First five minutes were like the first 20 against Bolton. After that I thought we were marginally the better team, until - inevitably - we sat back after taking the lead. Safe enough now; time to start worrying about next season.
We definetely cant help being slow out the blocks but it wasnt as bad as usual.still wish we could close games out but it wouldnt be charlton i suppose.great all round effort though and great to leapfrog leeds who will should have the jitters after this as they and more so blackburn are looking in big trouble.
In Cumbria this weekend, so couldn't make it. When the Radio 5 anchor shouted 'Goal at the Valley!' at about 4.55 I feared the worst. Couldn't believe it when it turned out that: a. It was us who had scored. b. It was Okiba who'd got it. Great feeling. Gutted I missed it.
Great performance and Well Deserved. Thought despite not troubling Kenny too much we created numerous chances and got in great positions and was sometimes wasteful.
Not sure about the love for Hughes. Sure we've lost few games he played but he is not good in posession doesn't bring ball forward and isn't a prollfic tackler espesially if someone runs at him. More likely. JJ and Pritch feel less burdened by defensive duties when they know he is too limited to be caught out.
For me, although he is limited, it is his intelligence to spot danger and cover gaps while others have ventured forward that make him a valuable member of the team. I think Dervite has made a difference too - nice to have a central defender that is comfortable on the ball, which has helped us to play it on the deck more. Very enjoyable game and a good performance until we took our foot off the pedal for 5 mins. Obika and Kerkar both hungry when they came on.

The thing is Hughes understands his limitations and plays to them. Breaks up play, organises, takes the ball gives to someone who can use it. Limited player but extremely effective.
Also, thought Fuller was immense, takes so many knocks for the team, a real class act.
Fantastic result against one of the weakest Leeds teams I have ever seen. Leeds started off the better and created a few decent chances then we got into the game and put them on the back foot. What JJ lacks for in pace he makes up for in positional sense and you just knew once the ball popped across to him that he was going to crash it home. Typical that Varney would then score with a massive deflection after we sat back and invited them to attack. Thought we got what we deserved for not keeping the pressure on Leeds but what a sweet goal to finish them off after Wiggins had pumped in a cross with his weaker foot to set up Obika with the glancing header. Loved that last ditch header from Hughes to stop Morison from latching onto a ball in the box too.
Yann won almost every header and led from the front ably assisted by Fuller. Looking to next year we need another striker. Yann has nine and Jackson top scorer with 10. Not good enough for a push up next year.
Obika looked lightning, but was left just ball watching when a high ball was coming in his way and the defender just wandered in front and headed away. But what a well taken goal. On a limited viewing he looks very raw and has a lot to learn - but could be a good buy (if we can afford him), and could be the solution. Would like to see more of him before the season ends.
By the way, as someone asked, Jackson's goal was not off side as it was deflected off one of their's.
So wish Solly had scored one of his two good chances but another good game.
Dervitte seems to add something extra to central defence and he and Morrison blunted their attack.
Harriott needs to be signed on a long contract ASAP. Had a great shot in the first half and had a good game. The secret is out and we will see how he copes with the extra attention. I think he will cope extreemly well. Let's hope one of the big boys does not come in for him yet.
Jackson and Hughes defended well and Jacko scored a great goal. Will two 30 somethings be able to hack it for a full season next year though?
Pritchard nearly very good. Just not quite a winger. Pity.
Overall we were much the better team and fully desreved the win. They are lucky that they had a good strat to the season.
When I saw kerkar coming on I had to double check the scoreboard to see we weren't winning 4-0 already. Not sure why he was brought on.
Obika was written off by many very quickly. I heard a lot of grumps when he came on. Humble pie for them
Did anyone see fuller take a good 30 seconds to a minute to get back into an onside position in the first half about 23 minutes in because Harriot had a shot and he wanted the ball? Fuller has moments of brilliance but he really can be a tart!!!!
Solly.... If he had scored that goal it would have just been magical. When he scores at home... I can't wait to see te reaction.
Great win in the end To the idiots the following does not mean i want Powell out! Lets make no bones about Powell got lucky today taking Ric of was football suicide he was a pain all game to the Leeds defence all game we had no one to hold the ball up when he went of Yann was too deep it was a matter if time until they scored Powell reversed his decision (he had too) and we nicked it! That said and done he has done what at was expected of him this season! Hughes and JJ joint men of the match Harriot good again Wiggins poor game, Fuller immense Yann industrious and so brave! Well pleased after losing it with Powell when he took fuller off! And great to see us passing it around instead if hoofing! Finally Michael Brown is a dirty little shit of a player I hope someone busts his leg Red wine here I come!!!
couldn't go but just seen the goals on sky sports - how on earth has the ref not given handball against varney for the goal?! two very well taken goals on our part, delighted, absolutely delighted. I love jacko.
Alternate reading: Fuller is not someone that can keep up the intensity for 90 minutes, game-after-game. He needed rest. Took him off and replaced him with Kerkar. Team didn't shift to accommodate Kerkar, or he wasn't up to the task in the same way and we conceded the goal. Powell brought on Obika to help and he did.

I think the record will show that Obika was an even bigger pain to the Leed's defence.
A deserved win against a very ordinary Leeds side, you really have to wonder what's going on there behind the scenes. Mind you, the amount of unpunished handballs out there, we could have been playing the Leeds Rhinos!
Very poor first substitution, we were already far too deep and letting Leeds control things, with Fuller effectively playing on his own, so to take him off and bring on Kerkar was bizarre. It sent out a very negative message, and it was no surprise when Leeds equalized, even if the goal was lucky. Obika to me has been underused, so has happy for him to come on, and even happier for him to get the winner! In the last 5 minutes we went for it, and got the winner we deserved (just about).
Great result and an excellent performance. Couldn't pick a player in red who had a bad game and several candidates for my MotM. Ref seemed to miss an awful lot today, especially 7 or 8 fairly blatant handballs, including one for their goal. We were the better team by far today and unlike many other home games we got what we deserved.
What a week! Went mental after the winning goal and I think Powell's reaction after showed how much it meant-he even jumped and stayed out for a bit. Think Hughes has made a difference, Fuller seems to have a better attitude, Harriott looks a great prospect (like the song, even though I don't normally (as Scottish!)) and Yann & Fuller seem to have developed a bit of an understanding. Was bemused by the first substitution and feared the worst when we went so deep (again as it has been our undoing) and thought the 2nd substitution inspired as there was a gap as Ricardo hard gone off
Charlton controlled the match for seventy of the ninety minutes. Leeds had five minutes at the start and a worrying 15 minutes in the middle of which they scored. Once again it was hard work and grit that carried us through rather than any real quality. Gold stars for all eleven for sheer bloody refusal to be denied.
Excellent win, thoroughly deserved. We were the better side for 70-80 minutes. Harriott was in super form, everyone battled hard and there was some great passing movement. The only thing lacking was a goal from our new centre forward Chris Solly.
Obika... he can plaaaay!! Great day! Sun was out! Seeing a last minute winner (haven't celebrated a goal like that at The Valley for ages) with winning e/w bets on the National. If only I didn't have marathon training tomorrow I'd be down the pub right now! COYR!!!!!!!!

Thought Leeds were poor and could be in deeper trouble than they think.
Thought the ref was a complete joke.

You sure can't beat an injury time winner.

Love him to bits.

You have to laugh.

Top performance, Powell changed it at the right time with Obika, and we won a game we deserved to win. Last minute winners are great.
Thanx Chris and the boys uve done us proud
Mind u I've just had my pants pulled down and buying everyone chienese tonight with some of my winnings!
