  • When do we get a ghastly loan forward in who hasn't played since 2021 but used to be pretty damn decent (and fit) before then?

    CBT may be off

Good luck with that, you could try some Gaviscon.

  • Good luck to Goodwin, they have a very good team of youth and experience, I hope the kad does well,  but we missed out, especially after wasting time on the P/boro lad!

If we don’t sign a striker we are in big trouble, particularly with this clown in charge
We're in trouble regardless, but Alfie dries up on goals or gets injured then we could be seeing division four football next season.
Some of us might be seeing it.....others might be sunning themselves on Copacabana beach 😆.

Need to keep the dog happy.
He needs a bowl of water.

  • If CBT won’t sign and that figure is accurate, it makes sense to take it and hope it’s reinvested in the team either now or in the summer.

Obviously, some may argue we could’ve done more to get him to sign, but we’ll never know the ins and the outs of what’s been offered, would it have really mattered etc.

I’ve never been of the opinion he’s a top performer based on his inconsistency, but he would be a significant loss.  I also think (and this is just an opinion because I don’t really follow the tactical side of the game or understand to the level I did when it was 4-4-2), that the standard set up for most clubs these days is a variation of a front 3, and he, like Rak Saki last season was a perfect fit for playing as one of the wide players in a front 3.  If we continue to take that approach, then I think we’re a bit short in that area now as I have big doubts about Campbell making it at this level, and I don’t think the formation suits May, Leaburn, Kanu, Aneke plus one other centre forward.  I think 2 of those 4 (or 5 if we get another striker) are then having to play out of position.  In my mind, all of them would want to be the central forward

at lot depends on the system Appleton wants to implement of course, having read of 3-5-2 on here in recent days, it may not be a problem, but we have a glut of central midfielders and little wide threat.  Perhaps Edun can do a job further up, who knows

250k > 600k seems like a big jump in negotiations given what we last heard

It’s only good if we can replace him, if we don’t get a replacement we’re in even bigger trouble.

It is a complete nonsense account, undoubtedly ran by some little dork.

All it does is copy other journalists tweets, adds the little thinking emoji and says 'X clubs fans, how do you feel about this?'

Can't stand that account, copy and paste tweets every single day.

I would honestly say there's a 0% chance Derby would fork out 600k for CBT and even if they did, we would find out from an actual credible source, not that account.

If my message comes across a bit animated, it's because of my burning hatred for those types of twitter accounts.
Unless I read quotes I take stuff like this with a pinch of salt.

Methven’s podcast out today, talks about the January window.

Worth a listen this, he mentions we put in a significant bid for Nelson abbey . Atleast we’re going for the right players even if we’ve only got a couple over the line so far .
He also mentions phoning reading about other players and other teams knowing we’re desperate for a number 9.
  • It's obvious that we're after a certain profile of striker to fill a hole in the absence of Leaburn and Chuks so with that in mind...

On my lunch break, here's a list of 60 strikers playing in the top four divisions of England or Scottish Premiership that are 6ft or taller between ages 21 and 30 and I think might be interested in playing for CAFC either permanently or on loan. They are in height order (tallest first).

The majority of these won't be good enough which is why they're available, & I didn't check if they're currently injured or recently moved clubs in this window already but anyway... have fun!

    2. Tete Yengi (Livingston)

That's what my post says yes ;-)

These heights are all taken from Transfermarkt so take them with a pinch of salt. They have Sam Smith listed as 5ft9 for instance while Cambridge had his player profile listed at 6ft1 so I squeezed him in at 44.
  • If CBT leaves that definately leaves a premium player spot to fill, all at a time that the owners are wanting to limp along to the summer with only essential outlay. If they trouser £600k then they should tie up at least a premium loan to season end, then take stock in the summer. Problem is, who is going to want to come and play in a relegation scrap in League One, that is good enough, and fit enough that has enough pace and goals, to make a difference.

Damn! that means he'll be injured again by Lincoln. I've got a friend who supports them and likes to come to the `valley. `I'll have to be polite about it all. Well played!

We've got 2 games against them- can we delay till August?
  • I'm hoping we might go in for Humphrys now that Goodwin has fallen through, I think he would be a good fit.
Would love Humphrys but I don’t see him uprooting and moving south just to join another mid table side.

    Fingers crossed I’m wrong.
