Nathan Jones’s priorities:
1. To avoid relegation to L2
2. To keep us in L1 this season
3. To prevent us from being relegated to L2
4. To keep us out of the bottom 4 in L1
5. Etc.

If we get relegated I think he would be on his way (sacked) or pay off clause written in to contract.peterreeves said:March looks rough with the away games but if Nathan can't get us to beat 3 of the bottom 4 clubs then we deserve to get relegated.
My concern is more will he stay with us if he can't perform a miracle and we get relegated? Plus and more importantly will the main money men in the States decide to bail out as well?
Because we're Charlton this could be a distinct possibility.
I really hope it doesn't get to that situation but this season as many lifers have said has been coming for over 10 years at least.Think this is going to be harder than he thinks,is he the right person for job? We will find out soon enough.3 -

Now it's official, I am feeling overwhelmingly positive.
I am going to stick my neck out here, and say this is the best, and most exciting managerial appointment since Sir Alan Curbishley himself.
In my life time, the only managers who have brought me joy watching Charlton, have been Curbs, Powell and Bowyer. I am of the belief, that the timing was right with Powell and Bowyer, and that it was written in the stars our promotion seasons with them. Both arrived with no history of being successful managers before us, or shown any evidence they could achieve for us.
Jones on the other hand, comes with some real proof, that he could be the man to pull us out of the abyss, and make us a side you are proud to support again.
I said the last ex amount of managers were a bad fit for us, I am going the polar opposite this time, and I believe that the timing is right for both of us.
I am confident that this is THE man for THE job. A warm welcome back to Charlton Nathan Jones, my happiness and will to live depends on you mate.41 -

1) Get us safe.
2) A good, organised summer with the right recruitment.
3) A good start next season, momentum is important in football.
4) Make us competitive again, we need to be in and amongst it, there’s 4 teams better than the rest this season, our aim should be to be one of them. Even if we don’t get promoted, we need drastic improvement, something to build on and above all pride restored with something for the fans to get onboard with.That’s all I want, I don’t think it’s too much to ask for Charlton in the third tier.2 -

So,thinking we need a welcome song for our new gaffer, hows about something along these lines ;

Just needs the right man in charge to give the right direction & just having him in charge will boost the confidence in the players no end

but that’s not an issue we will stay in league one our performance at Blackpool second half and yesterday are not of a side going down .. we need one of two back and we need to find that system that’s sorts the players we have . Jones likes diamond and 433 so will be interesting what he goes with next Saturday

I have made my own fears about Jones pretty clear on previous posts and I have not changed my view just because he’s now ours. Contrary to the majority opinion (everyone needs a Messiah) I fear that he could turn out to be a clown who will crash and burn spectacularly and be a laughing stock along the way. What I will say is that it is a brave appointment that shows a lot more gumption from the Board than the cheap options such as Appletwat and Holden. He won’t come cheap and he is high risk. There is a chance that what we will get is a more humble version like the one who did the business at Luton rather than the jumped up egomaniac who failed miserably at Stoke and Southampton. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that both of those appointments were disasters waiting to happen for anyone.Despite my views, he has my support. This is a vital appointment. Oblivion awaits if he gets it wrong. Moreover, it was not obvious where else the club could have turned. One thing is for certain, the structure of management was not working and if Jones has insisted on being “manager” then fair play to him. It remains to be seen whether that will work in practice however. The club is on the precipice so this appointment simply has to work. For that reason alone NJ has my support and I very much hope that in a few months I am eating a large slice of humble pie.16

Excellent appointment. A manager the fanbase can really get behind, not a cheap coach who fits into a system that doesn’t work.It sounds like there’s been a shift in mission.
Here’s hoping Nathan brings in his own team and most importantly, hits the ground running.

I didnt think we would convince him to take the job to be honest.
I'd have been over the moon with Rowett or Neill and thought Jones would have been pie in the sky so happy with the appointment
From memory his teams were horrible to play against, very high energy and physical, shift the ball quickly and I really hope he is backed to kick our squad full of day dreamers right up the arse and get them doing what they are told to do.
He knows the club, I think that's important with us, he is as passionate as they come so will please anyone who likes to watch the manager during a game. For me I would love us to take on his style of football and fully buy into it, it will suit, off the top of my head
