Anyone who blames Bowyer for Maddison leaving and not being successful whilst here is fully entitled to your own opinion. However, it’s incredibly difficult to form any kind of opinion when you just don’t understand what has happened behind the scenes.
If and when the story comes out, everyone who has sided with Maddison will wonder what was going through their mind to question the decisions Bowyer makes.
I am not in a position to put a public forum the situation. But what I will say is Maddison does not want to be here anymore and is not committed to the cause. When that is the case, it’s best to get rid. No matter how talented that individual may be with a football at their feet.
I am with Bowyer 100% and all I can say is, good riddance.
Totally agree......but you have to ask yourself why Maddison doesn't want to be here anymore...? Might it be because his manager publicly slated him & when asked about his injury said he couldn't care.
Loyalty works both ways.
I think you’ll find the problem with Maddison came before that and we were then in final straw territory. I don’t know anything but think it’s all been blatantly obvious to see.
It's blatantly obvious to some and yet others are still clueless. Maddison was rarely injured before he joined us and yet he was out for some time from the off. I suggest there's been a problem with him from the off. I can't understand why the minority want a bad egg who upsets the team ethos and tries to drag everyone down .
Another thing on Maddison. Half of Posh’s fans couldn’t stand him. Can you imagine having a midfielder who regularly got 20 to 30 goals + assists in a season and him not be universally liked, or even be thought of as one of the club’s best ever players? What kind of almighty great tool must you have to be to be that good and still disliked by your own supporters?
I suspect the only thing Bowyer is guilty of here is hubris in thinking he could be the one to change Maddison into a functioning human being.
Lost out to Wycombe for Ofoborh Lost out to Wigan for Solomon-Otabor Couldn’t tempt Exeter with the Randall deal Missed out for whatever reason with Kirk Let go of Wiredu Trying to get rid of Williams Trying to get rid of Maddison Brought in a loanee from Arsenal
Same old Charlton.
If you add the entire window into the equation, it reads very differently......
It isn't a disaster overall, but we have ground to make up and if we are going to lose Williams and Maddison, we need to bring at least one decent player in.
Maybe its best to get rid of Maddison, but that begs the question why sign him in the first place? Excuse me for thinking its not cracking business signing a player and shipping him after 4 months.
Not at all good business (although the circumstances weren't ideal for getting it right) but having taken the risk and it not working isn't the best thing to to cut our losses and move him on?
If it's not working, and from what @sage and Cawley are saying that's as much if not more about Maddison that Bowyer, than do something about it.
Maddison has started FOUR league games for us, and come off the bench 4 times.
He played reasonably well against Wimbledon and Swindon, scores that wonder goal off the bench vs Plymouth, and his reward was to not feature at all vs Hull
Then in the next game he injures himself after coming off the bench, and his manager says he doesn't care if he's injured because he pulled out of a tackle.
Maddison may be an arsehole - none of us know the truth - but he's hardly been managed well either or given a fair chance to show what he can do, when the likes of Bogle, Gilbey and Watson have played far more games without exactly covering themselves in glory.
Agree, Bowyer has hardly been ingratiating himself with Maddison. So I will defer my view as to wether he needs to go, until somebody tells me why. But, right now I see a talented player being forced out for reasons unknown....
What Bowyer said about Maddison is on public record. What Maddison has said about Bowyer isn't.
Would you feel differently if you knew what Maddison had said was on public record?
Well knowing both sides to an argument does change things.
I might turn around as @Sage suggests and go "Oh okay if he's done that, that's completely unacceptable and I agree with Bowyer on this one"
But thats why I dont know how people can criticise Lee when they only know half the story
Was no different when Chris Solly got vilified on here, people only had half the knowledge so he was the villain
Said it at the time, you cant go on Jury Service, hear one side of the story and then pass judgement.
I think there always has to be good reasons why a lot doesnt appear in the public domain
Then people who know the whole story should say.
Well then thats their right to tell or not ... Not mine to say it on their behalf
Wasnt there a comment about Dr Kish who knew about Coquelin (?) being recalled by Arsenal, didnt want his source at Sparrows Lane to get in trouble for passing on what was confidential information so "leaked" it to some Arsenal fan so they could report it as their own news.
Yes.
Chris Thompson was more interested in getting the information to everyone than score a cheap exclusive.
I’m not here to score a cheap exclusive. I’ve sat on this information for a few days at least, other members on here can verify that. I even PM a lifer on here to say I’m going to take the stick that will come and put out a post that will let people know it all comes down to Maddison and that Bowyer is not at fault.
People can be annoyed and rather I not say anything that’s genuinely fine with me. But I recognise that many others would be interested and appreciate it.
@sage I wasn't having a dig at you . You are one of my favourite posters .
I was just verifying how Chris managed to both protect his source and managed to get the information out there even though Dr Kish would not have got credit for it .
As a result Dr K was respected and is now much missed .

