  • So what will happen if they are 3 or 4 down and the spanners start to leave? Will the ob keep them in until the final whistle?

That was not on the meeting agenda.............this is Charlton playing at home :-)
  • And what about arriving at the game? With it being an early kick off loads of people will be arriving at the same time.
  • Suggesting that up to 18,000 people delay their journeys by crowding into a small area (North Lower kiosk area) which has been designed to hold a maximum of 3-4,000 isn't just stupid, it sounds very dangerous also.

How much would it cost to keep the lads and lasses that work the kiosks in the East/West/NU on for an extra hour, make beer half price (or cost price, whatever's more) put the highlights of say the 1998 game on the big screen and soccer Saturday/live prem game on the TVs in the kiosks ?
  • The club is run by plonkers.

  • Actually, the rain may well be the policeman's best friend tomorrow. Does wonders in stopping trouble.

    Agreed

  • heard we have given the Millwall team the home dressing room on police advice

they are not saying that you have to go to the North stand bars area, you can turn right and walk if you wish and of course those of us that exit the East stand out the top exit and up the hill look as if you can continue to do so.
  • So Smallwall win---its written and will happen----- are the OBill gona push them out ? they will want to gloat and give it billy big bollox.
when we are several goals down----we cant get out.

So we stand there for God knows how long and listen to the scum taking the piss "wembelyyyyyyyy wembley"
    "milllllllllllll-bollx"

i hate this fixture with a passion.

Love that the Police are all powerful and can boss everyone around, change fixtures, you name it, but there's one thing even they can't change SOUTHEASTERN RAIL

Made me laugh too! Have they only got a 30 minute slot to put these 'special' trains in?

Sounds like a Police overtime jolly this little exercise. Logic says it will take more plod to move 16000+ Charlton fans around the ground than it will to hold back 3000 Millwall and escort them to the station once it's clear.

    I
  • I can understand why people are pissed off BUT in this situation you have to focus on the main objective: Get those 3,000 cocaine snorting, Burberry wearing, wife beating, Stella drinking, BNP voting, tower block dwelling, Sun reading, benefit claiming, drug dealing, 'tooled up', Jeremy Kyle show guests OUT OF OUR GROUND AND BACK TO THEIR HOVELS AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.

Seriously, having to play host to Millwall is like having a sex offender burgle your house, the whole experience just makes you feel grubby and in need of a long, hot shower.

    Magnificent.

Have just sent it to my Spanner supporting client - who of course is off to Wembley in April from here, despite NEVER having visited the New Den

  • if there's loads of trouble tomorrow, then god knows what 'crowd safety measures' they will put in place next season

Unless we meet them in the cup, we won't be playing them next season.

  • heard we have given the Millwall team the home dressing room on police advice

Also Wiggins and Solly as they are better than the defence Millwall have.
  • Not surprising but still disappointing. The majority eat s**t due to the actions of the minority. Sadly I can see a lot more trouble between the Met and fans than between the fans themselves.
  • My Millwall season ticket holding colleague has suggested that the police and our Club have kindly allowed us to sit and reflect about our sins in throwing seats, flares and smashing toilets at The Den and that as a result our behaviour will be better in the future.

The footballing equivalent of the naughty step.

  • Couple of questions.
If we want leave 10-15 mins early would we be allowed to?

Why is there no segregation required for same number of fans arriving at the ground?

The queue for beer at half time is horrendous even when majority stay in their seat, what actions are they taking to avoid overcrowding?
  • As for people saying the club have the right to protect their property. You're right, they do. They can also manage the situation inside the ground, but we all know the snatch squad will be conspicuous by its absence tomorrow. All those "geezers" who enjoy pulling out lone Derby, Hull et al fans won't do shit tomorrow. They will stand and watch Millwall giving it in the East and West and will stand and watch seats getting trashed in the away end. The ob will do the same.

Upshot, piss off your own to perhaps protect the ground and as I have already said have your cake and eat it. If the club were that bothered it could have been a restricted allocation and or a similar "bubble" arrangement made by Leeds.

Dress it up whatever way you like, but this is an insult to paying customers and actually equally as importantly, hugely embarassing

Blimey, reading this as an outsider looking in, its just a tad OTT isnt it?
Spurs & Ars*nal can mix together quite happily home and away without any of this...ok, there's the occasional police escort back for the Goons back down the Tottenham High Road to Seven Sisters but never anything quite like this...

    Perhaps I'm missing something obvious?

Millwall and Charlton ain't Tottenham and Arsenal. Charlton have an element that come out for games like this, and Millwall have a widely known element. Police are going to try overkill this, but these actions are ridiculous, if it were me.. cram them in for 20mins and let all the families home etc.
You seriously think that Charlton v smallwall is ever more volatile than Spurs v Arse ?

I am staggered by this decision. absolutely staggered. Essentially the law-abiding, well-behaved majority are made to suffer simply to deal with the percieved threat of a smaller group of people who will probably act like twats if they come too close to someone who support charlton.

Perhaps there is police intelligence to suggest that a large scale outbreak of unrest is planned for tomorrow? If so I can understand the arrangments. That said, i still would not accept them. It is just an admission that the authorities are not confident that they have the plans, manpower or will to deal with it. This is unacceptable, and should be to any member of society. The job of the police is surely to protect the law-abiding majority, not to treat the small percentage of idiots with kid-gloves and make them think they are superior. That is the job of the army of counsellors, therapists, psychologists, social workers etc etc that get involved once these idiots have been dealt with harshly (but fairly) by the police and the justice system.

All this decision says to me is that the police and the club and the local authority are scared of Millwall and their fans. This is quite frankly, embarassing and all involved in it should be bowing their heads whilst they are waving their white flag out of the toilet window they have locked themselves in to avoid getting beaten up by the beastly millwall ruffians.

I left when the 2nd went in, the gates were locked then.

Because, the entire stadium doesn't arrive within the ten minutes before a game.

However, the entire stadium does leave within the ten minutes after a game.

The line about not wanting Millwall fans to miss their trains is an insult. When we were held back for an hour at there place a couple of years back that wasn't considered an issue.

Nothing like alienating your own fans whilst catering for the needs of a visiting team.

    Absolute bollocks.

Clem has this spot on .... the line about the train is an insult
Unfortunatly, the more noise/fuss you kick up, the more you will get noticed/what you want.
No room for "nice guys" anymore in this world.

Right so let's find out exactly which geniuses came up with this idea, and how their brilliant minds worked.

I just posted this request on the Freedom of Information Law site (you can all follow the correspondence there, that is the purpose of the site)

    Dear Metropolitan Police Service (MPS),

In respect of special arrangements put in place for this fixture (
    http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/20130...),
please supply me with the following information:

    1. Minutes of the meeting which took place between the police and
Charlton FC safety officials on 14.3.2013 (according to the Club's
    website, link above)

    2. Any and all other documentation (letters, emails etc) which
relate to the decision to keep home fans, rather than away fans
behind after the end of the game.
  • Prague, they are not keeping home fans in after the game, they are re-directing them (and inconveniencing them).

You're right, my mistake. But they will still have to supply the meeting minutes. I can change it on the site.

You can leave when you want, fans aren't being held back. But you won't be able to go up Floyd rd to the station or along Ransom walk

To be fair what they've done is a dressed up way of locking the majority of home fans in.
