Asked if he’ll be taking a closer look at the two players over the next few weeks, Jones said: “I’m having a look at Teddy Bishop. I know everything about Danny Hylton. I know what Danny Hylton can do. I don’t need to look at Danny Hylton. Danny Hylton is possibly my best ever signing in terms of everything. So, I’m not having a look at Danny Hylton. We’ve got a lot of young strikers at the football club and if they can have the application and certain things that Danny Hylton has then they’re going to have fantastic careers."
Sorry Nathan, could you repeat who you're talking about, we didn't quite catch his name.

Hughes only made 5 starts in the league in the promotion season plus 10 appearances off the bench, it always felt like a lot more than that.
We also had Euell that season, 0 starts and 11 sub appearances in the league.
If Hylton joins as player/coach I’d hope we don’t need him to feature as much as either of them.18 -
I don’t think we can quantify the importance of having people like Hughes and Euell around when we won the league in 2012. Along with the management team, they would’ve been driving standards in training and the dressing room. We also know what a fantastic character Hughes is and how that would have helped to blend the squad together.
If Jones sees Hylton able to do a similar type of role, I think that’s only going to be a positive. He will never be expected to play much at all, it’s more what he offers to the squad and the younger players to learn from and know that if you apply yourself in this way under this manager, your career is only going to go in an upward trajectory.35 -

I think Hylton would likely be registered as a player/coach. That way he can be back up and play the odd games as and when needed8

Very much agree with what Sage and Scoham have said, and the initial reaction from some around Hylton's inclusion in the squad, just show how many fans just look at football in such black and white terms.
For far too long now we have had disjointed squads both on and off the pitch. Standards is such a massive part of Nathan Jones ethos as a manager, and as Sage mentioned having those senior players in the squad who can drive that are so important. It is clear if Hylton comes in, that will be what his main role at the club will be to do just this, and that importance I think can be somewhat unquantifiable.
Currently it feels like we are going into a new season with not just the right balance in terms of position, but also character. It's no guarantee at all - but hopefully this will all translate into improved performances on the pitch.17 - Sponsored links:

Agree with the above and would add he's useful for the EFL trophy. A senior head to play with youngsters while being able to rest the first team players. I don't know much about him but sounds like he's always worked his socks off and made a decent career out of it, a great lesson to the likes of Kanu, TC, Casey & Mbick5

There was a reason Luke Berry was signed, and why Hylton is around, it's the standards and behaviours that Jones expects, and he wants senior pros who will show the way.55

Mixing the right combination of old pros, young blood and "prime" players is just as important in getting it right as 5 strikers and 6 CBs etc (numbers purely as examples.)7 -

Other have mentioned this possibility and it's doing my head in this talk of loaning out Daniel Kanu. He is exactly the type of all action forward that Nathan Jones wants on the field whether he starts or comes off the bench to keep up the tempo, in Wide or central position.
He scored double figures with his goals at Southend and Charlton and in an improved team this season could be a 12 to 15 goal scorer plus assists.
Had to be a work horse last season in our mediocre team chasing lost causes.19 -

One of the problems we have had with previous manager's is that when they arrived at the club they had to make do with a coaching staff that was in place.
I think it's vital that a manager has people around him that he knows and can trust.
NJ seems to be bringing in the players and coaches of his own choice.
This can only be a positive imo.16 -
Fantastic signings so far - Doc and Berry will boss midfields at this level and a decent strike parternership in Godden and Gass - with depth added with Myles , DK and CHUKS.
One more CB please alongside Mitchell and i think we are complete until an experiecned GK becomes available.
So nice to have 7 perm signings and no loans as well !!
