First time I've seen Obika play - very quick and dangerous. Like him. Kerka ... Hmmm.... Hughes and Jackson, work hard but too sloooooow. Worse game I've seen Wiggins play apart from the cross. Solly got better as the game went on. Harriot was our most dangerous player, Kermogant worked tirelessly, Fuller has too much attitude for an old man. Leeds were awful. McCormack the only player who looked like ever causing us any trouble!
I've no doubt our home form would have been far better with Hughes playing. He's a 'steady the ship" sort of player, and too often we have lost our nerve late in games without him.
And the other amazing thing about Andy Hughes .......he hasn't played for 14 months through injury, then at 35 years old comes into the side and plays 3 hard fought games in a week!
dont think we'll finish anywhere near the playoffs, but think we have a great chance of finishing top of our mid table/relegation "mini league" we're in. Not bad for our first season back in the champ!

Respect, Hughesy, respect.
Quite right. I said earlier in season that maybe he should get a new deal for the effect he has on morale in the group and for possible coaching roles, but hopefully performances alone will now see him offered one.
Posting before reading. Well I thought it was going to be Sheffield Wednesday all over again, but there I was slagging the introduction of Obika, he skins a full back and causes danger, then comes up with his headed winner...shows how little I know. The game was pretty even, we got the break for Jackos slammed finish, but I was right in line and thought he was onside. The ref missed some stuff today, not because he was poor, but unluckily unsighted, particularly for about four Leeds handballs. I was suprised that for a Warnock team (yes ex-Warnock) they weren't dirtier, but it was a pretty fair sporting contest that was always destined to be close. Credit to Varney for not giving it large after he scored, and I presume Andy Hughes was wearing a black armband in solidarity for a Leeds person, given that he had been their captain and all. Absolute blinding three points though. The instand jackpot was about 1200 squids today which suggests the gate given this time was accurate.
Another great 3 points and a good 7 days as things were getting tense last weekend. Some results went our way too this week for a change and we now have a nice cushion from the bottom 3. Just want us to finish the season on a high!
As already said, Andy Hughes! Credit where it`s due!
Our defence has really gone up a level in these last 2 games
Kermorgant was absolutely mighty today in what I can only describe as an 'advanced playmaker role' - can't think of many others who play that position (Ibrahimovic maybe?)
Not sure about the love for Hughes. Sure we've lost few games he played but he is not good in posession doesn't bring ball forward and isn't a prollfic tackler espesially if someone runs at him. More likely. JJ and Pritch feel less burdened by defensive duties when they know he is too limited to be caught out.
For me personally this was one of the biggest games of our season. I used to work with a short arsed, gobby, thick as pig shit Leeds fan. We're talking 24ct prize c*** here....I despise the bloke with a passion. Anyway, I was the only Charlton fan he'd ever met so I just know when that final whistle blew I popped into his head givin' him the bird. Fuckin 'ave that Baggins you wanker!!
The pure joy I experienced when Obika scored and more importantly WHEN he scored will stay with me for a very, very long time. Simply amazing!!

To CP, his staff and all the players, THANK YOU!
Love this - nothing like beating the tosser at work's team - let's hope Baggins is suitably humble but these people usually find some bizarre and insulting reason why their team lost - let us know what he says Draizetrain
Phew. Thought we were going to cock it up again but the footballing gods were (rightly) on our side and we got what we deserved. Neither keeper particularly busy tbf but we had by far the better opportunities and with a bit more quality and composure we'd have sewn it up much earlier.
Was desperate for Solly to score the winner and had those chances fallen to a striker he'd have hit the target at least. Same with Morro in the first half maybe.
Don't see how Byram is rated higher than Solly at all except he will be more of 'athlete' when he fills out which seems to be what Premiership clubs are looking for. Their loss if we get to hang on to CS.
Thought Jacko was offside for his goal but assume Hughes shot came off one of theirs, so maybe got the benefit of the doubt.
Great result - I feel we deserved the win (but I may be biased). They'd obviously heard about Harriott because they didn't take any risks with him - he won us a few throw-ins when their defenders kicked it off rather than risking anything fancy when he was bearing down on them. Yann took the usual battering and just got on with it. I felt Fuller worked hard, looked tired at the end but seemed reluctant to come off - Yann had dropped back so he was operating as a lone striker which isn't easy.

I went to university in Leeds and must have been the only Charlton fan in the city the night that we won that play off final against them at St Andrews all those years ago . Peter Shirtliff popped into my head when Obika headed that winner and former home secretary and massive Leeds knob Merlyn Rees who was at the next table in the restaurant I was in and who didn't take too kindly to having the score rubbed in .horrible arrogant club .
First five minutes were like the first 20 against Bolton. After that I thought we were marginally the better team, until - inevitably - we sat back after taking the lead. Safe enough now; time to start worrying about next season.

special mention to Bradley Pritchard, he must've spent the last week practising jumping. he won countless headers today against much bigger players, don't remember him getting beaten in the air at all

I can feel it in my balls
Johnnie Jackson scored our 50th League goal of the season today.
And Obika our 51st.

"Jonathan Obika's stoppage-time goal earned Charlton three points against managerless Leeds at Valley Parade."
FFS!

He does his job so well.
MOTM, along with Harriott.
Thought we deserved the win.

So...other than extra-time goals, what is the latest goal that we have ever scored?
Winning is soooooo good
