Whatever happened to supporting your team through thin and thinner 🙄
Thought the late seventies was thin , the early eighties was even thinner.
The premiership years didn’t go to many matches.
But bad ownership after bad ownership and manager after manager is just making us the laughing stock of the EFL.

Whats more you just know without backing the next manager moneywise  it isn’t going to get any better.

With all these 'failed managers' being mentioned, I'd rather go with Pearce and see how it works out.
Thing is Cowley (if it’s him) isn’t a failed manager. He’s known success and seen relative failure but he’s pretty much exactly the type of manager who we could reasonably expect to attract. Bigger names are not dropping into Division three especially to a club that is perceived and seen to be in a maelstrom. The only other options are similar to Cowley like Appleton or an up and coming Division four manager. Might work out or it could go the way of Garner. Either route is a punt.

Agree totally so why not take a punt on Pearce and if that doesn't work take a punt on one of these or whoever is available at the time? Two punts for the price of one surely.
Pearce has been in full time coaching less than two years and always effectively under supervision. That’s not even a punt compared to someone like Challinor or Richardson. It’s the cheapest of cheap option with a ready made fall guy. Having said that it’s worked before.

Pearce has played 513app in the League many of those games at CB and many as captain where he organised defenders around him.
Not saying he should get the gig but he really isn't inexperienced when it comes to making decisions on or off the field.

Not sure if Jason will be available for long as he is wanted by the England rugby team who are also in a right old mess as the tackling coach, as they noticed no one got past him without hitting the deck with two arms firmly around the body.

    Sad really.

Is this what we have come too ?  No disrespect to any of the teams or their fans but interviewing managers at Stockport & Northampton is not my idea of success.

SE7 Partners have been in charge for 6 weeks & things are starting to unravel already.

    Utter shambles.
  • If it is done and it’s Challinor I still think they should announce today and get him in the dugout on Saturday. It’s a free hit against a really poor side, if we don’t win then he hasn’t been there long enough, if we do win he’s off to a great start

I've heard Brady's a bit of a long throw specialist too
  • Might just as well let Pearce have some games and see how he goes
  • Just hope Challinor or whoever can bring their backroom staff with them too.

Holden | Garner | Adkins... None of them have been able to select their own staff.
Notice that Challinor's Assistant is Clint Hill - Hopefully he can sort out Defence out.
  • Have Stockport lost a lot of players this summer? They’re currently 19th in L2 after finishing 4th last season, one place off 3rd which would have meant two consecutive promotions.

Apparently massively plagued by injuries at the moment. I haven’t fact checked it but one of their fans said in his last 12 seasons as a manager he’s only failed to make playoffs/get promoted once. He does also have a great win ratio wherever he has been

I disagree. These are exactly the type of up and coming managers we should be looking at.

Fresh ideas, know the !ower leagues scouting for bargains and a defined system of play.

Far better than reverting back to Bowyer, Powell etc. Happy for Atherton too tbh
Fingers crossed he’s more successful than Garner if he’s our new manager

Up and coming managers from L2 like Ben Garner went well #justsaying.
    NB Brady is 48 & Challinor 47.

Harder and harder to do when the owners treat fans with such disregard.

I know it doesn’t mean much, but Cowley dropped from 3/1 to 10/11 overnight
    He'll fail the medical.

    Reportedly done?

Where?  These accounts using the word “reported” when it’s never reported anywhere.

    This
  • Who is leaking the message that managers in work like Ferguson, DC and Jon Brady are in the frame?
Presumably not coming from their clubs, who wouldn’t want to knowingly unsettle the manager.

Would think he can with Senda and GK coach already paid off. Hayes might stick around you probably do want some continuity and someone who knows the squad well
  • Will Challinor bring Will Collar with him, the midfielder who played very well against us last season in the cup !? Scored too

Let's be honest there will be fault to be found with any appointment. Too dull, too inexperienced, wrong formation, been around too long, not been around long enough, has baggage...etc.
I think this is due to none of us being excited by a new manager coming in given the current state of the club and how the new owners have gone about business so far. It's not a situation we wanted to be in at this point in the season so our approach to it as a fan base is bound to be negative and we are going to question the decision regardless.
I think it's good that we appear to be casting the net wide and some of the names mentioned are at least prompting some thought and discussion.
I don't want Powell or Bowyer back - it's not a personal thing I just think they are worth more than walking into a mess and potentially failing. If I'm going to get frustrated and angry on a weekly basis I'd rather vent it towards a stranger than either of those two.
  • Alfie mays shrunk another 2 inches??
  • Nobody really knows if this will be a successful hire or not but other then CP, on paper Challinor seems the best from who we have been linked with.