I'll translate that. We've got Smith in on loan from Arsenal.

My thinking exactly. It’s the right thing to do but yes, poor decision in the first place.

I appreciate all your insider input around injuries etc, but this feels like someone in the Bowyer camp is trying to keep you onside. If it's that bad it should be public knowledge of those that support the club and put money into it.
This is some real conspiracy theorist twisting. Sage has never posted anything like this before and I'm inclined to believe them. Which is more likely: the so-called 'Bowyer camp' have started feeding fake tidbits of information to forum users to create a conspiracy so a player who's played 8 games can be bundled out of the club without the fans rioting, or you've spent the day criticising Bowyer and Loling posts that you don't agree with and now might be feeling a bit silly if it turns out Maddison leaving is down to him not behaving himself properly, which is something he has a storied history of?
What I heard is that he has pretended to be injured on numerous occasions in training and trudged off to the medical room and left the other players training. He's then on his arse in bed later on with no confirmed injury and posting bollox on social media. Imagine players seeing a team mate do that not once but twice hasn't gone down well. The medical team know he's a lazy bullshitter, the manager knows it, and now the players know it.
Maddison, Williams and Bogle gone in this window, for me that's a sign of Bowyer getting rid of players not willing to die for the shirt. Williams is probably the saddest move because of what he achieved here 18 months ago but he has never got anywhere near that form since, hope Jonny has earned a big signing on fee and a good contract simply for how he helped us get up. As for the other two, Bogle is a poor player at this level and Maddison is a bad apple going backwards in his career.

Sometimes players don’t work out because they aren’t as good as you thought they’d be or it’s all that was available at the time (Bogle). Sometimes players don’t gel (Maddison?)
Pleased a respected poster has inside info on this as the boring few bowyer-out-whatever-the-weather posters would have sharpened the knives yet again.
For me, if we lose Williams and Maddison in addition to Bogle and Smyth, the four we have bought in so far is an upgrade. Another signing would be the icing on the cake.

Think it’s too early to say they’ve been an upgrade. Millar the only one who has started 2+ games and done well. I’m a little concerned about the creativity, definitely feel we need a winger/attacking midfielder if Williams and Maddison both leave.
A lot of people on here now saying he had to go lol'd me in November when I stated I didn't want him as he was not a team player. Such a lot of hot air and hubris on this site.
I think getting rid of Williams and Maddison is wise. They both haven't been playing enough to take up a space in the squad when we have our hands tied by the cap. Everyone calm down and wait and see what happens.
Remember that at the start of the season we came off a complete transfer embargo where we were lucky to sign Watson & Gilbey as the league had forgotten to inform the club. The cap came in and the embargo was lifted. We started the season without a complete squad and a team had to built quickly and within the cap regulations. We had lost Lockyer, Cullen, Phillips and Taylor - the backbone of the team.
In those circumstances I suggest you all give Bowyer and Gallen a big thank you and stop moaning that they didn't get it right every time and be thankful that they did get it right some of the time.
Maddison was always a risk, no one wanted him in Sept, we were desperate to get bodies in so took a flyer on him, it may have worked out, it didn't. Cutting our losses was always a high probability. He's now dropping down a division to Bolton who are fifth bottom of the whole EFL. For a player with his ability that tells you all you need to know, no one else is after him. Williams has always shown his best as an impact sub, would rather keep in the squad but a welsh team a league up come in for in, hard to keep him, he's not going to be the cornerstone of a promotion campaign so again best to move on and see if we can get someone else in. Seems like pragmatic business to me, use the resource we have to get player who contribute more in fingers crossed we can get that done today. Trust Bowyer and Gallen.
1. Failed Medical 2. Passed Medical subject to us replacing him. 3. Passed Medical and deal is done, but CAFC have rights to announce first. 4. Deal revoked as we're managing to move on another similarly paid player (For cap purposes) 5. Fax machine has gone down. All deals are off.

Good chance of 1 or multiple of the following:
