All this talk about letting Bowyer go is just insane. Get a grip people. Cannot understand anyone in their right mind thinking that Lee has become a bad manager overnight. Todays squad isnt a shadow of the team that got us to the play offs. I blame the internet....everyone wants instant gratification nowadays....success is earned its not a god given right.17

Is it earned by playing a forward at right back? Or just by public insults of the players you yourself signed?TEL said:All this talk about letting Bowyer go is just insane. Get a grip people. Bowyer has not become bad overnight. That is absurd. Results (and performances) have been increasingly poor much longer than that.5 -
Harry Beadle is the next off the conveyor belt - trust me, he's taken a while to come to the boil but he is gonna be the next one into the first team and he will be a fans favourite - the boy is a 100%er and along with his brother James in goal, will be the backbone of our team for years to come - COYR!!!!!addick1956 said:

He played right and left centre half Tuesday, has played right back and midfield so we all know that. I think Bowyer was right to pick him. Why do you think it was a poor selection?addick1956 said:
It can be thrown away with poor selections though. Osilaja has been fine at RCB and can play elsewhere too.TEL said:All this talk about letting Bowyer go is just insane. Get a grip people. Smyth is a loan so sending him back wont really free up any money. The other 2 were only recruited 6 months ago & on 2 year contracts at least. Hard to move them on and to add into the mix I'm pretty sure Washington was signed before the cap was introduced.DOUCHER said:

Sad to say I don't think we'll be signing anyone this month - only a loan if the loanee club will pay virtually all the wages. Or if we get rid of Oztumer & use his wages - but I doubt he's on much in any case.0 -
Don’t get the anti-Washington vibe
hes a great team player, and has been our only consistent goal threat this season!65 -

Harry is a character to say the least. I managed a cricket team that he and my son was in when they were young and you couldn't help but laugh at some of his antics. He was a decent fast bowler and a very quick across the ground fielder but football was always his calling which is why he concentrated on that from the age of 13.
Both his parents are tall but I did hear that he's only really grown into his frame in the last year or so?2 -
Agree. At this level Washington is decent, works hard and great team ethic.sammy391 said:Don’t get the anti-Washington vibe

Like all strikers he'll miss many chances, but he'll convert a good number.
All he needs is the right set up to get the best out of his game, the right players around him and a supply of chances.
He's not a target man though and his hold up play is not his main strength.
IMO his game has suffered in the absence of Shinnie and the imbalance of some of Bowyer's recent team set ups.

He's gone to Huddersfield, not Helsinki. It's about 200 miles away, i'm sure he'll be fine.golfaddick said:
I doubted it as it seems a very strange move - for both parties. He is a loooong way from home & Huddersfield is hardly a football Mecca. I suppose for them he's a "punt" like Bonne was for us and would be interested in knowing the exact transfer fee as I'm sure we would have paid £200k back in October.paulie8290 said:

I don't think it was 7 figures but it was more than we were prepared to go. I thought we offered around that figure (sure it was quoted on here at the time) and had the feeling they wanted double. I call bullshit on the "rumour" - can't see him going up to Huddersfield.Braziliance said:Fee of 200k, wasn't they looking for 7 figures minimum? I don't see him going for that price
He'll more than likely be elated at getting a move into league football.1 -

Washington signed a 2 year deal and Bogle a 1 year with an optional 2nd year.golfaddick said:

Bowyer didn't feel confident putting him in at centre half because he wasn't ready and he felt less damage would be done to him and the team if he was at RB. Pratley played at centre back in two of those games to accommodate him. He did well against Crewe, scored an own goal and was subbed after 60 minutes against Doncaster and was completely lost against Lincoln. I don't blame him for any of that, but he's very young and he's clearly not ready. It doesn't matter that Pele was playing for Brazil at his age, players progress at different speeds and Barker isn't there yet according to a manager who has never been shy about using our youth players in a pinch. You can do a lot of harm to a player by throwing them into a difficult situation and putting too much responsibility on them too early; just look how long it took Grant to regain his confidence after being chucked up against Championship sides when he was miles off.

He only made his debut for the U23s in November so it seems unlikely he's the next one in the first team.DOUCHER said:

I think Washy's done all right this season, he's gone off the boil a bit recently, and needs to get going again, but then again so have quite a few!
So i wouldn't be singling him out, i'm not quite sure what people expect?6 -

im not knocking Washington but I wouldn’t call him a goal threat
In addition to this he's only got away 19 shots to Aneke's 35. Making his goal conversion 32% to Chuks 26%.
If he gets away more shots, he either becomes
A- More of a goal threat
or
B - Equally/More wasteful than Chuks

Talks about how the Salary Cap is just as difficult for them as they cant move players on

At best they can only be a rough guide - and don't really measure a players all round performance or the interaction of his team players, that he relies on.
And then trying to compare one player with another who doesn't even play the same role ...... (!)
We'd never heard of this glorified navel gazing or dissection to the nth degree until Sky bought out football and reduced it to the level of some dumb arsed American TV game show.
Oh, well ..... each to their own, I suppose.

yes, i've been good friends with the family since Harry was a toddler - i know them very well and you're right, he has been hampered a bit by not getting the growth spurt til the last year or so - he will be a machine in the next year or so and the crowd will love him and his brother - charlton through and through they areAddick Addict said:DOUCHER said:

I suspect to be a step ahead of other clubs who may also wish to sign him but on a free. Clubs they might fear would be more attractive to the player, like Celtic. But a club more interested than stealing the player.lordromford said:Can someone explain why a club would pay a fee for Doughty now rather than get him for free in the summer?
As he’s injured until at least March, he probably won’t be up to speed until he’s had a preseason surely, so does he really have value this season? Also, wouldn’t Alfie himself prefer to move in the summer when he can get higher wages due to the lack of fee?1
