Going to be a backs to the wall season, fight to the end, lots more goals conceded, and maybe some heavy defeats, some good away days, and some good wins as well, can’t wait!

Me too. Unfortunately I think their sponsorship and Investment is looking for Premier league. Hopefully they miss out for a few seasons and their investors get bored
I'd be amazed if Southampton win the league this year coming. One of the worst ever PL sides, and Ipswich and Leicester both doubled their points total, so its a bit perplexing to see how they would reverse that this coming season. Looking at their squad, it looks very thin on quality.

Not sure that means much. The year before in the PL, Sheff Utd were one of the worst teams ever and only got 16 points, Burnley weren't much better and for a long time it was Luton who put up the biggest fight for survival. Then look what happened last year in the Championship.
I'd be very surprised if all 3 relegated clubs aren't in the running for promotion. They all have decent squads (which is why they were promoted in 23-24), are likely to keep most of their players, and they also have a £40m head start on the other 21 clubs because of parachute payments.
On top of that you have a club like Ipswich who as well as parachute payments, have also just sold Delap for 30m. So even if they bank the parachute payment and just spend the Delap money, they've probably got 10 times our transfer budget just from that 1 sale. This just shows you what we're up against.

Yep, it really feels like have changed significantly since we were last in the Championship. I think some posters on this thread are going to get a rude awakening - it’s going to be a very, very tough season for us.
I just want stability in this league. Historically this is our level. I want a minimum of 10 bloody seasons in this league without having to worry about relegation to piss poor league one football. It really shouldn’t be too much to ask for.

It does also show you the riches that can be made if you push the boat out with investment and succeed. It was only 3 seasons ago that Ipswich were in league one with us. Now they're selling players for 30m and are well placed to become a Premier league yo-yo club.

True - but we don't know yet what squad the others will be up against when they play us.

The Championship is certainly harder than League One, but can be just as unpredictable.
Coventry / Bristol City / Luton are teams who have ended in the Play-Offs, albeit after a few seasons of consolidation in the Championship. But with the money that floats around, and the Parachute Payments, am sure many would make the argument that they should have been no where near the top six either?
Who could have predicted that Luton would have suffered back to back relegations with their squad and riches now? Whilst the whole basis of their promotion campaign in 2022-23 began with the foundations laid by... Oh bollocks I've forgotten the Managers name now!!
Not saying that we're going to boss this Division... But I think we'll surprise a few this coming season too
We're not going to be here to make up the numbers, and we're not going to look pretty doing it, is my prediction
I think the way we play will suit us well in the Championship, we defend very tightly and although we will be facing a higher standard of opposition, I've no doubt we'll be prepared for it. I'm a bit concerned going forward but we do have the strength of being decent from set pieces which helps. It's going to be tight and it's going to be a battle but I think we'll stay up

There must come a time where there has to be some ‘payback’ for all the money spent getting them from L1 to the PL. that parachute money might look a bit too tempting to those that had to fund successive promotions, especially when there will be the Delap money they can to point to for earmarking for new players and wages, plus anyone they do get won’t come in cheap be the rest of the squad will be on PL wages already

Well said. Their recruitment policy of getting over the hill premiership players which has got them this far won’t cut it in the Championship. I would be amazed to see them in the top 6.

The majority of their signings were either youngsters or top level Championship players, so i don't think they'll have gone too overboard paying 'PL wages'. Any promoted club these days has to seriously consider the very real prospect of being back in the Championship within 12 months and has to manage things accordingly.

I expect Millwall to be in and around the play-offs if the club invests some of the Flemming & Esse money wisely. Long-term, I think the club are in great hands & with this new 999 lease & opportunity to develop their own plans, will cement their current standing as a decent Championship club chasing the dream. And there seems to be a big push with the academy, which is why they tried Edwards. But have settled on Neil, who is a happy half way house between solid Championship manager & a good coach at developing young players. Also the recruitment is good, and they seemed to have started the cycle of buying rough diamonds & selling them on for a big profit.
In general, the ‘proper’ yo-yo relegated PL teams look a cut above these days. I say proper, as don’t count Luton in that category. Leeds & Burnley looked very good, although Millwall did beat both at The Den. That was under Harris. Which brings me onto Charlton. Jones will no doubt go down a similar path to the one Harris did, ie not have much of the ball & try and nick wins. Can be effective against the flasher teams, but can also be found out & negated too, hence why he resigned. Goals may be very hard to come with the current squad. Reckon Ipswich & Southampton will be similar to Leeds & Burnley, in that they will be a bit of a cut above. The rest of the division will be highly competitive. Can see teams getting relegated on 49-52 points, with no one cut adrift. Maybe Wednesday, if they can’t sort themselves out. And the play-offs being a low bar again, of c70 points.

Too much worrying about what the teams at the top that we won’t be competing with are going to do.
There will be Saturdays next season where we lose by more than a couple of goals - we should expect it to happen.
But that doesn’t mean every weekend is going to be a battle to avoid that. We will get enough points to stay up - I mean, if Millwall can establish themselves as mid table fodder and Bristol City can get top six, there’s nothing stopping us from making that kind of progress over the next 2-3 seasons as well.
We don’t have a divine right to stay up but everyone’s sounding a lot more scared of it than they need to be.
