We’ve also got to remember that football isn’t just a case of having the best players, they need to work within your system. Our problem is that we have some decent players but we’re not currently able to play to their strengths. Part of that is Bowyer going back to his favourite diamond, which I have never been a fan of, and the biggest part is injuries. Gilbey is a very good player, he wouldn’t have been player of the season repeatedly if he wasn’t. The problem is to get the best out of him he needs dynamic movement and width ahead of him. His best skills are his varied passing and his ability to come alive in the final third. The problem is for that to happen you need width and speed to create gaps and give him space to pass into, and you need to create pressure up top to give him areas to run into late. At the moment we’re one paced and the ball mostly flies between our frontline and back line, which cuts his best talents out. Similarly Watson’s lack of pace is exposed away from a midfield 3 and our lack of two channel running strikers hurts us. I would like if Bowyer would revert to the 4-3-3 with Washington and Smyth out wide but he seems to have been scared off that since we lost Alfie and the centre halves. We might have decent players on paper but a lot of them thrive in disparate systems and with this cap it might take a few windows to sort that out
I have not posted much recently as I’ve been really busy with CACT doing covid testing.
Thanks for all the mentions, you’re nice people.
We must remain supportive of Bowyer, don’t let the lows get too low. His decisions have been strange but hopefully we get clear answers soon. It’s poor right now, has been for 6 weeks, but he’s our manager, and the right manager for the job too.
We desperately miss Inniss, Famewo, Doughty, and Shinnie. Late February can’t come soon enough.
We’ll be happy with the business this month. You don’t need to worry about that. Two new players in the squad for Friday, Schwartz should make the bench.
I can’t say much more, but I think even Golfie might be a little pleased, even if it’s after he’s seen them play.
Hi Sage
Other than Ronnie, is the other signing someone playing in either league 1 or Championship, or an unknown youngster from a Premier team please.

Tyreece John Jules has been mentioned in a couple of places .
Would the Gunners terminated his loan at Donny to allow it ?
Ronnie is almost certainly the one who hasn’t been playing, though maybe Bowyer is counting him training with us as being up to speed. The confusing thing is it seems most likely that the attacking mid is a loan, but unless we’re counting youth games you couldn’t say he’s up to speed.

So the other one, who we were told has been playing regularly and so oven ready, has been playing U23 football? Let’s hope he’s not another Levitt.

Or he's been recalled to be sent on loan to us.
So the Arsenal kid at Donny Rovers then?
Would be a little surprised given Darren Moore was only saying this a week ago
The standout aspect from the line ups of both sides yesterday was the average age of the respective sides - Hull's was 24 and ours nearer 29. They had 7 players 24 or younger whereas we had 2 including an 18 year old loanee. They didn't have a single player over 30 but we had 5 in that category. The average age of Lincoln's starting XI was 24 too with 7 of their side that age or under.
They are clearly building for the future and playing younger, fitter and faster players. We have signed and are playing a lot of bodies that are journeymen whose best years are behind them.
When we went up last time we had the likes of Fosu-Henry, Aribo, Bielik, Cullen, Grant, Dijksteel, Lapslie and even a few cameos from Morgan who were all 23 or under but who went on to make 216 appearances between them. And all six of the ones that have left us are now playing at a higher level - Lapslie is on his way too and yet LB thought he was good enough to make 27 appearances as a 21 year old but who isn't now.
Where are their equivalents this season? Yes we are missing Doughty but who is to say that he isn't going to go the same way as so many before him? Morgan is a reluctant starter for LB too. We also have a couple of young CBs out injured but, again, take a look at the positions that most of the players above played in - the engine room or up top.
For both the short and long term LB has to begin to balance the side. And the absence of Watson and Pratley gives him the chance to start to do that. I hope that he doesn't waste it by not playing the likes of Morgan or by signing yet another player or two with question marks about whether they retain any pace or ability. Or, for that matter, desire.
Bloody hope not, not one to rule anyone out before they’ve put on a shirt but Bowyer is taking the piss saying the second player has been playing regularly....in Palace’s under-21’s!!!!
Attacking mid on loan from a Prem team. Jack Clarke or Anjorin have made the most sense to me out of all the names thrown around. Even then I feel like both of them could secure Championship loans so either would be a coup.

I reckon its him. Certainly won't be the kid from Arsenal who's on loan at Doncaster.

Bowyer said they’ve been playing, you wouldn’t think he’d be talking about u23 games.
I thought LB was just talking about fitness levels when he said they'd been playing regularly. Can't imagine we're going to get a loanee to league one who's been playing regularly in the premier league

I'm a bit puzzled by the attacking midfielder that's played regular unless it's not someone on loan.
But fully qualified to fit Bowyer's strict short-arse requirements.

Myles Peart-Harris, a midfielder with six goals from Chelsea U23 is the other one it could be

Transfer window floodgates now open, new players pouring through the training ground #excited!
