG, Gillesphey and Assimwe.
Just worked out why he's called Reg (or is that REG)
All the optimism over our new signings blown away after 90 odd minutes. Makes no difference who we sign with this clown in charge. Get rid now and give the new bloke a chance to see what's needed in the summer
The definition of madness, according to Einstein, was "... doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting a different result" .
What you are asking for here, according to Einstein, is madness.
The second things go wrong in toxicvalleyworld is a cry to sack the manager. Appleton has proven he can bring success at this level. He isn't the problem.
Appleton has been doing the same thing over and over again since he got here. Namely overseeing awful performance and results. By your thinking he must be mad too.
I think Alfie's 50 yard run tracking back to challenge their marauding striker near the end that resulted in his yellow card was very, very telling. He doesn't think that his team mates are putting in enough effort to stop the goals, hence his tackle that even Curbs and Browny said, should have been a red.
It really wouldn't surprise me if he puts in a transfer request, rather than play under Appleton for another game.
Much as he loves scoring goals, I'm sure he'd rather be scoring them for a team that wins when he does!
Even though we made the ridiculous decision to let him go .. cbt man of
the match today. Conspicuous by his absence. This sale will prove much
more costly than the money we got for him (which probably covers the
floodlights bill!)
Ascore: 4 AMB: 6 Jones: 4 far more fault for the 1st goal than Ness. AND he missed another good chance Ness: 5 Thomas: 6.5 played well today T.Watson: 4 Coventry: 5 Dobson: 5 Bakinson: 6 Edun: 6 very good first half May: 5 Ladapo: 5 decent hold up play, shame about the spongefoot shot Referee 5
Agree totally re Jones. Ness lost a header which happens. Jones didn't
have awareness of the threat after that, Thomas had their no 11 so he
had to go closer to their scorer. He gave him the space for the shot. He
didn't read the defensive game in a similar way against Port Vale for
their late equaliser. (sorry to post this here but had to comment on a
good point).

You can pronounce it Reg as in short for Reginald but I’m giving him the courtesy of capital letters for his christian name and double barrelled surname 😉
Every Time I listen to that moronic wankers post match summing up of our latest pitiful display it sounds just as repetitive as the one before. TIME TO SAY GOODBYE 👋 !!
If we’re going to make a change, whoever comes in need to be extremely well versed in playing a back 3!
We do not need another manager, favouring a back 4, struggling along because he’s got an unbalanced squad, not having all the tools or winging a system he doesn’t really like. Then we’d have to wait until the summer to re-balance the squad…again!
I believe Pearson & Rowett favour 4-2-3-1 Duff 3-5-2. (Happy to be corrected if wrong)
This is one of the worst performing squads in charlton’s history and major surgery will be needed whatever. Next appointment needs to be the right one for the long term, not based on what formation suits this shit show of a group!
We could temporarily replace him from within. I think whoever it is would get a better response than we’ll get from him. It’s all toxic now. He must go! I can’t see any alternative. Today was a new low. Get rid now and let’s move on from him.
I would not be averse to giving Pearce a go as he has not proven himself to be bang average yet. But I don't think that is likely in all honesty given the investment.

I’m against it. I want Pearce to have it when he’s ready not just because he’ll get the fans onside. Seems like he’s a good coach/manager and if nurtured well, let him learn his trade
But we all seem to be clamouring for another Appleton which is what we will get if/when we sack him. Promoting from within seems to be more successful than any other approach from what I have seen over the years.

Quite right, it could kill a blossoming career if he had to pick up this poison chalice
Judging by Alfie's very fortunate Yellow, which could have easily seen a Red tackle late on, and his demeaner after the final whistle, ( he was VERY riled up and pissed off) he has just about had enough of us, so don't be too surprised if a transfer request goes in Monday. It could be Apples or him I feel, he was SO fu*ked off, nothing would surprise me...🤷♂️
Abysmal. Sign whoever and praise this regime as much as you like, if they don't sack him, we may as well not sign anymore players and they're the problem to me until he goes.
The worst Charlton manager in modern Charlton history, to those of you who stayed behind and clapped that shit off, I fail to understand why you did.
They shouldn't even receive a glimmer that all is well.
If we don't sack him, February could be that month that secures relegation almost, terrible month of fixtures.
the only enjoyable thing about that game was that I was back home to Manchester by 18.30! In the first half I thought we played reasonably well. Their goalie made two excellent, and two good saves. Bakinson was matching the Brewers physicality in midfield, and we were well up on posession stats. Then Jones allows their striker to drift inside and score a goal. Second half was awful, lost battles all over the pitch, they played deep, and found it easy to negate any attacking threat we had. We had about four corners in the second half, and I was hoping that with the more gifted players signed in January that the delivery would improve. However all four were abysmal, none of them threatened the Brewers defence. I probably think that Appletons time is up, but I do question some of the chants being sung by the Charlton fans. There is a balance here to try to encourage our team, and also to try to show the displeasure with the current manager. So songs like 'we're fucking shit, we're fucking shit ' is aimed at the team. Along with ' How shit must you be, you're only winning two - nil, again aimed at the players. To my mind these chants put more negative pressure on the footballers playing for our club. There were chants speciffically aimed at Appleton, about him having his hands in his pockets, and other chants wanting Appleton out, which again I don't disagree with. I don't really know how to rconcile these differences, perhaps the singers should go back to singing songs about players that are performing, eg is there a Bakinson song? He was the standout midfielder in the first half. It is all so negative at the moment, and I'm just concerned that the negativity towards Appleton is creating chants that are hitting the players on the field, whether they are playing well or not.

Must be that excellent squad they are renowned to have, after all, all the fans I spoke to (approximately 10) said to me how shit their team is.
A half decent manager would get results with these players.

Appleton has won 5/20
seeing as its the same Board that will be do the hiring (again) do we trust them to get it right this time.

Carlisle are spending money.
We are a long way from safe having played more than many behind us and not won in 9 league games, most against the weaker sides.
February fixtures look awful.
Lost Tuesday and the new players will dry up as no one else will want to join.
It's most definitely the worst Charlton season in my 45 years of fandom.
Yet there's still people on here having a go at fans who dare to question the club.
