The first part of Cawleys first tweet is rather telling. Saying that Bowyer felt he could change Maddison's character or flaws. Sounds just llike when a women marries an abuser & stays with him thinking that they can change him. You can't. With Maddison you just have to accept who he is - although I do feel that he has possibly changed over the past 12 months & isn't the player that had half a dozen great seasons at Peterborough.
What Bowyer said about Maddison is on public record. What Maddison has said about Bowyer isn't.
Would you feel differently if you knew what Maddison had said was on public record?
I would feel better if none of it is on public record. You get disagreements in football and it is extremely unprofessional to deal with them publicly.
It was a culmination of three incidents were players were publicly humiliated within a short space of time. Now if you think that has no effect on team mates you haven't been in a football dressing room. It also makes the club less attractive to some players.
Seeing a lot of panic on the social media platforms. I am personally saving my panicking for later and I've got fresh sheets at the ready, always best to be prepared for deadline day
My order's arrived from Amazon - in the nick of time.
If that bird shits herself she's guna redecorate the wall not the bed.
Did very well in this league before joining us. 15 goals and 6 assists in BOTH of his two seasons prior to joining Bolton, where he struggled and then us.

Never new they sold women on Amazon. How much did she cost
Lost out to Wycombe for Ofoborh Lost out to Wigan for Solomon-Otabor Couldn’t tempt Exeter with the Randall deal Missed out for whatever reason with Kirk Let go of Wiredu Trying to get rid of Williams Trying to get rid of Maddison Brought in a loanee from Arsenal
Anyone who blames Bowyer for Maddison leaving and not being successful whilst here is fully entitled to your own opinion. However, it’s incredibly difficult to form any kind of opinion when you just don’t understand what has happened behind the scenes.
If and when the story comes out, everyone who has sided with Maddison will wonder what was going through their mind to question the decisions Bowyer makes.
I am not in a position to put a public forum the situation. But what I will say is Maddison does not want to be here anymore and is not committed to the cause. When that is the case, it’s best to get rid. No matter how talented that individual may be with a football at their feet.
I am with Bowyer 100% and all I can say is, good riddance.
Thanks @Sage for some insight, and if MM is going for the reason intimated above then fine, but my beef is getting rid of JW and MM but not seeing replacements (at the time of posting) where we need creativity. I hope we have people lined up before the window closes.
There's some really unbelievable whining on here about the possibility of Maddison moving on. He's a player who has been injured for most of his time with us, hasn't done what was asked of him when he has played and has a reputation for being unpleasant to have at the club and in the dressing room, and hasn't been performing since November 2019. And yet there's plenty having a go at the manager for not being able to manage flair players or his lack of 'emotional intelligence' from a bunch of people who have absolutely no idea what's gone on behind closed doors. And where does it look like he's going? A team in 19th place in League 2. That's who wants him. You'd think if he was the genius some people are making out he is on here then a team in the Play-Offs In L1 or the bottom end of the Championship would be in for him. Nope, looks like if he does go it'll be working to steer clear of relegation from the Football League. Maybe Bowyer isn't the only one looking at a player and deciding that the negative outweighs the positive

Same old Charlton.
So far... Signed Millar who’s been our best player the last few weeks. Signed a championship striker on loan who is better than Bogle the one we got rid of. Tempted an Arsenal loanee away from a side who’s supporters say was their best player. Linked with several other players and still have time to sign them.

Well knowing both sides to an argument does change things.
I might turn around as @Sage suggests and go "Oh okay if he's done that, that's completely unacceptable and I agree with Bowyer on this one"
I think people forget it’s not always just a player / manager thing. Squad unity is a massive thing, even more so this year with the life and bubble impacts. Having someone in that group who is a bad egg, a cock, whatever can cause real ructions.
The manager may well have signed him thinking he can smooth out the rough edges and you can question the wisdom on that, but once ‘the group’ decide someone is toxic and it’s irreconcilable then it’s in everyone’s best interests to part ways. Absolutely no idea if that’s the case here, but it’s been what my hunch has been for the past few weeks and the only surprise to me is a potential moving out rumour only started today. I suspected we’d have to pay someone to take him on.
The battle scars left on fans after the Roly/ESI years are very evident on this thread. Firmly believe we are starting our ascent back to being a properly run club. I’m hopeful for two more in and fully believe Bows and SG are going all out to get things done. I’m filled with excitement and not dread!
Yup, which is understandable too when you think how long we’ve had a proper full transfer window without ESI or Roland. Been a very long time to experience something which should be normal for every club in the country twice a year.

It's Transfer Deadline Day and in just a few hours the window slams shut. Everybody on here is going to be stressed out.
But you do look very relaxed in the photo, @Callum.

New Charlton. You forgot the players we have signed this window. All an upgrade IMO.
Not bothered about Maddison going in the slightest. Not even bothered if Williams departs as long as we can land a decent replacement. Neither of them have lived up to their full potential since coming to Charlton.

But thats why I dont know how people can criticise Lee when they only know half the story
Was no different when Chris Solly got vilified on here, people only had half the knowledge so he was the villain
Said it at the time, you cant go on Jury Service, hear one side of the story and then pass judgement.
I think there always has to be good reasons why a lot doesnt appear in the public domain
If you have half the story you will form an opinion rightly or wrongly. More often than not it will be biased.
If you have none of it you cannot and as such we'd form assumptions as to what happened, which is wrong but is what always used to happen.
If you have both sides you're a lot more likely to form a fair opinion. So if one side comes out, the best solution to stop that happening is to let people know the full story.
See Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
At first it was "oh my god Johnny Depp did that? I can see why the movie deals were pulled"
Then it was "oh my god she did what? that's disgusting, she should lose her movie deals too"
Now it's "they're both bad for one another and have both been very in the wrong him for x her for y, they're better off apart"
I cannot believe I have just used that as an argument, but it's there and I hate it. I want to know that my judgment is wrong when it is.

Agree with your first two points.
3rd point - didn't the Swindon manager want rid.
4th point - trying to get players and not getting them is not a positive. If we sign someone now who is not those 3 then we know he is was at least 4th choice.

Then people who know the whole story should say.
Well then thats their right to tell or not ... Not mine to say it on their behalf
Wasnt there a comment about Dr Kish who knew about Coquelin (?) being recalled by Arsenal, didnt want his source at Sparrows Lane to get in trouble for passing on what was confidential information so "leaked" it to some Arsenal fan so they could report it as their own news.

2 wins in 9 is not the time to be making the squad weaker.
Then a flair player or 2 can be added to provide the unpredictable, but on a firm foundation.

In league one do me a favour.
We need CB’s. End of
