Coventry unused sub again today for WHU5

Bit harsh on Aneke isn’t it?. If fit, I wouldn’t expect him necessarily to be second in the pecking order to JCH, or have I got that wrong?cabbles said:
Aneke will be lucky to get any minutes, and is lucky we’ve been so tolerant, so the best he can hope for is the sub’s bench. And I don’t think it’s a question of Charlton being tolerant. He has a contract which he isn’t breaking by being injured.1 -
Don’t think we are spending 500k and whatever wages it may, I expect high, to be for a 3rd choice striker.JamesSeed said:

Didn’t say third choice, but I could see him sharing the starts with Chuks. Either of them replacing the other in the 60th minute would be a weapon.1
-
This might be sacrilege to say, but I'd be happy with Leaburn leaving in the summer IF we signed Clarke-Harris this month.3
-
I'd be more than happy if Aneke was on the bench. He's always had more impact coming on as a sub than when he starts games.cabbles said:Aneke will be lucky to get any minutes, and is lucky we’ve been so tolerant, so the best he can hope for is the sub’s bench.
For me part of the rebuild that may or may not happen must be to give us a stronger bench. In his earlier games, with better players at his disposal, Appleton used the bench well. Recently his substitutions haven't worked but with the options off the bench, perhaps that's not surprising.3 -
It depends. He breaks down every 5 games pretty much. If you’ve got a player like that in the squad, for me, you can’t plan anything around them. He’s lucky we’re willing to stick with him, regardless of contract, and he should be willing to accept that because of his fitness issues, he can play a bit part. Plus, look what happened when Appleton tries to start him, he was injured not long after that. In an ideal world, we’ll have May, JCH and Leaburn vying for 2 of 3 roles, maybe even all 3 will start if whoever is in charge can make it work, but I think in reality, if JCH signs, this gives the owners legitimate reason to sell himJamesSeed said:

JHC has been offered 10k a week, apparently he is keen, but agent holding out for more.Coventry both us and Shef Wed have put good offers on the on the table, apparently we have offered more.33

If true, then very encouraging, but if offered to be managed by Danny Rohl in the league above or Michael Appleton in the league below, I know which one I’d be taking.DubaiCAFC said:JHC has been offered 10k a week, apparently he is keen, but agent holding out for more.Coventry both us and Shef Wed have put good offers on the on the table, apparently we have offered more.
Don’t think JCH will be getting more than 10k a week anywhere else.0 -

It isn't, it's just looking at a clubs situation and respecting it. Armstrong was one of the highest rated players in league 2 last season, only Moxon, Piergianni and Cook finished ahead of him. 16 goals and 6 assist for Harrogate is a very steady return. He's also a right physical presence up top, almost 9 aerial duals won on average every game.Todds_right_hook said:
Why the Luke Armstrong love?Braziliance said:
Luke Armstrong would walk into that team today and probably Port Vales as well, if they had him we would have been bang in trouble as they missed an aerial threat.FishCostaFortune said:

