As much as i hate the bloke he's steadied a sinking ship, got them on the verge of Wembley and also into the 5th round of the FA Cup.
We all know football has gone crazy but talk of him losing his job to me seems ridiculous.

yeah but with £3m to spend in league 1, I'm sure most could've done that !!!
Hope they don't sack him yet. Would be too easy for him to blame it on an impatient chairman who didn't give him time to complete his masterplan and the psychological effects of the 10 point deduction. They ain't gonna make the play-offs so I'd rather they waited til a couple of months into next season when he's had a chance to squander a bit more cash over the summer, completely decimated any team spirit there and taken them towards the relegation zone. No excuses then.
Without their points deduction they'd be 5 points off the play offs, 3 million spent inc Rckie Lambert at the start of the season. That is not great and can understand some frustrations, if it was anyone else but Pardew I'd say harsh and give him time, but as it is Pardew. If they sack him, it will be no loss to the game.
Also the view that he got them to Wembley should work in his favour, it is the JP ffs, no one cares!
but if they sack him they might go for a better manager like parky and that could derail our promotion campaign just as we are about to turn the corner
He may have spent 3m but apart from Lambert, most of the money was spent last month. Fonte, Seaborne, Puncheon and Barnard have only been there a couple of weeks.
Admittedly I'd question why he needed to buy so many players when they were seemingly doing well anyway, but even the harshest Pardew critic must admit they're good signings for this level and we'd happily have them in our team. I think it'd be very harsh to sack him.
I think they'll be strong favourites to win this division next season, even with Pardew as manager.
Not sure what to believe. I've not exactly been in 100% support lately as we've not been consistant enough. BUT we managed to pull out a fantastic performance against Norwich and another today and we don't need a change in manager yet, I was hoping the board would judge him come January 2011.
He today seemed a bit annoyed in the interview after the match and rumours are he had left the stadium by 5:15. In his interview he seemed to thank the fans for being fantastic.
5-0 and up to 10th in the table and still have games in hand. Tranmere away this saturday then they've got Leeds and Swindon at home, so it looks like we'll be hoping for more Southampton favours in the next week. And these rumours of Pardew going, 10 goals in 2 games and a Wembley final coming up, i can't see him getting sacked just yet.
The other disturbing thing is that Southampton's stuffing of Huddersfield is v good news for Millwall, now on level points with a game in hand, ready to leapfrog the Tykes into sixth place ...
[cite]Posted By: Kap10[/cite]Not sure about favours from Pardew, I suspect they keep winning and we'll get them in the play off semi finals
I still think they'll have to win almost every game to get into the playoffs. Can't see it happening.
Win their 2 games in hand and they're 8 points off with 12 games to play. Yes they'll need to win most of them (probably 9 or 10 out of the 12) but it's definitely possible.

They only have 2 games in hand on Huddersfield (6th place, played 34, 58 points), not Millwall (7th place, played 33, 58 points). On one of the other threads there's a stat about average number of points needed to come 6th in the last 10 seasons, would be interested to see how far Southampton are from that.
I don't think Southampton will make the play off's Too far behind.
Basically they have to win all their remaining games and hope others in front keep losing, possibly but unlikely imo
They are also playing with nothing to fear and nothing to lose. Unlike the rest. If they did get nearer the play offs then I reckon they'd start to crack under pressure.
I think baring a miracle Norwich are now at least assured of the play offs . Leeds must be close also.I'm sure this will become mathmatical before Easter.
Look at the BBC Predictor thread . Like others on there I put Southampton in the seventies points wise.
We just need two of the five to have a run of bad form which could see the saints through . As is said Barnard , Lambert and Puncheon are excellant players in League One . Let's hope they do us favours V Leeds and Swindon and then start to fade.
I still think it is a big ask for them , but I'm afraid its possible

I agree i can see them flying this year but still not making the play offs. I think next season when the pressure is on them to get automatic promotion they'll struggle a lot more.
As we all know - Pardew had a cracking eye for a good League 1 player, difference is between us and Saints - we were in the Championship when he was buying them for us and was paying them Premiership wages (although I doubt they're on a a pittance at St Mary's these days).

I don't think we will struggle next season, but I kind of agree with you.
Whoever is in this league next season, whether yourselves stay down here or Leeds/Norwich do - Saints will be the favourites because we're the 'money club' of the league. It'll be up to Pardew to make sure the pressure doesn't get to the players, especially the younger ones.
It will also be up to the owner/manager to say no when teams come bidding for Lambert. No doubt a couple of Championship teams will be thinking about him in the summer.
I'm already going to say the play offs are dead for us, just seems like the players are taking one game at a time - if they finish inside the top 6, great. If they don't, the fans won't care - aslong as we gave it a good shot.
You have to question AP's judgement today a little, he just said Leeds were the best team in Div One, I think Norwich would disagree there, the Harding subbing sounds a bit dubious, and not noticing that Tranmere were cutting off the supply to Puncheon knowing he was the greatest threat today, should have been addressed by a change of tactic in the second half. Also criticising a Referee at half time seems a bit daft, it may have influenced his second half decisions somewhat

Same source from when i started this thread
They're not going to get relegated
Alan Pardew is their current manager
3 reasons to change now and give someone a good look at the squad to decide what needs changing over the summer perhaps?
Especially if they have a cheap owner who bought them whilst they were in administration
Three goals Lambert, Barnard, Puncheon £ £ £
Great performance from the lads.
