We have plenty of forward options. Yes it's annoying that Miles won't be ready for the start of the season, but he'll be a major player for us when he returns. Signing a player just to cover those 2 months seems unnecessary, when we already have plenty of options.
I slightly worry that our midfield lacks a bit of creativity, but then I don't know Berry (or Bishop if he signs) that well. I suspect that there's no space for a "luxury" player in NJ's side this season.
My concern also. I don’t think we’ll be shy of commitment, energy or effort this season but sometimes you’re going to need a lock picker. In all honesty I don’t know enough about Berry or Bishop to know if at our level they’ve got that in their locker but we’ll see plenty of sides that are going to park the bus and we must have the ability to counter that. Wish I was sure we have that.
Well Gallen signed Fraser, he has turned out to be a multiple dud, so would you admit he is our highest paid player (£7200 a week on several sites) in a random conversation?
Would he say the same to Cawley with a recording playing?

Websites listing player wages are made up nonsense.
And no, of course he wouldn't and shouldn't go on public record about an employee's wages.
Posters seem to be ignoring NJ history. He has a workman-like midfield and his creativity comes from wingbacks feeding two decent strikers. Why are people still bleating on about the need for a creative No 10 when we have half a dozen midfielders who have played at least one tier above our current level?
If we had right-footed LB/LWBs like last year, I'd be more concerned.
I am sure the club are trying to persuade Fraser to leave permanently. Hopefully a Scottish club want him enough to offer a 3yr contract and the safety of that and draw of home see him off. I suspect though that we are stuck paying much of his wages for another year. Him and Kirk were some of the least "Charlton" players ever. Some talent but can't be bothered to put in the yards to make the most of it.

You mean websites that simply guess, as they have no way of accessing private contracts?
The problem is that Fraser is (apparently) on decent money and Dundee won’t be able to cover his salary. We’ll probably end up having to pay a fair whack of it (in excess of 50% I would guess) if he goes to a SPL team outside of the big 5.
Fraser isn't on the 6/7k a week we are led to believe according to Gallen when I asked him this, he said it a lot less than that.
Not what I've been told. He's not worth it but he is getting it

And yet it’s still too much!
I think Fraser is typical of the transfer policy under Sandgaard. Sign one player and he will surely make a difference, no acknowledgement of building a team or indeed how he would fit into the team, and he wasn't the only one, Charlie Kirk's signing was similar and there is probably others.

Agreed although Bowyer said he wanted Fraser the year before , even though he’s the second least Bowyer player imaginable .. after Charlie Kirk

I do wonder if Birmingham are making the same mistake? Though of course the quality of players they are bringing in is far superior to anything Sandgaard did.
To be fair to Gallen and Sandgaard, in 22/23 Fraser scored 9 goals. If he had kept that up last season, nobody would have been complaining about signing him.
Fraser had a real purple patch under Holden where you saw the glimpses of the player we thought we were signing. Was excellent at Fratton Park to beat Pompey but then his form completely dropped off again.

The style that Jones plays, in a similar way to Klopp’s Liverpool, also creates more chances than any creative midfielder ever would by winning the ball back high up the pitch in dangerous areas.
To quote Klopp himself “No playmaker in the world can be as good as good counter pressing”
The Liverpool midfield of Wijnaldum Fabinho and Henderson that saw so much success, didn’t have much creativity at all but had a lot of energy and physicality, and they won the ball back a lot in good areas and scored a lot of goals
Looking at our pre-season so far we’ve scored quite a few goals already from doing exactly that, win the ball back in a dangerous area and quickly score. Obviously we need other ways to score goals, but we don’t NEED a creative midfielder to be successful in Jones style

Well I know who our highest paid is and its that figure, problem is I think we all know who that is, great player, sadly however his made from polystyrene. And it's not a random convo, I speak to Steve on a regular basis.
Fraser just looks like he is running in treacle all the time, fit or not. Think he's shot personally and needs moving on ASAP. Especially with the wages he is apparently on!
Not a rumour but wonder if we are considering Nathan Baxter at Bolton for our keeper position.
Originally from London.
Bolton have 3 senior keepers on their books including Southwold whom they signed this summer.
Baxter has 12 months left on his contract.
He also recently got a degree in history (not relevant but kinda impressive as not many footballers do that!).
Would definitely be on my list of targets. They completely fell apart when he got injured last season , one of the reasons we got anything up there was him not playing and their backline having no confidence in Coleman their no2. They wouldn't have signed Southwood from Cheltenham to just sit on the bench for the season so I'd stick a cheeky bid in for Baxter for sure.
This is the most recent info I can find on Baxter’s situation (and others) around two weeks ago.
Contract up next summer and won’t be offered a new one, yet. But at the same time, he’s considered no. 1 and it’ll take a decent offer for Bolton to let him go.
Most recent seasons we have relied on bolstering our squad with loan players. This worked out in the promotion season but otherwise has had lesser effectiveness.
The squad is looking stronger than a while and also high in numbers. Does anyone think that there are gaps in the squad that would warrant bringing in a decent loan player. Goal keeper (in the mould of Scott Carson) could be one but other than that I'm not sure

I think we are in the position where if we think there is a Gallagher or Rak -Sakyi available, you take them with open arms because they will be of a higher level to anything we have. If it is just to bulk the squad out, then I don't think we have any need, which shows the recruitment has been much better so far this year.

Could the lock picker be Karoy Anderson?
