Just watch him Beds when the highlights are posted for their 2nd goal he takes a step to his left towards a player who is no threat and let’s their scorer have a free shot instead of putting his body on the line. Dobson manages to get something on it from further away and it unfortunately deflects past AMB.Bedsaddick said:

At no point in the second half did Frazer warm up. He came on cold and wasnt goid enough. Watson warmed up several times as did Thomas before he came on. And Appleton suggests that Watson is the one who doesn't try.....Time to go Appleton. Watson who has played left back Boughton for Tennai Watson on the right, when Asimwe is the obvious choice. Appleton must go.

I never really rated Holden - his cozying up to the fans stunk of someone who knew he was lucky to get a job here and thought becoming a fan favourite was the way to keep his job. The fact he’s been passed over for League 2 jobs since has only backed that up for me.norwayaddick said:
Yes, but Appleton got a period with Leaburn/Aneke returning from injury. Thats our only good period this season. Maybe right to let Holden go, but why if you are only going to leave the post to someone desperate for a job.Callumcafc said:

Maybe we’re just not at the required level.
Appleton at least has a long managerial record that includes a smattering of success here and there.5 -
Fraser is a disgrace. Puts in absolutely zero effort. He is so bad that Anderson has to play despite him being nowhere near ready for first team football.2
-
He didn’t today but he’s objectively had a much better squad than Holden and has failed miserably with it.Callumcafc said:

Methven and Scott are a pair of chances.
Appleton is totally clueless
The players apart from a couple are bang average league one.
The club needs a total rebuild otherwise we will be stuck in this shitty league for years.15 -
What bothers me a bit is taking CBT off if he isn't injured. As it stands he is our main threat.3

I have no idea what’s going on with my club anymore. 2-1 down at home and what do we do! Leave Louie Watson on the bench and bring on Casey & Rylah. Bizarre!31

On the one hand, it's ridiculous that we're without May, Leaburn, Aneke and Tedic all at once - what team that plays one up front needs to plan to have 5 first team strikers? - and given the overall selection options today a narrow loss against a good team would be understandable, but on the other hand we've now won 2 games in our last 12. One of those was a bit of a burglary with 2 pens in a 2-1 win and the other we were 3-0 up and still nearly didn't win. We've not won in 6 league games, lost two cup games amongst that and lost our last three. We've failed to pick up wins against Burton, Carlisle, Orient and Cambridge who are all in the conversation for relegation. We've now conceded in the last 10 minutes in 4 of our last 5 games. We're 6 points off the relegation places, two of the teams just below us have had points deductions and most worryingly our results are getting progressively worse. I don't see a patchwork team decimated by injury fighting gamely and clinging on for dear life until reinforcements come in like the pre-Roland Powell team or pre-ESI Bowyer's team, I see a team filled with decent L1 players who are contriving to make the same mistakes over and over and over with apparently no ability to fix it.Yeah, Appleton will say we played well in his interview and will point at the youth of the team he put out as an excuse but we've played the same settled senior back four (25, 26, 29 and 31) with our 'best' player shielding them (26) for the past 4 games and we've still looked like we couldn't defend a lead even if literally every other person on earth was dead. What are we going to do now? Bring in a 5th senior striker, bring in some hardman to play in midfield and a few other ineffectual loans and hope we have a bit of an upturn in form so we can squeak midtable and talk about building for next season? No thanks. I honestly just don't want to do it. I don't want to have another few weeks where Appleton talks about the need for experience and Scott does an interview about identifying the right players and in the end it doesn't matter who we bring in because we'll make them rubbish regardless of how good they are. I don't want another half season where we're hoping there's a 3 or 4 week run of form so we can get the thought of relegation to go away and pretend next season will be better. I don't want to watch Appleton cling on through another mediocre 8-12 months before being given the boot for some other disappointment of a hire. I just can't be arsed with it. At least when Roland was employing Belgian PE teachers and ESI were arguing about sexy bread it was funny, now it's just depressing.Appleton out please, do something, anything to clear the inertia and provide a sense of upward possibility. If he can't manage wins against relegation teams with the best goalscorer in the league in his team then he's not going to take us up to the Championship regardless of who you sign for him so send him back to the clone farm we bought him from and get in a manager who at least has a style. Or don't, whatever, burn it all down.40

I thought we played OK for periods of the game and it was an improvement on some of the previous games.
But that tells it's own story, doesn't it? We play "OK" and we're saying that's good, just looking for crumbs of comfort.
Happy New Year!7 -
I will. That's unacceptable if he did that.RedChaser said:

