"A manager I know who would have been a perfect fit for Charlton was telling me he turned the job down when Appleton got it because the whole ownership structure was complicated. He felt there were too many voices above and that put him off."
We have had two Welsh Captains: Mark Aizlewood and Don WELSH 😀
Don't forget Leighton Phillips.
1969-1971 Graham Moore played for Cafc. The Welsh international surely captained the side ? Could be quite a few 🤔
I mentioned Moore just below your previous post, Moore defo was the captain of quite a useful team, and he came to us in 1967, left in '71
Yep, was manager Eddie Firmani's team skipper, used to cajole and drive the team on.
I can remember him often lifting a player, crying out: "C'mon!, C'mon!" Proper old school skipper, who led by example.
Strong but cultured midfielder -could tackle, pass with flair plus arrive late on the edge of the box with his trademark piledriver to ripple the back of the net.

Woodman at Bromley?
Would've thought he would've bitten your hand off for the opportunity. Could only imagine it would a huge pay rise.

Not necessarily, he turned down the caravan dwellers around a year ago.

I can put two and two together here. I wonder if the person has managed us before and won a league title as both a player and a manager?

Yes you're right Lincs: From 67-71, Moore played 110 matches which was the most he played for any other team. Man utd, Cardiff and Doncaster. Before Moore joined Cafc, he was at Northampton in their 1 season in the top flight.
I just hope we stay up. Jones sounds a strange character based on the interviews I've heard.
I'm quite amazed at the mess we're in.
We will stay up no question we are not in a mess now we finally have good owners but their trying to work their way through the mess of the last 18 years … that’s not going to be sorted in 6 months
I think Camara is probably the player that suits Jones style the most in our squad. He’s brilliant at winning the ball back high up the pitch. Just a shame he’s broken really
Some chat about the game with Derby and more importantly the Jones appointment on the latest Not Top 20 podcast. Around 46-47 mins.
It’s nice hearing people talk about the club positively. Even though the position we’re in fans from other teams are genuinely jealous of this appointment
