So you're saying we might get a permanent deal in, we might not?ValleyGary said:Think its too late for a perm now, only in terms of agreeing terms, discussing wages, medical etc. Of course this could still happen and i know Cawley has been off, but we haven't heard a sniff from anywhere. Usually something would even leak from the selling clubs local contacts.
Can only see a couple of loans now, which i wouldn't be too upset with if they are decent.0 -
"The model", which, if I understand it, is to buy or produce players in their early to mid 20's who have a resale value in a couple of years which out weighs what was paid for them what was paid to produce them plus their contract cost.Valley11 said:
Again, great if he’s in addition to keeping Lyle.Imnot Athletic said:
Signing him permanently would be a statement. He fits the model. Wouldnt get much change out of £4m for him though. "did somebody order a marquee?"CH4RLTON said:Heard iasac success been in talks today
But when you look at his attributes - big bustling centre forward - you’d think he’s a replacement or being positive, back up for Taylor.
Taylor doesn't fit the model, hes technically free but won't have much resale at the end of his contract. If anything, according to the model, now is the time to sell him. Though, in truth I don't think that is the current plan.
This is why they love Bowyer, as hes got a great track record of improving players and Gallen as hes got a great track record of identifying them. If we'd bought Bielik for 2-3m instead of loaning him that would have been an ideal advert for this model.
I could be putting 2+2=5 together but a lot of the rumours about ESI in November were about buying Cullen and Leko. This would fit with "the model" and perhaps was the plan. However, the smack in the mouth is that clubs don't want to sell!

Jonson, Clarke, Harris are we signing a firm of solicitors?12

I'm not wetting my knickers, just saying that I'd hoped/expected a few in through the door by now - largely so as to avoid the inevitable meltdown as the window gets closer.king addick said:
Does it matter when they come in really? Theres no point buying/loaning shit for the sake of it.Off_it said:Have to say, I was expecting at least a couple of players through the door by now.
I'm sure there are irons in the fire, aces up the sleeve, etc, etc, but I was expecting and hoping for a bit more.
This fully fit squad is more than capable, would additions help? Of course they would.
I think we will make a couple of signings but confident in this team avoiding relegation.
As long as we get some in then you're right it doesn't matter if that's yesterday, today or Friday. But the last time I looked the squad was a long way from being fully fit and unfortunately the last 18 games has told us that although some of the young boys have done great, we just aren't winning any games.
Even though we are starting to get some bodies back it's a big ask to expect all of them to hit the ground running, get match fit and find the form we need from them.5 -

so also Katy Perry 87 or whatever he was called, rants at our owner on Instagram then 2 hours later, we submit an offer for a player! The power of social media 😂😂😂
to all those that mocked him (note: do not read my post from earlier this afternoon), hang your heads in shame
yes, I realise that the Instagram fucktard had nothing to do with this1 -
You're probably right. They take hours.ValleyGary said:Think its too late for a perm now,

We're actually resigning Roger Johnson, Billy Clarke and Carl Harrisiaitch said:Jonson, Clarke, Harris are we signing a firm of solicitors?5 -
What I don’t get is why we leave it until late in the day to make this bid. We’ve had since 1 January to get this going. It ain’t leaving Gas much time to get a replacement and they’re more than likely going to turn this down I reckon2

What I’m saying is absolute bollocks cos 4 minutes after I posted we’ve been reported for a bid.colthe3rd said:

A tweet from the club!
What can it say?!
'Welcome Roger....'2 -
Lidi and Aldi are where the smart people go.Dazzler21 said:£1m, we really are shopping at Lidl and Aldi. But Lidl and Aldi have some very good items.
As for doing a permanent deal, it doesn't take that long, the contract negotiations go on at the same time as the medical etc etc, if you want a deal done on the day it'll get done3 -
Or it unsettles the player and gives bristol rovers less time to talk to him and try and keep him._MrDick said:What I don’t get is why we leave it until late in the day to make this bid. They don't all mean the same in any context. I agree with popicon.BR7_addick said:
This is a football forum mate, no need to play tomato tomata. Okay I’ll keep it simple, going down would be a kick in c^nt/sh1te/heart wrenching/catastrophic/horrendous, choose whatever word you like all means the same in this context.PopIcon said:
No one wants to go down, but catastrophic?BR7_addick said:Running on pure faith at the minute, few rumours about but nothing too exciting let’s be honest, the best player linked with coming or going is Lyle Taylor.I’ve seen many saying “judge ESI come 1st feb”, if it’s looking grim them I assume the same will be saying “judge ESI come May 3rd”. Massive week in our history coming up, relegation would be catastrophic, simple as that.
We've been down before you know!
I'd describe relegation as horrendous, annoying or a pain in the poop-loop. I'll reserve catastophic for the following; folding, being forced to leave the Valley and ground share with Millwall or being sold back to Roland.
Just because it's a football forum, it doesn't mean we have to sound like an Arsenal fan on 606.1 -

If this is true then Taylor is off. Clarke-Harris is an inferior like for like player6
-
To be fair, in the last season and a half, Clarke-Harris has started 47 games, scored 25 goals. ignore the overall stats because there have been lots of games he has been on the bench or not in the squad. All 25 goals have come from his starts.
Left footed and strong. Let’s hope he’s definitely one to add to the squad.

I bet the bid has only just come to light, maybe we were in earlier and we have upped the original bid... Jan is all very last minute._MrDick said:What I don’t get is why we leave it until late in the day to make this bid. We’ve had since 1 January to get this going. Or we realise that Taylor is off in the summer and might think that Clarke-Harris can learn from Taylor in training between now and the end of the seasonSouthbank said:If this is true then Taylor is off. Clarke-Harris is an inferior like for like player9 -
Another way to look at it, since he joined Bristol Rovers, in the league he’s started 29 games, scored 20.9
-
well let's hope he actually wants to be here then that'll be a head startSouthbank said:If this is true then Taylor is off. Clarke-Harris is an inferior like for like player0 -
And be a perfectly adequate back up in that time.Todds_right_hook said:

Deal won’t happen.
Rovers want £1,001,000 but Gallen has said he’s not worth that.19
