Still no sign of any East Street strategy - hard to tell until players are signed or sold.0

SouthLincsAddick said:So Cawley is adamant that Clarke-Harris would be a Taylor replacement. You can kinda see the logic, sell Taylor for a couple of Million and invest it in a 25 year old who scored 20 in his last 29 league appearances on a 3 year deal. Or lose Taylor in the summer and lose that £2m.

Maddison just couldnt agree terms with us after all terms had been agreed with Charlton and Peterborough
Birmingham bids pretty much the same as ours
Another mid-table Championship team about to sell two players, with that money they're likely to buy him tomorrow
So, anyone on here know how to buy a house?6 -
Why are people surprised? MS has been very honest and transparent about the club's plans in the transfer market and yet somehow people were expecting something entirely different. I think many still seem to be getting over the disappointment that we're clearly not the next Man City.

As for transparent, only need to buy the ground... to technically own nothing. Bowyer a priority, to bowyer after the window, to offering him a deal 24 hours later after it backfires. As of now he talks a good game, but transparent wouldn't be the wording I'd use.4 -
Bedsaddick said:it seems obvious we are still trying to buy in the bargain basement department of footballers and that raises a very large red flag . If we sign a Rangers reserve just like we did with dodo and sell Taylor just like we did with Kermogant then nothing has changed from the last regime. We might as well still be owned by RD
( some would argue we are partially. )
Why does it raise a flag? There have been plenty of examples of players moving up from lower leagues very successfully.
If we can replace Taylor and get a very decent fee in the process allowing us to further invest is that a huge problem? He will go for a free in the summer unless he signs, of course I want to keep him and we know he is a proven goal scorer. If he wants away and won't accept his deal how much focus are we going to get?
In what way are might we still as well be owned by RD?
The truth is none of know the conversations SG and his team are having with what players, most deals in January happen in the last two days. We are just entering that period...

Jonson Clarke-harris is probably the closest around to Taylor in style.
Great- go all out to sign him in the summer.
But if he is being signed to replace Taylor they can fecking do one.
What Taylor brings to this team is so much more than goals - to us he is greater than the sum of his parts and nigh on irreplaceable like for like.
As a statement of intent from the new owners this is a biggie.
Don't get it wrong14 -

1. We’re rich, funded by the Sheikh, we’ll buy our way to European glory
2. ESI are chancers, are lying to us and have no money. As bad or possibly worse than Roland.9 -

A bit surprised we haven’t been linked with any Man City loans.
The least one would expect from a chap from the city when he sees another chap in a bit of bother. Thin edge not to.0 -

I think people know the transfer strategy, buy from the lower leagues , improve them as players and sell them. Which is why they were so keen on retaining Bowyer on his recent record with these sorts of players. I think having said they were keen to bring in re-inforcements in the transfer window, which is why they triggered the deal early on the purchase, we were expecting to see a bit more positve meovement on players up to this point.
i expected to see a couple of loan signings from yougsters out of the prem and a couple of league 1 signings who have the scope to fit the MS model. What i dont think anyone wants to see is Lyle Taylor heading out of the door at this point of the season.

If signings are made in the next couple of days or players are sold I'll be a little clearer. Our short term priority has to be to stay up.0 -

No, that's just the kids on other social media.
On CL other than one of Mrs Brown's boys, mainly adult questions have been asked of the Chairman. I have been waiting since Jan 2nd for an indication of their Philosophy and their investments.
In 38 hours we will know for sure but in the next few hours the picture will emerge.0 -
Is Docherty match fit if we sign him? Can he play Saturday?0

It looks to me that Harris is the replacement for Taylor IF he goes. Crawley has heard something as he says he didn't make it up.
Won't be a great start for the new "owners" first game of we loose Taylor and loose against Barnsley.
We never have a good Jan transfer window even before Roland.
Best we can hope for Taylor stays, Harris comes in,Rangers reserve comes in.
Be prepared for the usual "we made loads of bids" and the obligatory disapointment.

Taylor the key here
Retain him until the end of the season and bring in some developing players and that will probably do the trick to keep us up.
Sell him and just bring in squad/developing players then we could well be in trouble.7 -
So with the transfer merry go round just starting to turn does this look logical regarding Lyle ? -
Bristol City will get Nakhi Wells so that means they are no longer interested in a striker.
QPR lost Wells so they are looking for a replacement and also Brentford have had an eye on him for a while. - They must be his only 2 destinations.
Peterborough have priced everyone out the market for Toney at £10million so hes staying at Posh.
We get JCH , Hemed, Bonne , Davison plus a loan as our striker options - Is that enough until May ??
