Nice story pal i gather you feel that we are nearly safe now

I never count my chickens mate, but that goal was huge.I love the way Boogica son won't sing we're the red and white army.when the winner went in and everyone was singing it, I turned to him and said just clap and don't sing, he smiled at me and didn't utter a word #propercharlton. All the kids that come with us now are a joy, especially there halftime match on the stairway each game.
  • 61 points mate i reckon we will get

I like it when the stewards try to stop their match
  • Lol and you scuff your white kickers
  • Need a new pair now any how
  • Fantastic win, great performance all round. Well done to Powell as well for bringing on Obika when it was obvious to see Harriott looked lightweight playing behind Kermit. hopefully the boys can relax and enjoy the rest of the season, top 10 finish would be great.
  • Heard from the bloke behind me in the upper North as soon as Obika came on as sub....

"You're shit, tall and can't head a ball and bring us nothing, not even that quick".

I like to think he proved this particular mug incorrect.
  • Had a massive game for my own Saturday team today so only managed to get in the ground on 57 minutes. Glad I made the effort to race down for the last bit. Brilliant to score a last minute winner when we seem to have lost so many points late on this season. Great cross from Wiggins but I thought the header was going wide so went mad when it flew in. From what I saw we deserved it - as ever at 1-0 up we backed off and let them get back in but afterwards we played some good football, Solly with two great chances getting into the box late.

A win was massive - with two tricky aways ahead, on 52 we might still have been fretting if results went against us but we are 100% safe now in my eyes. A top half finish would be brilliant.

    Nice one boys.
  • bbc are a joke. first their website says we play at valley parade and now the fls show said steve morrison missed a chance for us. cant they get people who know about the championship to do these things?!
  • He also said Michael Morrison hit the post for them
  • Definite handball for their goal.

True, but wasn't JJ's goal offside?

Unadulterated joy,I'd forgotten what it was like to walk on air up Floyd Rd.
As an aside,I thought a lot of the Leeds fans were gracious in applauding our academy players.

    My sentiments exactly.

    Posting without reading.

How narrow the margins between hero and villain, success and failure in this league!

Chris Powell is deservedly a hero after that match but, judging by the reaction of many around me, was anything but when he replaced Fuller with Kerkar and, to a lesser extent, Harriott with Obika. Thankfully it all worked out and we left The Valley joyfully, particularly as Huddersfield and Peterborough drew to increase our cushion from the bottom 3 to 6 points. Blackburn are 7 behind us with a game in hand too.

    Nearly there!

As for the game we were dominant and it was another solid all round performance which makes singling out individuals somewhat invidious. However the Skipper scored his 10th league goal of the season at a vital time and made me wonder if my decision to finally plump for Solly rather than him for Player of The Year was correct. Good to see Wiggins get an assist today and he now seems pretty much back to the excellent all round full back of last season.

Moral of today: Don't leave early! I wonder just how many missed the winner?

Leeds started better but dropped away in the first half due to the hard graft of Charlton performance. Both defences looked vulnerable without Leeds really creating too much or Charlton looking like they would score despite Morrisons miss on 12 mins. Andy Hughes addition to the team has really steadied the midfield and allowed Jackson to play further up the pitch, where he is best. Harriot is a breath of fresh air, he really makes the opposition think. Great run in and shot in the first. The battle with Byram was an interesting to watch all afternoon.

Thought the 'swing low, harriot song' to the 'swing low, sweet chariot; tune from the North upper had the makings of a great chant.

Good to see to the academy youth walk round. Well done to the Leeds supporters who gave them a nice round of applause.

Second half. Jackson finished well. Leeds pushed forward and we sat back as per usual, and with the Kerkar sub, I thought we had blown 2 points following the Leeds equaliser. Very happy to see the unexpected Obika goal go in.

Chris Powell's tunnel jumps are great and all. Maybe Its time for players to take turns at a tunnel jump at the end ? Johnny Jackson, KMG, Chris Solly or Andy Hughes for example ?

Referee and linos were extremely variable and inconsistent. Lots of handballs missed.

Leeds fans on train seemed to be worried about the drop, no wins in 8 from them and Sheff Weds Yorkshire derby next week.

Walking up Floyd Rd, very happy, in the sunshine, after back to back home wins for the first time this season, no longer the worst home record in the division (Peterborough now) and first goal in injury time. One more victory and a draw should confirm safety.

    NB Edit Thanks Huskaris
  • First half, best football of the season at home. Lots of comfortable good passing. Leeds looked a bit disinterested but that's for them to worry about.

Second half, scored and sat firther and further back. Terrible defensive substitute, was anyone surprised when they scored?

Ref puts up 4 mins added time. Leeds loke goes down, lots of shouting fron the Covered End, he limps down the tunnel looking shattered.

We scored in the 6th min of added tme.

We got out of jail here. A magnificent ending to be sure but we should never, never have been in the position of needing a 96th minute winner.

My thoughts exactly. Fair do's to CP but think he got lucky yesterday. Long may it continue. Ref a joke. Was like watching volleyball.
  • F******* BRILLIANT!!!! What a week!!
  • Great game, great result. Didn't think that Leeds had much to offer. Took Fuller off and we sat back, they score and was thinking of the Wendy game.
Board goes up with 4 mins added time, they right back spends 2 mins on the ground and we score on the 6th min. Get in.

I thought I was watching a Gaelic football match, the number of handballs in the game.

I know that many have claimed we have a striker problem but lee Hughes!??!? To be fair he got a hat trick mid week.
  • I think the ball for jacko to score was played by the leeds defender so jacko couldnt have been offside

You up early / late Huskaris. I was watching football league show, and it showed Lee Hughes scoring when I was typing the post. Thanks for pointing that out. Have edited.

Andy Hughes has made a real difference since he has come back to the team. Very vocal on the pitch, does the simple things well. Good character. Earning a contract extension with these performances.

this . how can he be offside?

Quote of the week from Chris Powell:

“A few fans left early. You should never do that at a football match – ever.”

Couldn't agree more, can never understand why so many people leave early especially if the game is like today's at 1-1. If you are more bothered about missing the traffic than seeing the end of the game then more fool you.

It's not always so straight forward Phil. Last season I took my Dad (who has Alzheimers) to home games and we often had to leave early because he wanted to go (once before kickoff)!.
  • On the league show, there was a definite handball in the build up to the Leeds goal.
  • '4 million of us crammed in the jimmy seed stand'
  • Been watching football for over 40 years and that was definitly the worst Leeds team I've ever seen.
    And as for michael brown......

Had a defining father and son moment today, last minute goal and he is now the age where he realises the importance of games and goals, we both went absolutely mental and hugging each other absolutely priceless. AFKA you've got it to come two fold, let me tell you mate it don't bet much better than that.

Nice. And, the really great thing is that once it's happened once, you know it will happen again :-)
Until he discovers girls and wants to spend Saturday afternoons chasing skirt around Bluewater! ;-)
I think NSS is a bit old for that now.

Thats great from chris...what if you live 100 miles away from the valley and had to start work at 19.00 is he going to pay for a helicoptor to you get you there...or would he rather pople not have a season ticket and expect those people to pay on the day and miss those games.
Dont really think CP means people leaving early to make work when he says ever.i had to leave 5 minutes early at brighton to make work and was gutted to do so in case we got a late winner and also like to applaud the team off after the game. i think this is aimed at the sort of supporter who walked out last saturday when 2-0 down to bolton.those type of supporter not worthy of the club and may as well not bother going in the first place.
