  • [cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Could work, maybe with an experienced coach (Capello?) to help him out.

No point building it up and then it doesn't happen but if he gets the job then I'll be backing him to make a success of it especially as he has played for special clubs like Charlton and Celtic.

but what if we get the Zabeel effect :o(

"Celtic special" like in the Rain Man sorta way ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i see.

    Vote Paulo
  • Come on he's the best avaliable out there,

We all realise we arn't gonna have money to spend and will prob have to do with what we have, so someone who knows the lower leagues isn't a must, we need a motivator and something different.

He brings all the attributes we need, passion, commitment, values, opinion, panash/nous, entertainment, he would instill a little bit of 'crazy gang' attitude.

he knows and understands where we came from and most importnantly I think the entire valley would get behind him and give him 100%, they may not agree to him being the right choice but they would warm to him instantly - there's not a football fan in the world who wouldn't
  • can see it now ---- Di canio in an open top Merc ---- standing waving as the car moves through the crowds who line te road as he enters the Valley.
  • INSPIRING.

How about experience, tactics, man management. Jumping around alot and pumping your chest is great but it doesn't mean you are automatically a good manager.

Agree totally about the commitment and entertainment and would love a bit of crazy gang attitude. Maybe a bit of Italian cynicism as well.

Anyway don't even know if he is being considered. we shall see.

I don't think the board would hold him being an ex-Celtic player against him

    I never said he'd b a good manage - He'd be a great one!!!!

No really if we had money to spend he wouldn't be my first choice, but we don't, he won't have to do any wheeling and dealing,
He will have to motivate this team, the coachin staff he'll bring in can deal with the technical side of things, if he instilled 10% of his passion into our players they would atleast compete in this division, its clear after a season and a half its not technical skill that gets you points in this division its grunt, hustle and team spirit which gets points, technique is a nice have and with team spirit will get you promoted but th bair min to compete in this league is team spirit
  • [cite]Posted By: Goonerhater[/cite]in the Rain Man sorta way

Don't bring Friend or Defoe into this.
  • [cite]Posted By: Dazzler21[/cite]He has badges... BADGES DAMN IT!

True forgot to mention that in my Pro Dicanio stance the last few days
  • if i was a player low in confidence i know for a fact that having a big name experienced superstar like di canio come in would give me a lift. someone that the players would RESPECT.

    good points.

Would be a gamble but it sure would be fun for a while ie until we lost the first game the crowd would be on his back and slating the club for employing a hothead with no experience : - )

Ahh, just go for it, what we got to lose?

Did I mention he used to play for Celtic?

Different is, les was never going to be given the full time manager post, where as parky still could.
  • I know we all need a serious pick me up, but I feel paulo is not the man. The board need to appoint someone we can trust to slowly develop a strong commited side in the long term. Whatever division that may be in. Not a lot of excitement and then yet another manager appointment when it all goes pear shaped.
  • I would love it he if he became our next manager. He would also be able to attract players just because of eho he is.
  • I would love this to happen and are all for a petition, who cares about his political views, this is football, and when it comes down to the game there are not many who show a better passion for the game than Di Canio, however the only thing that concerns me is does he know how to manage a club, perhaps he would be better suited in a coaching role?

I tried on tuesday, but i am but one voice!!

Also in fairness it was a half arsed effort and brought more of a comical smile from ppl around me than a resounding thumbs up, I guess that just thought, poor dillusional charlton fan really has cracked

we don't have a long term, we need quick action now and then regroup AGAIN in the summer, I don't like this as much as the next fan but fact is we need to survive above everything else, I don't even care if we just lump the ball aslong as we start wining the odd game, we can worry bout our position as a club AFTER the season, we just need to survive now
  • I agree we've got to survive first. If that means getting a better manager in who will definitely leave at the end of the season, or someone who can just motivate the players to get us out of this, that might be what's needed.
  • do it do it do it now now now!
