What is the supermarket comparison to the Scottish Championship?
I know its not specifically the question you ask but the Scottish Championship is equivalent to League 2 level I would say, so theoretically like buying the best/one of the best left backs in League 2. Only 23 so a good age and has 10 goal involvements this season so clearly offers an attacking threat too.
I just hope he is being signed as competition for Small and not as his replacement.
On Blair, basically he was very interested in Charlton, we made an enquiry and Motherwell was asking for 750K plus add on's which was within budget, but since then, they are now asking for million plus.. So we have stepped back.. This going to happen with the targets, but let's hope we don't get left with the dregs!
And again, not picking on you Dubai, but this is a typical CAFC redflag rumour post (for total clarity, I'm not doubting what you post is what you have been told)
If we have bid 750k for one player, when we need at least 8 or so, where would that leave the rest of our transfer budget on gathering the whole squad? I imagine not too much wiggle room after a 750k fee, if we can't manage to negotiate the remaining 250k or so.
If the player wants in, the manager wants it, and we think he would be an asset, surely we try and strike a deal? As it can't be a budget issue, as we aren't looking to sign frees, and are looking to build a championship ready side? That doesn't come by being tight with the purse strings.
I hope I don't come across the wrong way, but I just find these windows the exact same every season.
New owners mention money, we make unrealistic moves for players we were never in for, specifically ones that have interest from a higher level, player inevitably, turns us down. We scrape around and sign complete has beens other than the odd league 1 gems like Holmes, May and Taylor. Owners then say we did our best and how unfortunate it all is etc. Aneke will be like a new signing etc.
Going to be a long summer, and I genuinely think it's going to be a very underwhelming one. Luckily England will be on so that disappointment will distract me from the potential Charlton disappointment.
No wetting the bed here btw, haven't done that since I was 16.
I also do have the fear of targeting players too high up and them going somewhere else given recent history but the budget thing is a bit of a pointless line to go down when we don't know what it is. No matter how bad our ownership has been in the past I really doubt they're out there putting in a bid for one player that shanks our entire budget and reduces our scope to work in late May. If they've bid £750k for Bair then it's because our budget for a player in that position covers £750k. The fact they've then pulled back from the new price being over a million tells you that that would hurt our ability to fill the other positions to the level we'd like, which is a good thing, not a bad one. You're looking at sensible budgeting and setting players a realistic value as evidence of not having money rather than evidence of an ownership who have costed a big rebuild job.
Sure, it's possible that we just have a sad little budget and Bair would have been our entire transfer window but there's not really a lot of point getting this negative about it now when we just don't know anything about the numbers we're working with. Honestly, if we as a L1 club paid over £1m for a striker who has had one good season in his career so far in Scotland then I would be looking at them with more concern than anything else because that is a potentially very bad bit of business for a club at our level.
Anyone can see the negative angle in anything, and you will see every version of it on here. Looking at a free transfer? We have no money. Looking at bidding £750k
on a player? Why not a million? Looking at a loan? Develop our own players. Looking at signing a highly rated
player? We'll never get him, don't waste your time. Looking at signing a
lower level player? We'll never progress with these sorts of players,
history is repeating itself. Every player we look at it can be too old, too young, too cheap, too expensive, too rubbish, too good, too small, too anything at all to keep churning out the misery. Basically what I'm saying is everyone here has a choice. See the rumours, hope we sign the right players and look forward to the season or see the darkness and fear in every single possible version of a transfer report and hand wring yourself into oblivion on every little thing that happens. The choice is yours but you'll be much more tired at the end of the second one

Aldi’s middle alsle
That's us sorted then. They always have a few 'tools' on sale so Charlton owners will be rubbing their hands, whilst part-ici-pants of this thread go from bed-wetting to soiling!
Thierry Small replacement or competition? Interesting that Dunfermline have activated the one year extension clause, just as we have with TS.
Wing backs are the most important positions in NJ favoured tactic/formation, the rest of the team will be quite narrow. Two first choice WB/FB are needed because of the workload
Someone must have several mates that support Dunfermline?
I am afraid I don't.
If it were their local rivals Raith Rovers I have a reasonable working knowledge of that team. I can confirm that the standard in the League is pretty weak and L2 at best.

quicksave the "reduced cos they're on their sell by date or there's a massive dent in the can, the label's missing and nobody knows what's inside" shelf

Taken straight from Charlton's transfer policy the last 5 years...
Don't believe #cafc's bid for Dunfermline's Josh Edwards has been rejected, as has been reported north of the border.
And also it isn't a six-figure offer either.
Kindly provide evidence of these claims you are making…..as without, your information just joins the enormous pile of shyte you’ve served up over the years.😖

It's really unfair to target Ronnie in this way.
Why not target the real villains, those useless bastards who write for the Plymouth Herald.
from looking at the Wyscout report for Dunfermline for the last 5 games it would certainly suggest Edwards plays more advanced than just a left-back. He has played quite a bit further forward. If he's mobile, can defend and can supply a cross then him and Small bombong up and down on the left there could be very interesting.
Ramsay + 1 doing the same on the right all hopefully points towards getting a lot of crosses into the box for a big man or two......with Alfie and another AMC feeding off the second ball.
100 goals minimum next season...you heard it here first with a 3-4-1-2 mixed up with a 3-5-2 and 3-4-2-1
Lot of pressure to get those defenders right this summer....and a dominant goalie who can be a reliable keeper/sweeper

Not sure why people are having a pop at Ronnie. He reposted something from the SLP. Nothing controversial abt that
It was simply he didn't originally credit rich. So posted as if he were ITK.
At 5.39 his post got a lol. He then corrected it with the SLP info 5mins later. Then got quite a rude reply from someone at nearly midday. Bit unnecessary to a fellow fan, but each to their own I guess. COYA
