After yesterdays defeat it looks like Saints are out of the play offs but will have an influence on who makes auto and who makes play offs. Pardew interview contains his usual everyone else is to blame comments, should get hauled up by FA for referee comments.
It is true what he said about the referee though, it was never a penalty in a million years. I just hope we get the rub of the green in our next match vs Leeds.
But if we had took our chance we wouldn't have been moaning about the referee. Same old Saints, beat one of the better sides in the league 5-0 and lose to one of the strugglers.
The play offs like I've said is out of our hands. It won't happen. I just want the players to enjoy the rest of the season and the JPT final.
I have a feeling that Pardew will be gone if we fail to make the play offs, which would be a massive mistake. I'm not 100% confident he is the correct man for the job, but he deserves to be judged in January 2011. If we're in the auto picture stick with him, if we're outside the play offs, find someone else.
My biggest worry is that we will lose players like Rickie Lambert, Dean Hammond, Adam Lallana and Morgan Schniederlin in the summer.

If he has approached the job anything like he did with us then the players you name will struggle to earn anymore than they are already on below the Premiership and are they good enough to play there?
We paid a winger £5k a week to rot in the reserves for more than 2 seasons thanks to Pardew and we presently have a full back surplus to requirements on £8k a week thanks to Pardew.

We doubled Lambert's wages, so he is on about £10,000-12,000. Well worth it though.
Rickie Lambert would easily make it in the Championship. Very suprised that no one ever wanted to take the chance on him while he was at Bristol Rovers.
Morgan Schniederlin/Adam Lallana have been very nice to watch this season but were a disappointment last season in The Championship. I suspect we will have a couple of Championship/Premiership clubs looking at them because they're still young.
Just out of interest Charlton fans, what does next season mean for you? If you stay down will you struggle/administration as it was suggested in the summer, or were they just lazy paper rumours?
[cite]Posted By: Saints fan[/cite]Just out of interest Charlton fans, what does next season mean for you? If you stay down will you struggle/administration as it was suggested in the summer, or were they just lazy paper rumours?
imo yep we will struggle cos the higher earners/better players will leave and what's left will struggle .....
as for admin the so called lazy paper rumours are probably a bit closer to the truth than anyone would like ...
Our directors put £7mill in this season to keep our head just above the water line but have said that they have no more money to put in,so if we fail to get promotion we will gointo admin somethime next season. I can see potentialnew owners waiting for us to gointo admin and getting us on the cheap, maybe even if we do go up.
We doubled Lambert's wages, so he is on about £10,000-12,000. Well worth it though.
12k a week in the 3rd division well worth it my arse thats why you got in trouble last time, will you lot never learn, you wont even make the play offs this time round and if a bigger club that is in the chumpionship or the lower levels of the prem come in he will walk,
No one in this shite league should earn more than 3k a week tops
i think that we are over paying a fair few of ours as well by the way
I have it on good authority that Lee Barnard was all set to sign for us in the transfer window and it was a done deal until Pardew offered double the wages.
With his financial clout he should walk this league next year - only a very very poor manager wouldn't be able to do that

If that is true then i am gutted, really thikn he (& Puncheon) would have made the difference between playoffs and automatic.

My understanding wa that he had already been announced as a Leeds player.
[cite aria-level=0 aria-posinset=0 aria-setsize=0]Posted By: Chris_from_Sidcup[/cite]No way is Lambert on 10-12k a week in this division.
Would it really surprise you though mate?
nope and it doesnt shock me that the big nosed prize plum is offering it out, i dont like the saints never have they are a no mark club that is a stain on the coast, and i hope that pardew absolutely ruins them a fool and his money are easily parted and anyone paying 12k a week to a 3rd division footballer needs to be banned from football forever under the fit and proper persons test
Lambert has spent all of his career in leagues one and two at clubs like Rochdale and Stockport, so i'd be surprised if he was on 5-6k at Bristol rovers, especially as we're talking about our top earner being on 8k and we're a huge club compared to Bristol rovers.
I'd be more likely to believe he was on around 4k at Rovers and they doubled it to 8k. But no way is he on 12k in league one.

No it isn't why we got into trouble. It was because we wouldn't pay Aviva or Barclay's any of the money that we owe'd.
£10,000-£12,000 was just my guess, all I know is that we doubled his cash, and it was well worth it considering Rasiak was on around £9,000 here. Why not pay an extra £1,000 a week and get a striker who is much better?

Funny enough he was set to sign for Leeds before we offered a player that Southend wanted to the deal.
Why you got into trouble was by paying ridiculous wages. Skacel, Rasiak, Thomas, Euell, Davis and Schneiderlin were all around ten grand a week. No doubt you even paid rubbish like Lee Homes way too much. We've been there and probably a bit more at times, but it was covered up by the prem for a while.
You owed Aviva and Barclay's the money because numpties like Burley were happy to overpay and then waltz off. All those wages were debt right from day one. Pardew's already doing his best mini-Redknapp impression of over spend, and running a nice big defecit. No doubt if he stays on for next season he'll want to get Austin and Paynter in for 'whatever it takes'. I'd be surprised if your owners will be happy to run such a big defecit out of the champ for two seasons.
Still he seems to have stabilised you, as he should in a div which is god awful in terms of quality. Why else would our pampered pros be hanging on to third in the table?

Schneiderlin isn't on £10,000 a week. Nowhere near. More like £4,000. Thomas isn't nowhere near £10,000 a week either. I would love to know where you got that pathetic information from.
We could easily afford the down payments of our players until Lowe came back.
We owed Aviva money for St Marys, in the end they got that money even though it was supposed to be paid off over a long period of time.
We seem to have a load of clubs in League One who always mention the fact that we spend money to buy our players - Shall we just give all those players back, get all the money we spent back and focus on certain relegation? The side we had at the beginning of the season wouldn't have lasted in League One.
What people forget is that we made £2.5 million from player sales in the summer, maybe they went some way to spending the amount we have?
By who? He's doing ok because they had some decent players and he could buy more decent players from this league and the Championship. Eventually, even if it's 3 years time, it'll stop working for him.

I'd hardly say it's working now, even if you gave them back the 10 points they lost, they'd still be outside the play-offs.
He's doign a crap job and I'd be amazed if they didn't get rid in the summer, with the amount they've spent, even losing 10points should have made the play-offs, let alone not making them WITH the 10 points.

Pardew, you're a joke of a man.
Their fans seem happy enough, was more talking about next season they'll probably go up through being able to spend far more than anyone else. People say we have a big wage bill so should be higher, but Southampton should easily win the league when they can just go out an spend £1m+ on players, and with that the sort of wages to go with the fee.
ands its gonna be hard next season with maybe Leeds (I now tip Millwall to go up 2nd), Palace coming down, then you will have Birghton with a new ground and Southampton. Next Season is gonna be tough !!
but when pardew was splashing the cash for us and we thought we should pee the championship , the charlton apologists were out in full cry with the we're still 5th and he's got a 2 year plan chuff .....

he's got a two year plan at soton!
looks a good saints following there
the sad thing is if we don't go up we know they'll finish above us next year comfortably ;-(
matt le tissier certainly rates Pardew - he just said he's the best manager in League one. pratt
