To be honest they are the perfect side to loan Dickson to, never going to trouble the play offs and will ultimately prove too strong to go down. Would mean if he is scoring for them it will be against potential rivals. Çant we call him back and let saints have him? With a clause not to play against us obviously.
[cite]Posted By: BlackForestReds[/cite]I think they'll stay up - they have the finance to buy in a few players in January if they are still in trouble, I doubt that any of the other teams at the bottom of League One and will have anywhere near the same resources.
Agree with this, but they'll need to the money to someone with a more consistent record in the transfer market than Pards, to spend.
If they're going to sign 6 players in January to dig them out of a hole then they need to make sure all 6 make a big, positive impact - like 'Arry did at Pompey a few seasons back. If they're Pardew scatter-gun signings it's just as likely that 1 will be a Therry Raconesque diamond and the other 5 will be a mix of Andy Gray and Lee Cook.
1 month 19yr old winger loan in, who will barely see the first team.. just after he stated he needed a striker (on loan), perhaps a goalkeeper, defender another coach then 2 more strikers Pardew? and let me guess, you want more fans too?
Pards signs another, although TBF he could be good as I thought we may go for him. Looks like he's been wearing a balaclava and camouflage :-)
Southampton have completed the capture of former Sunderland striker David Connolly on a free transfer.
The 32-year-old, whose last appearance came for The Black Cats in January 2008, has penned a contract until the end of the season.
That deal would be automatically extended by an additional year should the former Republic of Ireland international make a certain number of appearances.
Manager Alan Pardew feels he could have one of the bargains of the season on his hands and has challenged the striker to recapture his best form.
"David is keen to show that he is ready to kick back in," Pardew, who managed Connolly at West Ham, told the club's official website.
"I believe in him and my staff all feel that we could get one of the bargains of the season, but only if David comes back to what he has achieved, and what he could do before, because obviously he is a Premiership player when he is at his best.
"He's not played football at this level for about 18 months through injury, and one in particular, but he has been training undercover with us for about three weeks and he looks in good shape.

[cite]Posted By: falconwood_1[/cite]If Connolly gets fit and stays fit, he'll bag a fair few goals. He was a player I wanted last year but he's always injured.

Sadly for Connolly his best was a good 4-5 years ago.
[cite]Posted By: Atletico Addick[/cite]Their wage bill must be laughable, double sided page in their programme for their squad next match ...
I doubt they're too worried about that with their new owners. They do also have a lot of players who've come through their youth team so they won't be on big money yet.
[cite]Posted By: dabos[/cite]No such thing as too good to go down in the lower leagues, especially with -10 points and Pardew at the helm.
Agree but on their current form (1 defeat in 8) i think they'll soon start to pull away from trouble. The likes of Wycombe and Tranmere are far worse. They've got a lot of new players who will take time to gel but the likes of Lallana, Lambert, Jaidi, and that bloke from Fiorentina should see them comfortably in mid table. As WSS said they'll be a threat next season if we don't go up.

The likes of Wycombe and Tranmere have both just sacked their Managers so their fortunes might now change as a result.
Well a good win for Pards and his boys last night! Wasn't so long ago Southend should have beaten Leeds at home. Looks like the 2 year plan is coming together :-)
Pardew is apparently favourite to win Octobers manager of the month after 4 wins and a draw. Hopefully the curse will strike and they'll be out of 2 cups by wednesday night.

That's because you have no one that wants to ring it, Alan my friend...
Funny how he's got a few players he doesn't want being paid, but he'll double that amount in new players to get in, with double the wages.

Plus he doesn't seem to mind when he's doing next to nothing, and raking it in.
Somethings never change.
Southampton have signed Reading's 19-year-old winger Michail Antonio on a one-month loan deal.
Antonio, who has made two substitute appearances for the Royals this season, joined them from non-league Tooting and Mitcham United in October 2008.
He goes straight into the Saints squad for Tuesday's visit of Torquay in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
Antonio, who scored against Southampton's reserves last month, joins initially until 2 November.
