5 loans: Abankwah, Camara, Campbell, Ladapo or Tedic?, Watson
  • Rumour, and it's only a rumour, is that McGrandles is injured and out for a couple of months.

And while I don't rate him at all that is bad news because it means we can't move him on this week, possibly meaning one less player in.
Been busy at the museum all day (nice to meet you Jim Rodwell and Ed Warwick) but I'll claim my ITK points for this now.

    Ladapo is this season's strop/saviour I see.
Ladapo vs Prem young loanee I think is an easy choice.

Ladapo every time. When was the last time we had a decent scoring loanee?
    JRS last season
Sorry I meant as in an out and out striker. But you probably gathered that from the comparison to Ladapo.
Fair enough. Had a quick look on Wikipedia, I don’t think we’ve had many on loan - Burstow but that’s a bit different. Stockley scored enough for us to sign him permanently.

Before that you have to go back to 17/18 when we loaned Dodoo, Mavididi and Zyro.
Kind of my point, we have landed on a striker that did okay last season, instead of one that is known to do well at this level.
Strikers who have been banging them in tend not to be loaned out to clubs in a lower division .....

On the toxic twitter comment from Mrs Kirk I suspect this relates to someone finding a racist tweet he made 10 years ago.

Ladapo deal seems to have a lot of moving parts in order for it all to fall into place which is probably why it won’t happen. Seems we are settling for Tedic so we don’t leave ourselves short again like last year.

Young strikers learn their trade by being loaned out to a lower division. Many of them score goals. Ones we sign, young or old, rarely score 5 a season. Stockley the outlier with his 8 in 22.

Surprised by the continued policy of signing young players.
  • Interesting signings. I'm fine with our business so far.

Wonder if there's more? Was always going to be a mad dash towards the end when you are in the financial position we are in.

This must be one of, if not the youngest first team squad we have had in living memory.
Real life Football Manager with a squad so young even Roland would question it.
  • I am honestly jealous of those fans who can somehow see serious positives in our business lately, I hate feeling like we are already set up to fail at our objectives with 41 games still to play.

Even if everyone is suddenly fit again and stays fit the rest of the season I cannot see how this squad has the know-how to be a promotion threat to our rivals.

Alot of young players in the squad with little past experience, older players who are pretty useless and no manager. What could go wrong!

I'm intrigued to see the new signings in action, but my gut tells me we'll be nothing more than a mid-table outfit again. Hope I'm wrong.

I’d like to comment on our signings and say it’s been a good day but I’ve never heard of any of them .

Hopefully there’s at least one gem in there .

We really are getting to see the future PL stars, but just got to wait till they all grow up first!

I think Tedic is the backup plan and Ladapo and Etete are number 1 and 2 on the list, but are a lot harder to finalise. I wouldn't be surprised to see it announced late tonight with a deal sheet submitted early but not confirmed til we know we don't have the other targets

Did getting Ben Watson, Chris Gunter, Harry Arter work 🤔
They had great careers but before they came to cafc.

We are on the young side now but hopefully this means legs that haven't gone !

If u r right then this window could be salvageable - no proven striker incoming and we r pissing in the wind
  • Lots of very young and inexperienced players coming in, we really need to sign an older player

Darren Purse is 47 in February

    Finally it makes sense

What is the average age of the squad, anyone know out of interest and how does it compare to the rest of the league?

Problem being, if we appoint a new manager after the weekend, he will have two weeks to work with the squad, but some players away on international duty and some injured, plus the ones who are not match fit,  be interesting to see the first team he picks in the first game

This is so not Charlton Transfer Deadline Day stuff, maybe get a early night in rather than waiting for the usual 11pm..."we tried our best but cocked it up"....Reasonably ok with things so far, just need the Ladapo/Tedic deal sorted...✅

  • How can any of you say that the window has been good, bad or indifferent. Until the players have arrived, got match fit, and worked with the new manager we just don't know. At least the SMT  have brought in a good number of players, we have the quantity let's wait and see if we have the quality

Man City striker signed on loan …

fantastic window lost count 12/13 with the keeper ? squad of youth , pace and energy some real competition for places now. Well done to the new owners and Andy Scott for getting these done so quickly in the short time the have been in the role .. now down to the new manager he as the tools top6 the aim COYR
I've resisted until now to comment on your many posts about how well everything is going but with less than 5 hours of the transfer window left I feel its time I replied

If you really feel that signing 4 or 5 players, all under the age of 23, who have hardly had any game time over the past couple of years is going to launch us up the table into a top 6 position then you really do need help.

1 or more of these signings may prove to be an inspired signing by Scott but my feeling is that having more than half your starting 11 being born this century does not bode well for a long hard slog of League 1 football.

A few 25-30 year old "been there, done that" battlers might have been useful.

We'll wait & see. But I'll give the summer transfer window a mediocre 5 out of 10.

To be fair you probably live a happier life than the rest of us realists.

I know he is on the wind up but this genuinely made me laugh
