get Di Canio in

edited December 2008 in General Charlton
He is mad enough to take the job and lets be honest there aint to many who would. He could also bring a few "real" players with him.

We need some one who can lift the crowd as much as the players.

I dont think going to Curbs would be the right thing to do , but he would lift the place defo. Again tho why would he risk his rep with this pile of shit.

    Here here...remove that post admin!!
  • If we do go down he could probably be player manager and get Lennie in to do what he does at Brizzle Rovers
  • Sorry, I couldn't support a club with a Nazi sympathiser as manager. Step too far for me.
  • He is only giving the age old Roman salute. Ave and all that it is not his fault the evil Nazis stole it as they did with the Swastika, which is a religious symbol.

In all seriousness it is terrible but he is a Lazio fanatic and did something very stupid and distasteful on the spur of the moment
  • Thanks, but no thanks!
  • I luv the fella, but much too risky an appointment at this stage.
  • You can remove posts and pictures but not my intense distaste. No thanks.
  • As I said if we go down then yes, but not this season we need someone with experience especially in this division (I would suggest that rules out Boothroyd 3 full seasons in management and two of them shit)

I'd take Adolf...Pol Pot or Stalin right now mate....I'm not too proud and don't think you should be either!
  • Parky is the man at the moment, and I feel he will be at the helm until at least January/Feb; finances dictate this (unless the club have funds coming in from elsewhere that we don’t know about).

He has inherited a squad bereft of confidence, commitment, several loanees (3 of which he brought in admittedly), and little quality. His hands are tied until January at the earliest, he’s already admitted as such in his press comments, and you have to admire the man for this honesty, would rather that than Pards mumbo jumbo excuses, the man is in a tough position, and fair play to him for putting his head above the parapet not knowing whether he will have a job week by week, how many of us would do that in our own careers?

Give the man time, gave him until January until he can wheel & deal, this situation is not irretrievable by any means, and January will still leave us time to get out of it, we have 4 more games before then, lets hope for at least a couple of draws and maybe even a sneaky 1-0 last minute win to boost confidence and not leaving us adrift too much.

Sit tight, be patient, give Parky a chance to do the job when he has all options available to him, i.e. the transfer market, maybe some cash to spend, you cannot blame him for our current situation, he is working with all the above constraints at short notice, in fact we should be thanking the man for standing by us in this time of crisis and taking on the responsibility, rather than walking away and saying “thanks, but no thanks” and into another job elsewhere with less stress.
  • Get Paulo in
  • get him in, Imagine the buzz the exitement. Hes the only appointment that would create that.

we'd be back on the map again.

I would normally agree with you but as a Caretaker Manager, he knows more than anyone, that 1 point from 12 is not the reaction a caretaker needs.

It wouldn't surprise me if a change is named today/tomorrow.

Plus I would give a penny to a bloke who rates Deon Burton.

Personally, I'd get in a Terry Venables style experienced manager til the end of the season to try and organise the defence and midfield. ESPECIALLY the bloody midfield, they were clucking around like like headless chickens last night.

The point I am trying to make is that you cant blame him for this, the squad is woefully not good enough and not even Mourinho, Scolari, Wenger or Ferguson could change that, and he can do jack about it until January, he has to work with what he has, and if they are not good enough then no amount of man management or psycho babble will change it, its a complete clean sweep of the majority of the squad that needs to happen, every point we may gain betweem now & January will be a miracle IMO, and Parky cant be blamed for that, he's been dumped with a pile of steaming shite, end of.

Yeah at least you get a feeling of honesty from the bloke, just not from the players.
  • Would probably give us a lift for a few games. It's after that when i'd start getting worried.
  • Heard a rumour last night, that Paulo has applied for the job.

Sauce is daddies, before anyone asks
  • geat then so paulo it is then.

  • Yes I also Heard that he had applied & had a seat reserved for last nights game, not sure if he turned up to watch though, hopefully not.
  • DiCanio isn't the answer. I don't agree with DA9 that it isn't Parky's fault either. He isn't the man for the job, end of, and the sooner we realise that the better.
  • Di Canio would be great.

Imagine the madness it would create.

It would either go really well or really badly.

Thats the risk we would be taking with a unexperienced manager.

He may not be the man for the job, but its not his fault either that we are in this state, its not his squad, its not him that started this rot and he has been left with crap to work with at the last minute, Mourinho could walk into New Eltham this afternoon, and nothing about the ability of this squad will change before either Derby on Monday night or Norwich on the following Saturday, regardless of whose in charge at present, nothing can or will change that until January onwards, thats when to change the man at the helm, if thats in fact what they do.
  • give claus jensen the job.
  • Hell give it to Kish!!

I disagree. I think a new man could walk in and get much, much more from this bunch of players. Someone needs to kick arse and instill some pride and passion into them and it's obvious that Parky can't even do that.
  • The club needs a monumental lift after all the batterings we have taken on (and off) the field and having had allegedly experienced managers since Curb's look where we are now, one things for sure it would be very interesting. I agree with goonerhater and I'm in.