So have we? Have you seen our midfield for the last month?Braziliance said:
No. For starters, it's relevant to each clubs situation. They've signed players that will probably improve them, I can tell you right now that Armstrong would walk into our side at present and I really mean walk. So for context, a side sitting in 24th has signed a player that that's better than anything we will stick up top today (assuming May is injured)FishCostaFortune said:
Braziliance yesterday you claimed that Carlisle owners are an example of those that ‘give a shit and have ‘clearly been planning for the window opening’ based on them making 3 signings on the 4th.Braziliance said:to those that think people are hysterical for wondering why we haven't signed anyone yet and are concerned we could be in for a bad window, here's what it looks like to be a club who give a shit and want to at least try and turn it around:
Clearly they've been planning for the window opening as Doucher has said you can do, we can't afford to scramble around. If we have played Port Vale and Peterborough without any new faces in, its a bit of a liberty and means there's been no actual plans in place or strategy.
One day later we have now made 2 signings, which is actually 20% of all activity in league one so far this window.Would you now say that our owners ‘give a shit’ and have ‘clearly been planning for the window’?
Or would you say that your comment was not well thought out, and that your current mistrust of the ownership led you to make a baseless assumption?
You want me to get the party poppers out over a pair of low risk loans with no real track record?
I'm just not a happy clapper, I will credit this mob when they show some ambition, until we sign a proper player for money like JCH I'll call it how it is.
If people are happy with these tosh signings more power to them
Edit; planning for the window, are you purposely trying to wind me up with this post? 😂 They're 6 month loans where neither are guaranteed to be here next season. It's the complete opposite of a planning for next season and all the talk of experience and quality is already out of the windowLuke Armstrong, who would walk into our team, has only managed 90 minutes 5 times this season. You have to at least be consistent in the arguments you are trying to make.Saying a team, you know little about, are an example of owners who care and have a plan - because they signed 3 players you know little about on the 4th January - is not a good argument in my opinion and is clearly just a poorly thought out angle to fit your current view point.
The main reason Armstrong wasn't playing for Harrogate, is probably similar to JCH in they knew he was going to leave and was trying to keep him injury free/plan without him. Can assure you Armstrong is one of the better forwards in League 2 and why he had money bags Wrexham pursuing him. Could be a coup for Carlisle as he could help them in their relegation fight or they go down and have a ready made top league 2 striker.
Consistent in what way? This isn't an argument, I think our owners are full of it mostly and I speak openly about it. Unless you want an argument?
Apologies genuinely not following there as I don't actually challenge posters on here really, just call the players, owners and manager shit every other day and posters like to hop on the posts. There's no arguing from me cause I can't be convinced about these owners until I see us progress as a club.
Anyway JCH is a cracking signing if it happens, those are the signings I expect based on their words
the guy has had two good years in the football league. Good years, not even very good years.
kanu has as many career league 1 goals and is 8 years younger.
If may, leaburn and aneke were all available, I doubt he would even get on our bench
Carlisle have beat Wrexham to who was one of their main targets and improved their team. In the context of Carlisle being rock bottom of the league and needing firepower, I think it's an impressive signing.
I never said Armstrong was the answer for us, I am simply saying in this current CAFC team, he definitely would be starting.
They've gone out and bought a ready made player, we have signed a player that by our managers words 'needs time to settle in'

You’d have to see how JCH performs first. I hope he fits in and does well, but it’s not 100% nailed on that he will.cabbles said:

All I know is that when Chuks was involved we looked so much better. He’s more of a threat than Miles, although Miles might improve. Feel sorry for these guys whose careers are so blighted by injury. No fun for them, despite the high wages.6 -

In my view it is mate, I've not aimed it at anyone personally but I am of the view that if you lap up what these lot say, are still finding positives about how this team is playing and still finding excuses for this manager (which I have seen) then I can't understand you as a Charlton fan.JamesSeed said:

Edit: to make it clear as well, that isn't a dig on those Charlton fans, as I have time for anyone that supports this club, I more mean I can't get on the same wave length as those particular fans as I am a lot less tolerant to us being this shit
Will we even get to see him play much? That's the big question now15 -

Maybe we have found someone to take Fraser. His & Kirk’s wages combined are likely to free up close to £10k a week.SELR_addicks said:

Would this City be sent as part of the OK to send Tedic back? Seems a strange move all round. But if we requested to send Tedic back would they be saying we need to take another instead?7

So potentially we have Fiorini, then Taylor , McGrandles and Camara all that will need Easing back in after injuries ? Their will be more competition for the seats on the bench than the staring placesBraziliance said:

Wouldn't be surprised if that was part of the deal. Appleton would obviously know what Fiorini is capable of having managed him twice before. Just a bit frustrating it's going to be 20-25 mins here and there to start with.0 -
