We'd still be in 10th place and going nowhere. It's been a car crash of a season and I can't see things changing for the better.
Yep, I think we would all be feeling a bit better about a win but sadly I agree that we would still be going nowhere with little prospect of any progression.
MA is deluded and talks utter b******s. The he talks is as if he is taking kids in under 11's. There is no more excuses from him anymore, these are his tactics and the coaches! Almost everyone on here has mentioned May in the wrong position, if he cannot see it then he should f**k and go!
Made a last minute decision to buy a ticket and go yesterday. The only good thing about yesterday was catching up with family and friends. As pointed out quite rightly by others on here the vast majority are not good enough to even get us in the playoffs let alone winning automatic promotion. May & Jones the only ones you keep.
Appleton playing the best striker in the league out wide and playing CC in a number 10 position again leaves us all scratching our heads.
We are stagnating as a club and sadly will continue to do so
The draws feel like losses. Come to think of it, even the win against Cheltenham felt like a loss on reading the post match thread. If the team doesn't have a losing mentality, there are fans who do. That doesn't help apparently as another poster explained to me in saying that fans need to stop accepting league 1 mediocrity.
I don't see games as 'must wins' now with making the play offs no more than blind optimism, buy we do need to keep accumulating enough points to stay well clear of the relegation dogfight as we're so obviously unable to handle pressure that I wouldn't fancy our chances of surviving it.
Is there a club with less atmosphere , duller than the dullest dullsville in dullard town That was dead there today and the ground flooded with apathy at the end . my 11 year old sat and watched some rugby on my phone most of the game wtf I’ve never seen rugby on in my house ever little Cnut but come the end I was jealous .
Saw Peter Burrowes in the Vista Lounge and as I always do, like the 13 year old that I am, said his name in a nasally way just like he used to when reporting on LBC and got a nod back from him. before the game had a quick chat with Bob Bolder and John Humphrey I told them they were Charlton royalty and shouldn’t have to watch this bunch of shit cnuts .
as the ref twatted around and our game once again kicked off a few mins after 3pm I shouted out ‘get on with it, no one wants to be here ‘ and I’m just the other side of where Andy Scott is and he turned around pissing himself laughing …..cos he knew it was fucking True !!
Roads were quiet , which was a result . always good to read on here and you realise that there are other insane fans of differing levels of mental ness , we are not alone .
anyway all time highs of hatred for Charlton , good times
on to the nearest league team to where we live on Boxing Day. I didn’t want to go but the kids do , pricks will regret it come the end .
without fail, peter burrowes rings my dad as we are on the way home to get his take on the game - he's ever optimistic, normally putting a supportive spin on the club / regime etc but i think even he has had enough as he didn't ring yesterday - in fact all of us leaving the ground had nothing really to say about it other than we're not good enough and its season over - again - before xmas - people can't even be bothered to clap the crossbar challenge contender or somebody announced for doing something good - everyone is thoroughly naused off but we are down to the absolute hardcore now who as you rightly say, don't really want to be there but have to be there - for a season where we've actually scored a lot of goals at home, the football is an utter bore.
It was the inevitability of the equaliser which was so disappointing. Everyone sitting around me was waiting for Burton to score because it has become the norm for Charlton to concede late on. What a downer.
Arrives at the Valley with plenty of time to spare, no traffic on the roads, every light seemed to be green.
Caught up with family and friends, Christmas music playing in the ground - it’s gonna be a good day…
Lloyd Jones scores - I backed him to score the first goal at 50-1 and anytime at 16-1… it is a good day…
And then… here we go, knocking it around so slowly, Alfie getting frustrated out on the wing, CBT running down blind alleys.
You could see it coming a mile off, we don’t kill teams off and can’t defend for the entirety of a game.
Alfie has to be in the 10 role and build the rest of the team around that, a team that needs at least 4 new starters to stand any chance of going on a run.
On the plus side, traffic was light going home aswell!
Anyway, the main reason we didn't win wasn't one scramble going against us, it was that we should have been multiple goals up, but certain players weren't interested in getting us a second goal
Maybe you didn't see my earlier post but let me ask again, who are these "certain players" in your opinion who werent interested in scoring a second goal?
We’re more likely to be in a relegation battle than a playoffs battle, on current form.
We’re a different team without Chuks, sadly. Unless there are some quality signings in the pipeline the season’s over. In fact, cancel that, the season’s over either way. And who wants to sign for a club eleven or twelve points outside the playoffs? 🙁
Someone is motivated to turn their career around? Someone who can't get into their current team? Both have risks but they are out there
Didn't watch so can't say to much. Had my works Christmas party, was only when the apprentice starting sniggering around 5pm I knew it was 1-1. The most upsetting thing was I really didn't care. Nothing but Apathy since post COVID.
Listening to Apples post match interview, an honest appraisal, and he takes responsibility for the selection stuff, and knows where the areas are that need addressing, but as he said, the team is what it is till Jan, there is too much learning on the job, too many touches, too slow in the build up's, I feel the squad needs to take a lot of responsibility for today and the last couple of weeks. Think the Orient game will define our season, fail to win against Orient and also Bristol Rovers, and the faint hope of the Playoffs will be gone...we shall see.
I admire your optimism, after that (and Gills away) and it feels done to me. I'm reaching for the Xmas brandy
Can see Alfie getting pissed off out on the wing, running everywhere whilst getting nowhere...now he is someone I could see seeking a move, long contract or not, and that would be terrible...

Seriously like to know.
Mostly CBT. I'm also increasingly done with the midfielders who show something now and then but don't land a blow. But at least C Campbell and Fraser showed something, their replacements basically didn't
For the record Hector was beyond brilliant for all but that goal where he inexplicably pulls up in the challenge where a block and bit of force was required . i would have still had him as man of the match in spite of that monster faux pas at the end Lloyd Jones won it
Hector did pass it out straight to opposition in the 2nd half today. His "improvement" is there and he is playing better but the mistakes are not leading so obviously to goals- that's luck.
I hold number 18 responsible for that goal. He left his man for the player number 20 was marking. He had the opportunity to get back and correct this by picking the man up again. He failed to do so and the opposition player scored.
This is not complicated. It’s basic defending. Years ago any decent coach would have drummed this into his defenders. Nowadays lots of professional players make these mistakes. I just don’t understand it. I’d love to speak to a modern day manager and ask how he can allow this to constantly happen.
Also, how does our number 18 have the temerity to hold his hands up as if someone else let the side down. He should be hanging his head in shame.
These players by the way should be referred to by their number because they do not deserve their name to be mentionned as players of our great club. They are just numbers now to me.
13th January- probably the first game when parking restrictions will kick in.
13th January - visit of P'Boro in good form.
13th January- possibility of losing CBT but also missing the dynamo that is Dobbo.
13th January- What are the odds of the players being booed off the pitch and calls for the gaffer's head ?
Oh and probably our lowest gate for many a year - especially poignant as it's the Memorial match.
Welcome to 2024 at The Valley.
13th January 1951- Charlton fourth from bottom of the top flight div1 looks bad. Hans Jepson scores the winner on his debut Charlton Ath 2 -1 Sheff Wed. Charlton start moving up the league to safety. Keep the faith.

All Fraser showed is that he’s not very good. Lost the ball so many times. Another game with a goal or assist. Not even close.

The question should have been ’who’s at fault, us or the manager?'
