He is not bothered about us, he is simply (as a mate once described him) a player collector. He always wants one more and when a rival shows an interest in a player he snaps them up to stop them going elsewhere, with the money he has available he will soon have the biggest squad in the history of the third tier
I seriously suspect that Pardc*nt is doing it deliberately - as soon as he knows we are interested in a player, he goes in for them. Same with Ricky Lambert and a couple of others, I think.
However, his inability to keep them all happy and deliver on the b*llshit he spun them when they signed will mean it will all start to unravel soon....
You were interested in Rickie Lambert? I don't remember hearing that one...
[cite]Posted By: kinveachyaddick[/cite]don't think there was ever any serious likelihood of us signing Barnard
looks like Pardoo has gazumped Leeds which could be a good thing for us
how much has he joined for Soton for anyway?
Between £175k - £200k. I think Leeds offered the same but we tempted Southend more by allowing one of our players to complete his move there.
And i don't actually think we were seriously interested in Barnard anyway.
Money talks. Southampton can pay more so they get the man. In the same way that Lucas Neill chose West ham over Liverpool, why else would you go to Southampton instead of Leeds?
[cite]Posted By: Chris_from_Sidcup[/cite]Weegie - when were we interested in Lambert?

Pretty certain I read it on here in the summer before Soton signed him. (But with hindsight probably just part of the takeover hype at the time...)
[cite]Posted By: stackitsteve[/cite]Pardoo now interested in signing lisbie apparently!!! how many strikers does he want???
Old news.
That was a rumour which I think has been put to bed by us signing Barnard.
One more signing this week, who looks like he will be a midfielder. Stock from Doncaster would go down nicely but I doubt we're stupid enough to pay £2m for him.
[cite]Posted By: BigRedEvil[/cite]Pardew will just do what he did to us, sign a load of players but none get used to playing together.
Well our starting 11 throughout the whole season has roughly stayed the exact same.
[cite]Posted By: Scoham[/cite]They've got about 8 centre backs as well. Like BRE said he'll probably do the same as he did here. Do they have a beat 11?
The one thing he has done differently is together some experienced players in.
Not many managers out there that love signing players as much as Pardew.
We only have a huge amount of CBs because of all the crap former managers have brought in. Nobody wants our rejects like Lancashire because they're not good enough. Pardew has only signed Jaidi, Fonte and Seaborne in the CB role.
I bet you'd have 54 points spending no money rather than 39 points after spending £2-3m as well....
Yeah, but I don't mind staying here for another season. If we fail to go up after next season with the money we've invested in the team it would be a case of question marks over the heads.
I'm actually really enjoying League One football, last season we went through a terrible time as a football club. Just nice for us to actually win a number of games, I would have took -10 points for a positive owner who has aims for the club. Something Rupert Lowe never had.
Its all good for you and Norwich looking to make a return to The Championship at the first attempt but both teams would need investment to avoid coming back down imo. A second season in League One for us could do a world of good imo.
If they don't go up via the play offs this season then (assuming Pardew doesn't try to sign another 15 players in the summer) i think Southampton will walk this division next season
Sounds very familiar! Pardew is an impact manager. Always has been, always will be. He always starts well because he signs a few players, has everyone believing he'll achieve great success (including himself)and then completely cocks it up. He did this with WHU and us and he'll do it with Southampton.
In including u18s we have around 40 players or so. Southampton have around 60. We'd like a few more if possible, but that many can't be a good thing. Can't be all Pardew's fault, but if he's there this time next year it'll be interesting to see if he can cut it down much. Or will he continue to sign players he doesn't need as they have the money to do it.
[cite]Posted By: Chaz Hill[/cite]No instant success for SuperAl with his 'loads a money' transfer window signings I see. Another draw yesterday. Looks like wheels have come off a bit.
Wonder what the Saints fans are thinking. Must be disappointed after being the only ones with real cash to strengthen their squad.
not fussed any more - more concerned about our situation
Yes, I think we cannot forget about Soton for this season.
There is only a very slight chance of them making the play offs now. They are farther away from the top 6, than they were when the season started. To make the top 6 they would need to produce automatic promotion form and get the results ie win nearly all of their remaining games. I think they can only afford to drop about 10 more points and I can't see that happening.

Just because he made mistakes at Charlton doesn't mean he will do it here.
His signings so far have been class, I bet even you'd have the likes of Fonte, Jaidi and Lambert in your team.

There's more chance of us winning the league.
