David Collis for me.Garrymanilow said:Who's everyone's favourite pick from the 2001/02 squad as manager? I don't meant the one with the best managerial record, I mean your favourite to have as manager. I'm going Kish with Andy Todd as assistant.Alternatively a rotating managerial carousel across the season of Svensson, Pringle, Lisbie and Johansson who aren't quite good enough overall as managers, but each win 5 games a season to get us where we need to be2 -

Maybe we’re looking for a versatile manager, who can manage in a number of different positions or across the board. ‘A jack of all trades, master of none’ type.
A bit like the players we generally sign.1 -
Could probably convince the courts it’s a worse punishment than prisonScoham said:

Yes we’re in deep doodoo. I gave up on this clutch of owners/smt around 6 weeks ago.
Hope we get a ‘ strong man ‘ manager, not holding my breath.
Bowyer for me but appears he’s not been contacted.
Personally I’d even welcome back Robinson, his scouse verbal diarrhoea worth putting up with if he could sort us out.
Anybody but Appleton!2 -
Costa would definitely be an interesting one... Has managed, allbeit in Portugal, and would get the fans massively behind the team2
-
Need to sort out how many days he gets for annual leave although for 2023 it will be pro rata, three days are taken over the Christmas holidays. sick pay, how long notice has to be given, the length of the probation. Also has too supply three references from previous employersChunes said:Really expected us to announce today.0 -

I imagine we can't match Mark Robson's current salary.

Why are you so against Appleton?
I am certainly not "pro" him but he seems perfectly qualified to be the manager of a league 1 club. What has he done that's so bad you would have anybody else other than him?7 -
I’m beginning to wonder if it will be someone unexpected and left field4

A 54 year old that has manged 13 games and drew 3, lost 10.Starinnaddick said:I imagine we can't match Mark Robson's current salary.
No doubt a very good coach but hardly the sort of gamble we need to be making is it? If we could afford his wages, which as you say we can't.1 -

Pol Pot ticks the ‘nasty bastard’ box that some of our fans seem desperate for. I’d like to see Charlie Kirk pull out of a challenge when there’s a long-dead murderous tyrant glowering at him on the sidelines.Cafc43v3r said:

Much as I loved Jorge Costa, he would know nothing about the English lower leagues. Then neither would Mumbai Des.If we’re back to former players, you’d think Jason Euell might be worth considering?
Cue Appleton announcement!4 -

I'm pretty convinced that whoever we get won't be a big upgrade.1 -
More realistically, a poor appointment will leave us stuck in mid table mediocrity for the 3rd season running.Mendonca In Asdas said:Next appointment is absolutely crucial, without sounding too doomsday, balls this one up, and they’ll be little left of the club in league 2, we need someone who can unite the fans, and not be so naff they’ll get the heave ho by Christmas.1 -
I am probably biased given my disclosure last night, but I feel quite positive about Appleton.
Like us he needs this to work and I think he will be good given his record at Lincoln and Oxford.
Onwards and upwards.

Make no mistake a poor appointment could leave us in the 4th division for the first time in our history.killerandflash said:

It would have to be a TERRIBLE appointment to do that, and realistically that's not going to happen. The likes of Appleton and the Cowleys are unexciting, but they're also both safe pairs of hands as well.Cafc43v3r said:

A half decent manager will get us around 8th-12th, the likes of Appleton and Cowley are half decent.
A gamble on someone who has never managed or only in the Belgium 4th division, the India Premier league or at the University of Bath could get us in the play offs but could also get us relegated.
Some might think it's refreshing, I think it's idiotic.
The issues that have lead to this situation need to be resolved else we won't ever attract someone "exciting" and if we did they would fail anyway.2 -

We get in a manger from Mumbai it could work but if it doesn't, more compensation they'll need to pay out and we could be right in the shit and then no one really will want to take it on.
Cowley in particular will give us an outside chance of play offs but at the very least not make the season a disaster, sadly enough that will do me for now, what a time0
