Tbf with Pardew - we were robbed against Stockport, had a clear goal ruled out which would have been 2-0 to us. Had another penalty ruled out. These things happen - still the teams fault that they were unable to keep hold of the ball for an extra 10 secs.
[cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]Mind you, Southampton are presently just 11 points from safety.
They've only got 41 games to save themselves.
Can they do it?
When you have someone called Papa Waigo - anything is possible.
Being serious though, the defence looks like one of the best on paper - so going by paper we should stay up. Shame football isn't done on paper.
Only 1 week till our game, got to say I'm looking forward to it. The Valley is a good ground has imo the best away stand in League One.
[cite]Posted By: Covered End[/cite]So this week's pre match excuse is that Colchester have a new manager :-)
It wouldn't suprise me - We never seem to win when a team have appointed a new manager.
[cite]Posted By: stilladdicted[/cite]Cue time for the Loan Arranger, just to show the players that they need to prove they want a place in the team? Or is it too early yet?
Good point, Still Addickted.
Now that Pardew has managed to mastermind Southampton to just a mere 11 ponts from safety, it's almost time to destroy team spirit totally ........ by replacing his totally committed players with loanees who aren't even as good llet alone committed as the players they'll be replacing.
Another day - would have been a 6-0 home win for Saints. Defence was soild which can't be said alot when talking about a Saints side - central midfield was also our strong point. But everywhere else was a massive LOL!

Not surprised it can't be said a lot, not often it's soiled. ;o)
look forward to seeing you down at the Valley SF, the whole stadium will be ringing with boos after the match, few thousand of you booing the team, fair few thousand of us booing pardwash. :-)
I may lump a few quid onto Saints to win - the odds will be attractive, and it's one bet I'll be more than happy to lose. Gargling twice a day all this week to make sure my voice carries to his dugout.
[cite]Posted By: charltonkeston[/cite]Averaging less than a point a game. Pards needs to bring some players to freshen things up.
He has though, all of his signings have been great imo.
Lambert - one of the best strikers in the league in recent years
Harding - seems like a championship defender. The first full back we have actually had since Bale's departure!
Hammond - A rival teams captin with experience in this league
Trottman - Another player with experience in this league
Jaidi - Was apart of the best defence last season in the championship
Papa Waigo - Seems very highly regarded back in Italy and we've needed another attacking player to support Lambert as Paterson is poor, very poor.
Jaidi and Papa didn't play today - clearance issues but hopefully they will both make their debuts next week.
We're playing very well as a team, it just seems scoring is our problem. This is mainly due the fact that Paterson and Saganowski are very poor strikers but at the moment we have no other options!

We won't take a few thousand to The Valley on Saturday.

Pardew's main party trick ...... taking good players and making them sub-average performers.

Only at Charlton, nowhere else.
Even a West Ham mate I have said Pardew started a bit slow there but when the team started to gel - they were playing beautiful football and getting plenty of wins.
Trouble is - Our team needed to gel from day one. . .
I've got a few West Ham fans amongst my mates, and at the time they were in the Championship had nothing but scatheing criticsm for Pardew's team selection and tactics.
Both seasons they just scraped into the playoffs somehow, having massively underachieved all year with random team selections - and players bought on the principle that if you buy enough players, by the law of averages 1 or 2 might come through.
He struck lucky with Harewood and Reo-Coker (remember them, where are they now?). But was carried by a couple of senior Pro's like Teddy Sherringham and Chris Powell.
Credit to him for a fantastic first season back in the Prem, a 9th finish and an FA Cup Final they were desperately unlucky to lose. But the next season the wheels soon fell off, amidst disruption and unrest and allegations about extra curricular activities not approved of in the Bible.
At Charlton, he at first inspired a flush of optimism but without the conviction to carry it through.
After relegation from the Prem, he set about rebuilding the side principally by spending hugely inflated sums on lower league players - or paying hugely inflated wages for the Championship on Bosman free transfers who just signed up for the money.
The exceptions were mainly Parkinson's old warhorse Iwelumo, and a trio of young unproven Europeans: Moutaouakil, Semedo, Racon ... the latter 2 who are now our midfield engine room, plus Nicky Bailey from Southend.
These cheapest players, possibly on lower contracts, ultimately proved to be his best signings - but he was clueless how to get the best out of them.
But after our most creative and influential player Andy Reid was sold, he replaced him with the underperforming Gray, and a myriad of loan signings who were never interested in making any impact at all. The result ........... the finances and spirit of the club was wrecked from within.
You've got all this to look forward to at Southampton.
Errrrm, it's Saturday night so you may have had a drink, but you may recall match after match at West Ham where they were an easy touch, where their defensive organisation was atrocious (the famous corners), and generally terrible results. If West Ham was beginning to gel (and remember they reached the cup final previously) why was Pardew got rid of? He has that quality where you think he is nearly going to get it right, a bit like the Americans in the Viet Nam war, owners have to come up with an endless supply of last pieces in the jigsaw, and it's never enough....but in the end the main dynamic is the fact you have a billionaire owner, and Pardew has got the length of contract that will lead to a very juicy pay-off....if Southampton do well, Pardew will do well, if Southampton do badly, Pardew will do well!
[cite]Posted By: Off_it[/cite]How many games has Pardew had without a win now, including his time with us?
I sincerely hope we spank them next week and wipe that smug look off his boat.
I reckon at the moment - you could hammer us. Hopefully Jaidi's permit comes through in time as I will feel more confident of it being a lower scoreline.

Unless you sit behind the pillar.
Haha, good point. I have been lucky not to sit by one.
No!!
I dont wanna be smug with playin them next week, but still not won, still rock bottom - and by some margin!!
he has a two year plan give the guy a chance

Who writes his script ..... ?
Where have I heard that before. lol
I can't see too much goodwill about.
Well, they are bound to raise their game coming to play the team at the top of the league :-)
Think some of our boys have got plenty to prove to Pardew and hopefully the Southampton players will be totally p'd off with him.
Keep the faith!
Charlton should easily win Saturday.
Not surprised it can't be said a lot, not often it's soiled. ;o)
