"So if it's not Di Canio ..... WHO is going to get us off the bottom of the league?
"Suggestions on a postcard, please."
Right, had enough of all this rumour and uncertainty.
I'm going to apply for it.
I'll take Henry as my assistant manager.
Who's up for the role of coach?
Anyone got a medical background? - I'm going to bring in my own physio too.
I've a first aid kit in the car and was a first aider in the "Cub Scouts"
Hold on everyone. Paulo Di Canio? I don't think we knew his politics before he went back to Lazio and published his auto b. Now that we do know?
That's aside. Alan Curbishley had hold of our club when it wasn't great and went on to make it punch way, way, way above it's weight. Happy times they were, no stars, just good honest players. No Parky's not the man, he's part of the set up that took us to where we are now, Di Canio, for a few different reasons, isn't the man.
Curbs is available, we should be talking to him and if we're not, hell mend us. He did it once, he can do it again, even with this bunch of players and he too, will bring names with him.
I cannot see, apart form our pride, which as a previous contributor has pointed it, should allow all manner of unsavoury historical characters in the chair, that we're not baiting for Curbs. He should be the answer, and we should gamble some money and take a risk on getting him in, otherwise our inevetable slide toward footballing ignomy will be complete, and Millwall will be a division above us. Do you want that, do you, do you?
Alan C, Alan C, Alan Alan Curbishley, he took us up to the Premier League, Alan Curbishley.
I don't want Di Canio to be Charlton Manager, not because of his links with fascism, not because it just would not work but because he is clearly welsh. Now don't get me started on the welsh the good for nothing close harmony singing coal mining stupid accent know it all barn pot people rugby rugby rugby welcome in the hillside land of our fathers rubbish.
If you want to help the welsh in their quest to take over the world then carry on with your really quite weird and a little disturbing desire to get the welsh wizard Di Canio as Manager of Charlton Athletic Football Club. Name a really great welsh manager. I rest my case.
OK, here's my grand management structure that I'll set out before the board at my interview (with the help of powerpoint, DVD and disco ball)
Director of Football (with cardigan) Henry Irving *Essentially a watching brief. No input into team selection - sorry Henry but I did offer you Assistant Mgr. You can do some scouting or something??
Assistant Manager Dazzler21 - brings some youthful exuberance to the role.
Coach Oggy Red - 'got red in his surname and the club in his heart' as it will say on his car park space at The Valley.
Physio T.C.E. - almost over qualified. We need to snap this kid up before the big boys come calling.
I propose that we take a vote each week via Charlton Life on team selection and daily coaching themes.
This is going to be hugely successful.
So much so that once I've (I mean we've) won the play offs, and Premier League clubs come calling, I'll be off.
Didnt people who served in the 2nd world war do so to enable people the freedom to believe in what ever they chose Ralph and not be bullied into a different view
How a football thread can go from football to rAcism to Facism to World war sorrow infuriates the hell out of me.
If you want to bang on and on about the blokes politics start a thread away from this one so that i dont have to read such bollox

To be fair the politics came in very early on and were then deleted but included references to salutes and how good it would be to piss off all the lefty Addicks one of who was named.
Don't think Ralph was bullying anyone, just putting his view on why he didn't want a fascist boss. That's his view.
Didnt mean for it read that Ralph was trying to bully those into a different view i intended it to read that those that fought in the war did so so that they wernt bullied in to a different view, henners
if someone wants Dicanio it doesnt make them a facist sympathiser thats what got me goat up it is like you have to justify your reasons as to prove you dont believe in those ideals just that you think he actually may be able to do a quality job
To many of the threads on here lately get dragged away from the subject matter
Not saying anyone who wants him is a blackshirt, I'm not and I can see why he could be a good boss, but it's legit to mention his politics just as some people might be worried about what Rothko said about his, allegedly, singing republican songs and donating shirts to dodgy causes while at Celtic.
Don't believe it myself but if it was true a lot of people would question if he should be Charlton manager.
True, Di Canio is loved for his 'craziness' but is he really a manager?
Makes me nervous to think of him in charge. We're not relegated yet by a long way, but some people seem to want to take a punt on 'something different'.
My worry is that Di Canio comes from the same school of management as Ian Holloway. Media hero but supporters stop laughing when it starts going badly wrong.

It's your new role.
Edit! Forgot the feckin smily thingy!
)

Blame Heath Hero doen't have the same ring to it as Blame Andrew Mills.
So, no.
(sorry RM, couldn't resist)
