  • One by one we are all coming round to the idea !

Anyone that is capable of giving the club a lift is welcome!

There are only probably two people that could do it, One being Curbs but that has already been ruled out, The other being this man, He transformed us in his one season here, look how the players reacted to his presence, We don't have a team full of premier league has beens we have football league players that will be as mesmerized as i was back in 2003.

No doubt in my mind if Paulo got the job every single one of us and everyone associated with Charlton will be given that lift that has been required for a few months now.
  • It's like when Bush bailed out the American car industry the other week.

If you listened to him making the announcement , it was very interesting because he's a rabid, right-wing free-markeeter and so it went completely against the grain. Hence there was a long preamble in which he said 'I believe in the free market, it's the best solution 999 times out of a thousand, under normal circumstances I'd never countenance this, blah blah blah...'

Then he said : 'But these are not normal circusmtances. We stand on the brink of total catastrophe' - and he effectively announced the semi-nationalisation of GM, Chrysler and Ford, a move that even a few months ago you would have dismissed as less likely than Elvis being found alive living in a Routemaster bus on Mars.

Well, that's where we are right now, isn't it? Under normal circumstances, you wouldn't let mad bad Paulo anywhere near the manager's desk at Sparrow's Lane. But these are not normal circumstances. We stand on the brink of total catastrophe etc etc etc...

Bring him on...he may just be the only chance we've got.
  • Oggy's bright idea time:

We're all agreed we need to clear the bad energy and lift the place.
Can't we just get him on loan as a player for a month, even if he's too past it to play?

Just to give Phearful Phil a motivating hand - and bring a buzz back to the club?

    Cost - 1 month's wages.

    ;o)
  • PDC PDC PDC PDC PDC
  • Agree but its too late methinks
  • we is gorn...
  • never 2 late.

PDC and Sir Chris or Steve Brown

even if we go down its one of the few things that may keep the gate /support on side.

    PDC PDC PDCPDC
  • Would love this to happen. So what if he hasn't got the experience, just his manner and reputation will be enough to improve us. What managerial experience did the likes of Southgate, Di Matteo and Paulo Sousa have before taking their current jobs? Klinsmann and van Basten went straight into national team management without experience.
Every manager has to start off somewhere.
  • It won`t happen. Parkinson will stay until /If we fail next season in division one.

  • It's becoming more and more of a poisoned chalice as each day goes by....I 'very' much doubt that anyone of note would take the job on now.
  • Now Phil has been given the managers job I doubt we can even afford to sack him. He is with us for the rest of this season I'm afraid. 18 league games without a win....I can't tell you all how low I'm feeling about my club. :-(
  • I wouldn't want him to come to us now in a championship relegation battle but maybe in the summer if we get relegated or even stay up!
  • Of course it's too late to stay up. But the board needs to do something - even if it's only a gesture - to get the fans back on side.

If not PDC, they need to come up with something else to show they still care, despite the fact that all they really want to do is sell the club on.

Otherwise I thnk the atmosphere at the Valley is going to turn very nasty over these remaining nine home games.

Even i'm resigned to defeat stubley - accept it we are going down but with pride (as fans not management players or board decisions that is!)

    Bang on.
  • Paolo and Chrissy - works for me - and they have more chance of attracting players to us if we go down

get him at end of season !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lift the crowd for the new season

someone who will comand RESPECT from the players

someone who will be 100% full of comitment

daft as a brush and huge huge gail of fresh air through the club

  • Paulo Di Canio

    Paulo Di Canio
  • Totally agree. What we need now is someone who turned his back on Charlton as a player and has no pedigree, qualifications or experience in managing.
  • Yeah

    Exactly Chizz that's the spirit!
  • how about PDC as manager and we have won but played very badly--- he is then interviewed by radio and its Nigel Winterburn-- Nigel " the bys were rubbish today PDC"

    PBC to Nigel " boooooooooooooo"

view Winterburn dropping the mic and arse falling out his trousers as he runs up tunnel screaming in fright
  • or we can stay with proven people like

    Dowie
    Reid
    Pardew
    Parkinson

who couldnt do PDC`s boots up
  • exactly GH he has passion and will strike fear into the players...
  • Board wouldn't take such a risk. Another club might and it could turn out very well or be a huge mistake.
  • Should have invited him over as guest of the club at a match.

Introduce him to the crowd at half time for old times sake, gauge the crowd's reaction - if there was a pronounced buzz, it'd lift the crowd, which (hopefully, okay just maybe) lifts the team.

Sow the seeds, if it was right it could be nurtured - and PDC could make a positive impact in some way at some pertinent time.

If all went flat at half time, then a polite clap like Charlie Wright and Billy Kiernan got.
  • But where is the evidence that: a) PDC can manage a football club, b) he has the slightest interest in this football club?
  • We'd not be in the mess if PDC had been appointed, that is something I'm sure about!
