Wing Back feels the most crucial to get right if we are going to be playing 352 long term , not convinced Tennai and Edun are the answers. Need to find players more in the Matssen,JDS, Wiggins ilk.
We no longer have wingers so we absolutely have to get an attacking midfielder, a 10, for either 352 or diamond. Without that we will be toothless. I suspect that is what is holding the Fraser move up.
But then where does that leave L Watson and Fiorini?
We already have Dobbo, Coventry, Bakinson plus Camara, McGrandles and Taylor to come back. Not counting Fraser or Anderson, that gives 8 options to play in midfield already!
Florini was a mistake I think, doesn’t really offer us anything different and the manager he followed round has gone
Fiorini feels like we had to take someone else to get out of how much we were paying for Tedic so took someone the manager already knew, hopefully he gets fit quickly and shows a lot more then he has so far.

Fiorini is very highly thought of and although he’s not going to be fit for some weeks I think the club are hoping to be in a position to sign him in the summer. Don’t write off Fiorini just yet.

The match thread on the Blackpool site they were saying how fortunate they were he wasn't starting so I make you right and hope our fans give him time

Need to move some on if we can. I wouldn’t call Watson a 10, wouldn’t want to rely on Fiorini or those getting back from injury either.
For 3-5-2 or a diamond to work we need a goalscorer in the midfield and to strengthen at wing back.
Ideally I’d like another physical striker too so Aneke isn’t relied on.
Of all the midfielders we have, Fraser is the only with with a track record of scoring goals as a 10. Most of the rest are either dross- McGrandles, unproven -Bakinson and Fiorini, injury prone-Camara, defensive-Coventry, Taylor and Dobson, or not quite good enough- L Watson. We need a proper10, and dump most of the above as fast as possible.
Might not be morally right, but I’d like us to go for a couple of Reading players.
At the end of the day, we need to survive and if that means signing a player or two from Reading who are just below us, so be it.
Smith would improve us and weaken them, helping our chance of survival.
I am a Charlton supporter, not Reading. It’s not nice to see any club in any trouble, as we all well know!
But I’m not here for the “you can’t sign their players because they’re struggling and going through it”. No. If they’re a player who will improve us and we can sign them, you do it no matter who they play for.

Agree, we did exactly that when we signed BWP. Might not have won L1 the following season had we missed out.
I think Methven talked about it on his podcast and made the point that if we don’t another club will.
Reading would do the same to us if the roles were reversed.
And teams have done in the past … Knibbs would be one we should get perhaps Smith but I think we’re looking at other targets now Aneke could be on the bench Saturday ?

We took Herman from Ipswich in that way, outside of a transfer window.

Wasn’t it Reading that took Yann from us ?
Bournemouth, he went to Reading later.
Point still stands though, it wasn't Bournemouth's fault we sold them Kermorgant cheaply, or Liverpool's with Gomez, or Birmingham when they got Morrison for free.
Or the fault of any of the clubs who've got a free transfer from us like Sarr, Bauer etc because we were in too much of a mess to be a decent club to stay at.
I feel sorry for Reading fans, but if they're being sold cheaply anyway then we're not being noble by not taking a look, we're being naive.
Knibbs and Azeez both wingers aren't they? Haven't we set ourselves up with no wingers, not sure they will be considered.
Smith is decent and if cheap is certainly worth picking up, as Sage says he would improve us and weaken them.
Vickers is the jewel of their squad, not necessarily for the short term but certainly another Peterborough type signing - kid with a very high ceiling.
Tyler Bindon maybe worth a punt if cheap.
The issue is Reading will want as much cash upfront as possible where I get the impression our larger outgoings are trying to be structured by little upfront and large sell on clauses.

Speaking of attacking wingbacks, Bolton bring in Calvin Ramsey on loan from Liverpool.
(only half-joking)
He's definitely destined to play for us in the future then

Got to feel for Reading, this is taking the piss. 75k for a player who has a marker value of over a million..

So the next 37 hours and 30 minutes will be interesting, but not crucial.
