The main reason for the past week's good results has been the return of Hamer and Hughes....two players with a lot of character, as well as ability. Their confidence has rubbed off on the other players and things have picked up accordingly. Long term though, we will need to add a bit of quality, especially up front and to the right hand side of midfield.0

we deservedly took the lead and from then i thought leeds were there for the taking ,however they doubled up on harriot and fuller ran out of puff ,CP should have done something before leeds scored but didnt and in the end i personally feel that we won that game despite CPs input rather than because of it.Bradley isnt a right winger/or a right sided midfielder I am afraid .Hughes and Kermogant outstanding0

Its interesting to see that some of our best periods of results have been with Pritchard on the right. When Wilson was injured he went on the right and I think we then won 3 in a row.0

I would have Pritchard on the right side of midfield for the rest of the season. He's by far the best option for now.0

I agree that Pritch is not a winger. But I do not think our midfield is strong enough with two up front to play two out and out wingers so we need another body that can defend properly when we are under the cosh - and I think Pritch is better all round than Wilson.

Cp should have acted quicker IMHO ..i see what CP is asking BP to do (something like what Curbs would have asked of Kish),agree that there is a wilson,pritchard and wagstaff conundrum (they all offer something but all have their deficiencies)Redrobo said:

I think the leaving early thing is really important.I first came across it a few years ago in the season west ham got relegated under roeder.West Ham were playing badly and drawing 0-0 .Masses of people left upton park early and the atmosphere in the ground became eerie and in the last minute southampton won 1-0.I am convinced that had the crowd stayed west ham would have at least got a point and thus several months later stayed up.
At the valley a couple of seasons ago when we were doing badly in the third division [cos thats what it was] we went 2-0 down after about 20 mins and this bloke in his 40s turned to his son and said come on were going home .I will never forget the look on the boys face it was utter despair as he knew that itwas not about the football but that his dad was a miserable git.
Obviously if you are old and infirm go home early but not just so you can get home intime to watch doctor who.

Bloke in front of me missed our first goal, still in the bar & missed our second because he left early!

The need for a beer and a pee does make for a lot of annoying missed goals.I went all the way to grimsby once for a night match and missed a mike flanagan goal whilst i was having a pee.In my 50s now so am very careful about fluid intake [and outflow ]before a game.Dont make the same mistake now0

I agree. I could see what he was trying to do by bringing on Kerker and putting Harriott up front for a bit of pace, but would have prefered a player who plays up front to come on i.e. Obika. All a bit late.
Also agree we need a right winger who can defend. Would like to see Solly play a few games in this position as a right back is easier to find.

Hence Kerkar to provide an outlet and draw freekicks - which he has often done in the past.
My guess is that the player Powelly really wanted to bring on was Danny Haynes.
Can anyone confirm why Haynesy wasn't on the bench?

He will move into the middle eventually - possibly next season - but has some areas still to work on. We need to persevere though, because he has unique attributes.0

Surprised there weren't more comments about the Ref. Mr Shatwell never fails to turn in a dreadful performance and he didn't disappoint. Apart from not appearing to realise that you're not allowed to handle the ball he broke play up constantly. Anybody, on either side, going to ground was deemed a foul. Woeful.0

There's two types of leaving early. Those who go at a set time because they have somewhere to be or transport to catch, an those who storm off in a tiff when a goal goes in or a pass goes astray; it's clearly the latter SCP was referring to.
Anyone in the second category last weekend - you got what you deserved, and so did the rest of us that stayed.0 -

Think it's anyone's choice when they decide to leave. I never leave early but if somebody wants to it doesn't mean they're not worthy of the club. Just means they wanted to leave.
However, in some supporters eyes, leaving 5 minutes before the end at Brighton is deemed as good planning !0 -
