Jones out!Seriously a great appointment. Rowett and Moore would have also been great.1

At last a bit of common sense, a Manager and no more Head Coach nonsense. Jones knows the club too so doesn't have the feel of an outsider coming in where I mentioned one failed play offs campaign is the best we'd done since Curbs.
This is as good an appointment the club can have made and in the manager role too, absolutely chuffed with this. I ideally wanted Bowyer but certainly more than happy for the club to give Jones a chance and think we all, club and fans need to get behind and stick with him for the long term now.
Welcome home Nathan Jones!7 -
Yep, he's bound to be sacked after next Saturday...🙄sillav nitram said:Sacked after next Saturday!;)0 -
Couldn’t see any comments, where?fenaddick said:Also comments from Rodwell rather than Scott is interesting0 -
Keep up us up. Assess what we need. Get it in place and gelled ahead of next season's campaign and be competing in the top 6 from August and for the rest of next season.ShootersHillGuru said:Right. What can we expect of our new manager. ?
Instil mental strength in the squad if possible.3 -

A few lengths of A4 I reckon15 -
Excellent appointment, especially in our current predicament.
Nathan Jones TO DO LIST:
1. Keep us in League One this season.
2. Establish a clear style of play that is a) successful and b) good to watch.
3. Get the defence and defensive midfielders working together cohesively.
4. Get more creativity in the attacking third.
5. Ensure that the gaps and imbalances in the squad are addressed in the summer.
6. Get Dobbo to sign a new contract.
7. Build a team that will at least get into the League One play offs next season.22 -
In terms of formations he’s often used a 4-4-2 diamond or 3-5-2, both of which this squad is most suited to with the recent signings and lack of wingers.ShootersHillGuru said:Right. What can we expect of our new manager. ?

Hope he tears our existing bunch of feckless freeloaders a new one, gets the newbies playing and then I can get back to potentially being happy at 5 o'clock on a Saturday, rather than being resigned to disapointment and abject self loathing for supporting Charlton.
Welcome Nathan Jones..."You been gorn far too lorng!"5 -

b) is really not essential in our predicament. After years of failure I would happily forgo attractive football for success.

Also he might have thought “I wonder if this lot would perform differently if players were playing in their actual positions” and also if they would perform better if the bloke on the touchline took his hands out of his pockets and attempted to look like he gives a fuck !ross1 said:I would be surprised if Jones has not watched some videos of our games and still interested. Probably hoping that as we have practically changed the team it could be better
That was one of Nathan’s problems at Southampton he didn’t do it.
Trust he has learnt from his mistakes.1 -
IT’S OUTRAGEOUS … WHERE’S SCARFY?

Great, only alteration I would make is promoting No 6 to No 2...we need Dobson deal done...✅0 -

Why would he shell out for a lawyer when he has legal advice for free with his membership of the LMA. They advise - they have no authority to block the deal, and advice is always required when signing a contract worth more than most people will earn in a lifetime.ShootersHillGuru said:
My feelings also. Wouldn’t you expect that someone like Jones would have his own lawyers and not rely on the LMA lawyers (?) who are not directly under his instructions ? Just seems odd to me. Never heard it being an issue before. Perhaps I’ve never noticed but quite what authority or control the LMA have I’m not sure.golfaddick said:Sorry, but I don't buy this LMA thing. They are just a "Trade Union" for managers. I doubt they get much say in agreeing a contract. Yes, they may give advice to their "members" as to the content of it & whether any special clauses should be added or omitted, but in the final analysis if Jones is happy with what we are offering he just needs to sign it.
Seems like there must be some unusual / contentious clauses in it for the LMA to be "making alterations" to it. Probably is a relegation clause or a "freedom to move if a better offer comes along" option being inserted. For his benefit I would say, not ours.19 -
One step at a time. Please keep us out of League 2.blackpool72 said:At last.
Welcome to the madhouse Nathan.
Please be successful and get us back to the championship.1 -
To be honest if I was making those sort of decisions I’d employ my own lawyers. I’m sure he does.bobmunro said:

Lawyers at the LMA are almost certainly the best equipped to advise on a league manager’s contract.ShootersHillGuru said:
