I’d let him go in a heartbeat. He is a very good player when he’s on his game but it doesn’t happen often enough. I actually think that he is more suited to The Championship where the football is less direct and physical than League 1. At the start of last season when we had him, Cullen and Gallagher was when we played our best football until he got injured. If he doesn’t leave now he will go at the end of the season so we’d be better to try and start rebuilding now
We are on the home strait of the transfer window. That doesn’t give us much time to rebuild
But I'd move him on if we have a replacement signing lined up who is better, I'd keep him if we don't. It's that simple. 200k is not worth jeopardising the next 21 games, given we can't apparently spend the money we have anyway.
100k for bogle, he would have cost us money. surely we encouraged bogle to leave with a pay off? Unless doncaster have matched or increased his salary.
Alfie £650,000 Money left over from Bonne £1.5m Bogle £100k Lapsile £100k Williams?.
Can anyone see us spending tomorrow?.
The KAG sell on would have been more than all of the above combined. That said with Covid, our losses will be huge, my so hardly a surprise we have not seen spending.
Will be interesting to see if TS is more generous than RD in time though which is certainly what many believe, I think because of his stated ambition.

I thought Sandgaard already said that the Bonne money went back in to run the club day-to-day.
I am not making any comparisons but can you imagine what the reaction would have been if our Belgium friend sold 5 players and replaced them with frees and loans and used the fees to cover some of the day-to-day costs?

Not to mention sign a player from his native country... Oh no!!!

Our Belgian friend didn't have a salary cap to deal with, apart from the self-imposed one.
In my opinion we’d have got nothing for Bogle, maybe even had to pay up part of the remainder of his contract, and maybe £10k to £20k for Lapslie, we sold him to Mansfield not Man Utd.

Not making any comparisons but then did exactly that. We all know the reasons he can’t splash the cash - the cap - and the sales have been players Bowyer has wanted to or agreed to move on.

If we’re not talking to him about a new deal then he’d be mad not to go. I’d rather he stayed but equally, not devastated if he does leave.
Can change a game but injuries always lurking and doesn’t carry a huge goal or assist threat.
I think he has missed 1 game through injury in the last year.
‘Lurking’
You dont think JW is injury prone?
A lot of his historic injuries are through being kicked or falling after being kicked, I don't think he is as injury prone as people make out. Also worth mentioning but he hasn't seemed to of had the muscle injuries in training that a lot of our players have had over the last 18 months.
JFC/Pratley/Watson taking one or two roles in the centre of midfield, depending on whether or not we play a diamond or flat 4-4-2.
I think he likes Shinnie a lot and would start him when fit, along with Millar operating on the left if we play a flat 4-4-2 or at the tip of the diamond.
After that he’s looking at Morgan and Gilbey and perhaps rotating them in for the odd game, but more than likely occupying the bench.
It’s difficult to predict as we seem to make changes every week. The only 2 that are nailed on imo to start every game at the moment are Pratley and JFC (rightly or wrongly). Shinnie I expect to be added to those 2 now getting back to fitness, and Millar has impressed. So that may constitute our midfield moving forward.
If Williams stays, I’d say he’s got a job on his hands to get into Bowyer’s plans. God knows where this leaves Maddison
any good management team would not only plan for arrivals in a transfer window but also for the possibilities of the club being approached "sell" players and will have a plan in place. I am not ITK but guess that Gallen has planned for this eventuality but whether we has the time to effect it is another matter.
Whatever we get for Johnny add it to whatever we’ve offered for Randall. We have TS in now & he has talked the talk but we still aren’t pushing the boat out! A good finish to this window could see us really kick on!
I want us to keep Williams, he is a good player but LB doesn't use him enough. Its ok buying Randall but how do we know he can deliver at League 1 level, he's not been above League 2. I agree with some others that we keep Williams and buy Randall, offer JW a new contract now and have Randall as the new project.
Williams doesn't have a defined role in our team and except the first part of the Championship season when everything clicked, never has.
There is obvious skill and talent there and seemingly a great attitude but not enough goals or goal contributions. Bowyer prefers Shinnie as a technical central midfielder, we don't regularly play with wingers unless it's a 4-3-3 (and Williams isn't a forward 3 player) and he's not going to play in a central 2 or even a 3 when we have Watson, Pratley, JFC and Morgan and Bowyer's priority is solidity and on the rare occasions when openness is afforded he has Shinnie and notionally Maddison. It feels like he should be something for us but it won't ever happen under Bowyer. In a cap-driven and low income environment he is a bit of a passenger in our squad. He won't be here next season whatever happens.
Off loading Williams for any fee is an absolute no brainer. He is a peripheral player, who can't be relied upon to regularly play 90 minutes.
I said it last year but these type of players are exactly what we don't need. There's rightly been a lot of love for the 90s and noughties teams. They were built on settled sides.

IMO the times when we have played well (most of 2019) under Bowyer we have played a diamond and when we have struggled (most of 2020) we haven't. The majority of this squad is perfect for that formation. I am convinced that the emergence of Doughty clouded that.
But now we have Pratley and Watson to cover the base, Shinnie, JFC, Morgan and Gilbey for the sides and Millar and Williams for the tip. Any combination should be easily good enough for league 1.
I honestly don't see the point of letting Williams go, especially if we are going to play the diamond.
On rumours, I see Rotherham have paid up defender Adam Thompsons contract. Warne was alluding to us recently re having problems with the salary cap. Could he be the centre half @DOUCHER is referring to?

Got to remember how much we paid for Purrington as an example, we also signed Schwartz for about £300k

I am sure @Sage can add something either way.
