    How (can you be sure)?

[cite]Posted By: Graham R.[/cite]But where is the evidence that: a) PDC can manage a football club, b) he has the slightest interest in this football club?

I dunno, I think ringing/emailing the club on a daily basis asking for an interview, offering to do the job for free shows a bit of an interest, no?

100%, I can't, what I am sure about, is it must take a right royal moron to have us bottom of the league, something PDC is not.

    Did he .... really?
  • [cite]Posted By: Graham R.[/cite]I hadn't heard that. Did he really?

Yeah he did and that's from the horses mouth.
  • So he really is insane!

    :0)
  • Another one bites the dust!

"Former Celtic and West Ham striker Paolo Di Canio will this week become head coach of Romanian club Poli Iasi. (Daily Express)"
  • Yeah, well we can't compete with the likes of Poli Lasi.
  • I was going to say exactly that!
  • His dream was to manage in Romania

  • im going, apparently loads of the original line-up have pulled out. Hiddink didnt want the chelsea players getting injured
  • Hiddink? Have I missed a season....!
  • Don't laugh, but Darren Ambrose is playing in this testimonial.
  • a certain Mr K Reid played the second half.....
  • All together now PDC-------------PDC-----------------PDC
  • I would LOVE him back
  • A complete gamble that could go either way. Easy for us to say do it, but would understand why Murray would be unsure.
  • Yes, what we need is a fascist who fondly remembers his time playing in England for West Ham.

Well it would make the future inevitable "Di Canio out" threads a little different from all the other "manager out" threads we've had...

  • so you agree then Saga.

    PDC ---- PDC ----PDC.
  • Could we afford his wages even if he would come to a third division club?

I think he'd love the chance.

Whether he'd be any good I have no idea.
  • Him or Costa in now... I've lost all faith in parky after that shambles of a defence
  • [cite]Posted By: Goonerhater[/cite]so you agree then Saga.

    PDC ---- PDC ----PDC.

Just googled "PDC" - Professional Darts Corporation???

To be honest, I am so down about Charlton after the 4-0 drubbing from Brighton, I couldn't give a shit - loved watching Di Canio play for us, but not sure he'd be a great manager for us. I'll probably be calling for PP's head at the next game, but I fear it could get worse if he goes.
  • I think Jorge Costa would be a better choice but if Parky goes then I think Murray will only go with a British manager.
  • Well of course Jorge Costa would be a better choice, but he's managing in Portugal's top division so there is absolutely no chance of it happening.

I'd love to take a risk on Paolo, he'd make sure we play football and that could be what gets the most out of the likes of Racon and Martin. Certainly think they'd look twice as good under Poyet. Would hate to see a Martin Allen or Blackwell come in and just hoof it up to Abbott/Sodje, we have more cultured players than most teams in the division so we should look to get a manager who would get the most out of them.

The last 3 foreign managers at this level would have been considered huge risks but they seem to have worked quite well. Poyet has got Brighton top of the league and playing good football, Di Matteo certainly did a good job at MK Dons and is doing alright at West Brom with them 6th in the Premier League and Martinez completely transformed Swansea and now has Wigan 8th in the Premier League.
  • Martin Allen was at Brentford for a while and he's an idiot. Totally one-dimensional.

Being a good player does not make someone a good manager. Nor does being a nice fella. We've had both of those sorts lately. Yes, we can take a risk but who on here is going to say, if it doesn't work out, 'fair enough we took a risk and it went wrong - that's life'. Very few, I suspect.
  • No No No.

Whatever some of you think, there is no way that a huge number of Charlton fans will accept a manager with his political views.

If you want a new manager try someone else.

p.s. Yes it really does matter what his views are outside of of football.......
  • [cite]Posted By: UP...THE...ADDICKS[/cite]Costa in now

Shall we see if Jose or Sir Alex are up for it as well ?

On Di Canio, I really don't think it would go well. Can you imagine his first day at training, raring to go, especially to see his new teams strikers - his old position. Picture him as he recoils in horror as he witnesses Paul Benson in action. Trust me, it would be a disaster. We need someone who won't be horrified with the standard of football our squad and 90% of other teams in this division are capable of.

We need someone with experience, this decision is too important now to take a massive gamble. If we were mid table in the Championship with less financial worries then maybe, but not now.