No one player is responsible for the loss today, but Fraser who should be a cut above at this level, most definately is not. If management identify him as a senior pro to get us promoted from this league, then we really are fucked. He's a fringe player that today hasn't even helped the cause when a cool wise head was needed. Appleton entrusted his level of professionalism to close out the game and that trust was stamped on. No excuses for Appleton as I think he should go, but if a new manager has to play around with this same 23 man squad, he'll achieve precious little.2

Would side with this but the problem is we have our first choice back 4 and holding midfielder and the defence is still the key issueMarcusH26 said:

excuse the digression .. I saw the last 25/30 minutes of Derby v Posh, Posh won with a last last ditch goal from a home developed striker aged 21 .. the vast majority of the Posh team are in their early 20s but playing like veterans .. they scored two in the last 10 minutes .. NOW, the commentator mentioned that at least three of the team were signed from Barnet .. so I had a look through the squad info .. apart from a couple of loans, all the players were signed from L1/L2 or the Nat League, presumably signed for little money
WHY can't we find and motivate such players ? .. what the fuck do our 'scouts' and 'development coaches' do all day ? .. how come London born and bred young footballers are smuggled away and developed by a little club like Posh, or Stevenage for that matter
The management and ownership of our club are a disgrace, the whole structure needs a shake out, turn out and clear out. We have a very large coaching/development staff, sack the lot before they coach us into the Isthmian League .. I'll excuse the kit menCoaching staff[edit]

We did. What happened was the last 25 minutes we were a bit stand offish and a second off in the challenge. Edun is a liability, so is Fraser and some of the young players are clearly not ready for the physicality of the game.Off_it said:I thought we played OK for periods of the game and it was an improvement on some of the previous games.

No need to pay him offSmithy said:Please pay off Fraser’s contract now. I got laughed at over summer for saying he wasn’t great but he’s taking the piss at this point.
fully justified in sacking the prick
stepped aside for the Oxford goal scorer
took 3 corners in quick succession- one went short one went straight out of play 3rd went knee height to nearest defender
the robbing twat ain’t the squads only problem but he’s shamelessly robbing a living with apples blessing as Louie Watson rots on the bench3 -
We have too many Fraser's, such a soft touch of a team. I'd give Appleton two windows, simply because there are very few managers out there capable and we would probably end up with another one not liked by the fans. As soon it goes wrong he's on a hiding to nothing. The Prince-e-Paul said:No one player is responsible for the loss today, but Fraser who should be a cut above at this level, most definately is not. Watson has shown qualities we need and it is certain we will lose him now. I'm sure we CAN do better but will we? With the pricks in charge, probably not.0

When should the owners minge, sorry, spokesman Methven come out and say something about this dirge?2

I put in a gambling related WhatsApp group in 60mins that the Oxford goal was coming and would back on the Oxford winner. For all the good work before that we couldn’t keep the ball and were just getting camped into our half.Off_it said:I thought we played OK for periods of the game and it was an improvement on some of the previous games.

Happy New Year!Only question for me is could MA have done more, tactics, subs, motivation etc in the final 30 mins to ensure we didn’t get beat.0 -

Maybe we’re just not at the required level. He has Fraser also, and has had Tedic. Plus a fit Edun and a fit and in form Hector. And the games have been a lot easier too, even today Oxford have like 12 injuries0 -
CBT did very little looks like he waiting to go. So Rraser sun understandable.SouthWest_Addicks said:Modern day football is a squad game and when you have don’t have any senior attacking options on the bench you are always going to struggle. For 60 mins we played really well. Final 30 mins was attack v defence. Most baffling subs I have seen at Charlton for a while. Fraser/Thomas in and Watson/CBT off. Can’t criticise any of the players as they all put a shift in.
Kanu sub less so.0 -
The thing is if anyone has perspective on what a team dying from an injury crisis looks like it's Charlton fans. We were having to play much weaker players than Campbell, Anderson and Kanu under Bowyer and at a higher level. We were playing Vennings and Dempsey in the Championship and looking more competitive than this lot. We were chucking players like Gary Borrowdale and Matt Fry at L1and finishing in the Play-Off spots under Parkinson. We had a front two of Dave Mooney and Nicky Forster sometimes and only went out on penalties. Chris Powell finished 9th in the Championship with players like Danny Seaborne, Eggert Jonsson and Abdul Razak at his disposal. I don't think Appleton wants to talk about perspective because recent historical context only makes him look worse.MarcusH26 said:
