I know it's been said before - but whyrun a night race in November!! I've been there for my birthday in November and had some nice sunny days (never that warm) but absolutely freezing once the sun went down. Seems a bizarre decision - September or even October would have been far better.

If there is only Commercial aspect there wont be any interest in the sport, and there wont be anything else for the Commercial aspect to piggyback on. The racing has to come first, or its all just froth.
I am old enough to remember when there wasn't all the huge money sloshing around, when you could start off with a off the shelf Cosworth, sponsorship from Rizla and compete. Drivers wanted to race then, and most would now. There were fields of 30+ cars for each race, (admittedly some of them were shit, and there were appalling renta drivers [Johnny Carwash anyone?]), and packed grandstands. But I cant remember James Hunt having other jobs except his Budgies.
If you really think that having unknown Rappers (and their bodyguards) and Joe Smoe from Cocomo, wandering up a packed bling filled grid is beneficial to motor racing fair enough, but I, for one am not convinced.

So, its probably nice and handy that all these punters, without any of that distracting track action to watch, have some spare time on their hands and Casinos to fill.
I am probably in the minority, but I'd quite like them not to be able to sort out the problem and the race is abandoned, with the Las Vegas race cancelled thereafter, and Liberty having to refund the exorbitantly expensive tickets.
Who is this race for in the end? Not the fans shelling out thousands to watch a race at 2am local time.
Not the drivers having to race at that time of night either, on an incredibly fast circuit with virtually no grip and hardly any run off.
It's all for Liberty, and I hope a drain cover blows up in their collective faces

I get your point of course (especially for the drivers) but i doubt many of the people going to watch care too much about the timing.
Some fans hung around just in case the did do a second practice session. They were kicked out of the stands at 1:30am, before the second session started, for “operational reasons”. That is pretty piss poor, and just shows how poorly the paying customer gets treated. As most of them had a 3 day pass, it’s unlikely that they’ll get any refund.
Honestly found Qualy a lot more entertaining than I initially expected. Track is better than Miami or Jeddah for that matter but I do wonder how much overtaking we'll get or if we could get another race where DRS is too powerful
