Whatever some of you think, there is no way that a huge number of Charlton fans will accept a manager with his political views.

If you want a new manager try someone else.

p.s. Yes it really does matter what his views are outside of of football.......
Well in that case for the sake of the 'huge number of Charlton Fans'how about Peter Tatchell as the next Charlton manager.

My poitics are certainly left of centre but PDCwould be fantastic. Would command respect of players. Bring ghe media circus with him. Get charlton playing real football and regardless of what has been written about his politics I believe would a huge hit with the faithful. Not a chance in hell though.
  • [cite]Posted By: hudson-son-son[/cite]Well of course Jorge Costa would be a better choice, but he's managing in Portugal's top division so there is absolutely no chance of it happening.

I'd love to take a risk on Paolo, he'd make sure we play football and that could be what gets the most out of the likes of Racon and Martin. Certainly think they'd look twice as good under Poyet. Would hate to see a Martin Allen or Blackwell come in and just hoof it up to Abbott/Sodje, we have more cultured players than most teams in the division so we should look to get a manager who would get the most out of them.

The last 3 foreign managers at this level would have been considered huge risks but they seem to have worked quite well. Poyet has got Brighton top of the league and playing good football, Di Matteo certainly did a good job at MK Dons and is doing alright at West Brom with them 6th in the Premier League and Martinez completely transformed Swansea and now has Wigan 8th in the Premier League.

    What about Paulo Sousa?
  • it will be a charlton "LEGEND" no doubt
  • Paulo Sousa....hmmmn, not the worst call I've ever heard.
  • what about les reed as director of football with kins under him.............
  • sod the political shit. get him in NOW.
  • It can't get any worse, at least Di Canio would be a laugh lol

There's a fair few who think his political views would be acceptable. In terms of off-pitch beliefs and activities, well we employed Carlton Cole didn't we and Bowyer was no angel.

Either way would he do a better job than Little Bo Parkinson who we are stuck with at the moment ?

I wouldn't compare a brief recreational drugs user with a Nazi sympathiser. Bowyer got a buzz, he didn't invade the Rheinland.
  • yeah di canio and goebbels best pals i heard
  • Would love di canio down here. Think he would get the best out of players like martin etc but it would never happen as he is to controversial for a little family club whose fans moan about his political view.
  • Oh so Jolly Robin - not sure PDC did actually invade Rheindeer Land did he ?

    haha
  • Oh, so the most important requisite now for the next Charlton manager is Political Correctness. And not honesty, intelligence, flair, drive and enthusiasim for the game.
Well after her not politically correct decleration this weekend we can also rule out Angela Merkel as candidate for Charlton Manageress.
  • Sousa is a massive NO

Why's that swis? I mean I'd look at a number of managers but foreign managers seem the way forward at the mo. I mean English managers are not performing and Sousa is available and probably affordable?

led swansea to their highest league position in 27 years, playing good football. but parkys alright, lets keep him.
  • Is there any chance that PDC could come here? I doubt Murray is reading this site, so I bet the thought has never entered his head
  • Can't imagine Benson or Sodje doing this...

    Cheeky
  • Di Canio, remind me again what his exact qualifications are for managing in the third-tier of English football?

Di Matteo and Poyet have both been involved in the lower-leagues here for a long time before their current success, Di Canio has done nothing outside the Premiership in English football.

Calm, logical heads are required now rather than knee-jerk reactions.

Let's be honest here, we sold/released most of our best players in the summer and replaced them with mostly mid-table 3rd Tier players (Abbott, Francis, McCormack, Jackson, Anyinsah) and 4th Tier players (Benson) so I am not surprised that we are mid-table to be quite honest.
  • Gordon Brown its gotta be him then i mean he is the right "political type" and isnt doing anything at the mo. Plus he has played much in the same role as Parky .After all he was around for donkeys doing nothing, although we end up in a much worse state than when he wasnt about.Plus nothing at all would be his fault.
  • The political views thing is a poor argument.
