    Definite handball for their goal.

True, but wasn't JJ's goal offside?
Thought so at the time but looked level on TV when Hughes shot left the boot, only other player to touch it was a Leeds player.

    Great result.

Decided to take a break from going to the valley at the moment as I just wasnt enjoying it, not just results wise either. I used to wake up on a Saturday looking forward to it, even in that awful season in league one when we came 13th, but recently I haven't been.

Since then we've beaten Bolton and Leeds at home! Maybe I should stay away?

Yes stay away. Buy a season ticket though . You are an albatross ;0)

YES - with knobs on !!!!

Seriously, thoroughly enjoyable match ( well, after the 95th minute) in the sun with 2 eldest grandkids. Pippa had JUST decided to put on Billy's Charlton hat when Obika scored ( HAS to wear it all game now !) and Billy is adamant that his new lucky Buddha that he had in his pocket was the catalyst for the win ...Whatever it takes , I guess .

That was SUCH a crucial added time goal for all concerned and especially for the gaffer. You could almost see that grey cloud lifting off from above his head - the relief was almost tangible.

Great performances from all 3 of the front runners for this season's POTY - draw your own conclusions from that ...

Watch out, Dickie Bird ...we're coming and we're on a roll !

3 points well earned and enough to keep us in the Championship.

Hughes was wearing a black arm band as well. Could not understand it at the time as I knew SCP would not have made him captain over Jacko.

doesnt that mean someone died though? and they are showing their respect

Nice story pal i gather you feel that we are nearly safe now

I never count my chickens mate, but that goal was huge.I love the way Boogica son won't sing we're the red and white army.when the winner went in and everyone was singing it, I turned to him and said just clap and don't sing, he smiled at me and didn't utter a word #propercharlton. All the kids that come with us now are a joy, especially there halftime match on the stairway each game.
Brilliant mate little fella loves his charlton as do all the lads , cant beat that feeling when you hug your son when we win or score a a goal .

Thats great from chris...what if you live 100 miles away from the valley and had to start work at 19.00 is he going to pay for a helicoptor to you get you there...or would he rather pople not have a season ticket and expect those people to pay on the day and miss those games.</blockquote>

Are you for real ? I'm sure some people just moan for the sake of it, how ridiculous

Not sure to be honest mate, I decided I didn't wanna be involved with it anymore cos it was just unneeded grief from all angles. Not heard much since.
  • A great performance and a deserved three points.

It was the anniversary of 2 Leeds fans who died. He was showing his respect. Sounds like he's a bit of a cult hero up in Leeds.

Not sure about the love for Hughes. Sure we've lost few games he played but he is not good in posession doesn't bring ball forward and isn't a prollfic tackler espesially if someone runs at him. More likely. JJ and Pritch feel less burdened by defensive duties when they know he is too limited to be caught out.

We have NEVER lost a league game that Hughes has started. We won 6 on the trot last season & are unbeaten on his return this season. Coincidence ?
I'm never sure if you're posts are serious and you fail to see what everyone else sees, or whether you deliberately post nonsense. Anyway at least you're on your own with your opinion of Hughes.

It is true about the Hughes record. I often think Hughes can do everything apart from play football! Or more precisely he can do everything, but plays football like me!

Team is starting to look good. Wiggins and Harriot have added much needed pace, Kermo is back on top form and ive got a feeling next season could be a good one. What a difference to how I felt after the millwall game. So glad for CP - the last month or so can't have been too much fun.

According to the clowns on 'Never go into the Valley' Powell got lucky, what idiots.

Top performance, Powell changed it at the right time with Obika, and we won a game we deserved to win. Last minute winners are great.

Steady, or you'll be offered out again.

Dont really think CP means people leaving early to make work when he says ever.i had to leave 5 minutes early at brighton to make work and was gutted to do so in case we got a late winner and also like to applaud the team off after the game. i think this is aimed at the sort of supporter who walked out last saturday when 2-0 down to bolton.those type of supporter not worthy of the club and may as well not bother going in the first place.

    ---------------------------------------------------

Think it's anyone's choice when they decide to leave. I never leave early but if somebody wants to it doesn't mean they're not worthy of the club. Just means they wanted to leave.

Obika's goal and the resulting home win may well keep us in this division. It was a hugely important 3 points. The waverers can now purchase their season tickets and CP can plan ahead with greater confidence. The importance of that win was certainly not lost on him. As others have commented, the input and influence of Andy Hughes has been plain for all to see. Yet again the players have delivered when it matters. Best bouncy bouncy celebration for ages.

  • Are people really discussing leaving early and why and sounding a bit peeved that SCP has said don't leave early ???????

I have never left early and I am glad those who left missed that goal.
Quite. Bloke just down the row from me went 0-2 down against Cardiff. He went 10 minutes early again today. Serves him bloody well right.
    This!

I've never left early, don'tunderstand the mentality and no matter how furious or disappointed i've been at a poor display or result, i've ALWAYS clapped off the team. On occasions very few have wanted to look the fans in their eyes at final whistle, but any player that comes to applaud the fans after a tonking has my respect.

Anyway this result is one to savour. We're not safe yet, but this week feels really positive. Thanks CP and the boys.
