Sticking with Pearce would be ridiculousValiantphil said:Challenor and Moore have both turned us down.So has CP.

You can still love the club and not want to potentially ruin your name by joining this shit show. Chris Powell has absolutely nothing to gain by becoming our manager.RonnieMoore said:
Moore not turned us down nor has Challinor because there not been any formal offer made to turn down .. Powell who cares he clearly don’t care about the club like he makes out he does .Valiantphil said:Challenor and Moore have both turned us down.So has CP.

Mate I usually never bother to respond to your posts as they are obviously written to try and cause effect. However this one got me thinking how little you must have going on to constantly keep thinking this stuff up 😂RonnieMoore said:

As a kid I put £1 into the bucket to buy Ronnie Moore.
I also took out 50p change 😀11 -
Beale's job hanging by a thread now. If Rangers sack him could we realistically go back in for him? Stock will have fallen after this recent failure.2

Sorry, off topic, but we also wanted Clint Dempsey that January before he went to Fulham.MarcusH26 said:Cafc43v3r said:
Cheers I think I am confusing him with Anthony Stokes? I mean it was 20 odd years ago 🤔UEAAddick said:
Was Brown and Kevin Thomson. Another Midfielder who both went to play for old firm.Cafc43v3r said:
Didn't we try and sign Brown and the striker who's name I can't remember, I think he ended up at Sunderland, from Hibs?Starinnaddick said:My memory not what it once was but I think it was Les Reed who tried to sign Scott Brown before he went to Celtic.

Yeah we were linked to Stokes, think he'd scored a load of goals at Falkirk on loan and ended up going to Sunderland from Arsenal.

Bowyer or Richardson for me would accept the Cowleys but don’t fancy any of the others mentioned but whoever it is will get my support1
-
I’ll be honest and say that all the names being mentioned are pretty much a punt. They’ve all had successes and failures. The latter being the reason they are linked to us. As long as the new man, whoever it is can come in and organise and add discipline to what I now think is a squad capable of achieving top six then I’ll be happy. Appleton wouldn’t be my number one for the job but he’s no more likely to succeed or fail as any of the others. Personally for me I hope it’s Darren Moore but if it’s any of those names we’ve been discussing I won’t be throwing a hissy fit. Quite why some posters are saying if it’s this one or that one then they’re done is frankly laughable.6

You have to believe in the plan for sure but Chris Powell is in a far more stable job than was being offered, pretty good chance he would be number 18 in 18 and looking for work again.Henry Irving said:
I'd think there are more than a few Charlton people with a direct line to PowellShootersHillGuru said:Do we know for sure that Chris Powell turned the role down “because of the plan”. Where’s that bit come from ? I’d have thought it more likely he wasn’t interested because he’s already got the tee shirt and probably after his associations with England and Spurs can have some very attractive coaching options without the hassle of tin pot club management.0 -

Powell left England and Spurs so would be available for anything immediately4

Yes, that is pretty much my aspiration.swordfish said:
We're eight points off professor Plum's target of four home wins and two away draws. As 14 points would see us top, two points a game may not be needed for automatic by season end.soapboxsam said:seth plum said:An option would be to
Advertise the job
Shortlist the applicants if there are any.
Conduct interviews which includes a practical of some kind.
Appoint someone, or re advertise if they’re all poor, asking those previously applying not to re apply.
And wait until November ?
As every game is must win Mr Plum I would've thought time is of the essence ⏳
Remember that after beating Orient he said P'bro was a must not lose to stay on track, but now we've been derailed, all games are must win until we're averaging two pints a game home and away. I think that's how it works.0 -
I thought he was still involved in the England coaching staff Shooters, I could be wrong though.ShootersHillGuru said:

In fairness, nobody seems to know for certain what Powell is doing now and where he us.Bailey said:Stand corrected1 -
Alex Dyer was at Newport. We ran into him in the lift at the team hotel the following morning (the team had gone) so clearly he is doing something related to Charlton. Scouting?
The hotel thing is likely a coincidence as I don’t think there is a huge choice.6 -
This is an important to remember. There is clearly, a very damaged, impotent individual behind the RonnieMoore persona.AndyG said:

As a civilised group we should be doing everything in our power to support this man, with the ultimate goal of reintegrating them into mainstream society.
However unpalatable that may be.7 -

There is nobody else out there that appeals to me.Let’s stick with Pearce. When a prospect says “I’ve not spoken to them” - it can still be true.Perhaps my post should have said “declined the opportunity to enter discussions”
but the net result is the same - it’s not Moore or Challinor.0 -

We’re a league 1 club and not one that looks like running away with the league, any manager that comes in will be a punt. In fact I’d argue that any manager appointed in football these days (other than say half a dozen) are a “punt”.ShootersHillGuru said:I’ll be honest and say that all the names being mentioned are pretty much a punt. He had problems with the owner at Wednesday, I'd be amazed if he came here for another dose of problems.Redrobo said:As I said a while ago, Darren Moore is the only candidate that does not divide the fans.
on that basis alone he should be given the jobNot sure he'd have the same issue. The main players in this appear to be staying well away. Then we have Methven who has kind of said (Whether you believe him?) that he will leave the football stuff to football people. So I guess the only person keeping the manager in check will be Andy Scott? So hopefully he should not have to deal with a buffoon similar to Sandgaard

He was doing a hotel lift assessment in wales. That particular lift went from floor 4 to ground floor in 25 seconds and had a capacity 6 people.carly burn said:
