Athletico Charlton said:Absolutely no inside knowledge but I reckon Idah will sign on loan from Norwich today and I reckon he will go on to be a very decent signing.
Good call as long as an additional not a replacement.1 -
I thought the latest with Idah was that Norwich manager wanted to keep him as their 3rd striker?0

My spidey senses tell me today is going to get fucking tasty babyyy12

I was hoping we was going to sign Ronaldo, Messi and Mbappe. Looks like, if we’re lucky, it’s going to be Ron Aldo, Mr Messy and Mcrappe. I suspect it’ll be the Effin NoWan or Robbie Mustoe and Jesper Blomvquist0

Did anyone else prefer it when Gallen and Bowyer were dealing with transfers?0

There’s no way in my mind that SG and LB will just stand by and watch the transfer window fizzle out. They must have some input and discussion with MS during negotiations.wmcf123 said:Did anyone else prefer it when Gallen and Bowyer were dealing with transfers?15 -
That can only be answered in 60 hours time, but the relationship and dynamic between Steve and Lee feels different now Matt Southall is a hands on Chairman.wmcf123 said:Did anyone else prefer it when Gallen and Bowyer were dealing with transfers?1 -

In what way does it feel different? What experience of their relationship do you have?soapboxsam said:

When they signed all those players at the end of the summer transfer window, just like what will happen this time around as well.wmcf123 said:Did anyone else prefer it when Gallen and Bowyer were dealing with transfers?
Have a little faith people.1 -
Ahh that would be frustrating if true.ValleyGary said:0 -
Someone on Twitter claiming a Shamrock Rovers player rejected us due to the wages offered. If true presumably Jack Byrne who was mentioned on here yesterday.4
-
Hysteria on here is mad.
When we had that full strength squad we looked a fantastic team, injury crisis comes and so does lack of points. Players are coming back and you can already see the difference against Fulham.
We could do with the 3 points for sure but I trust Bowyer & ESI to get the job done.
Keep the faith..7 -
Isn't that what was said on here other than it was the club not the player?Scoham said:Fake Henry claiming on Twitter a Shamrock Rovers player rejected us due to the wages offered. Presumably Jack Byrne who was mentioned on here yesterday.
Fake Henry, Fake news1 -
The Oztumer saga is a perfect example of how frustrating January can be and wont be the fault of anyone at Charlton if we dont manage to do a deal
Dont forget Erhun was practically ready to sign this time last year yet the deal fell through because Bolton didnt get their own replacement in
Id be shocked if events like that arent the reason for the slow activity1 -
We needed help before the PNE game which was winnable, nothing happened.
LB asked for players before the Fulham game ,nothing happened.
LB has said he wants 5 players in ----- ???
To late for 5 and the best I think is the brother of a good player, the guy from Rangers reserves of Maddison and a loan forward.
That's the best and would do but I think it's now unlikely
Still ESi got in a PR guy straight away so fuc k the playing side3 -
I get that but other clubs are getting things done and you’d think we’re more desperate than most due to injuries and league position, plus the fact we’ve been told we’d get a few in, all this should have been done earlier.ForeverAddickted said:The Oztumer saga is a perfect example of how frustrating January can be and wont be the fault of anyone at Charlton if we dont manage to do a deal

Agreed. The loans we seem to be looking at appear to have some real pedigree and are in, or on the cusp of being in some top sides.ForeverAddickted said:The Oztumer saga is a perfect example of how frustrating January can be and wont be the fault of anyone at Charlton if we dont manage to do a deal

There is a fair shortage of firepower in the prem at the moment and those lower clubs with some firepower are obviously scared their prised assets may be snatched. They are scared to let go of their cusp players in case they are left with nothing.0 -

But apparently that’s irrelevant, “I don’t care what other clubs are doing, I care what we do”.ForeverAddickted said:The Oztumer saga is a perfect example of how frustrating January can be and wont be the fault of anyone at Charlton if we dont manage to do a deal

The only signings being made are where clubs are turning loans into permanent transfers2 -
Have a look through my posts and you’ll see I have been positive and have also said it is fair to judge them once the window is closed. It really is a waste of time judging them beforehand when this window always happens in this exact way. My point was you’re constantly so negative, it really must be draining and a strain on your life. That same energy can be used to look at things in a different light and understand the challenges they’ve faced, but that we haven’t sold anyone, we’ve got Bowyer signed up on a new deal, and we will be bringing players through the door. Players we have lost, such as Gallagher, again, completely out of our control.golfaddick said:
Find something positive then & post it. I'm only saying it as it is.Sage said:
Jesus Christ, you don’t stop. I’ve never come across anyone as negative and pessimistic about anything and everything. I think we could sign Messi and you’d say he’s on the wrong side of 30, what’s he ever done in England etc.golfaddick said:I'm so glad ESI decided that it was so important to get the takeover done this month so they could strengthen the team that actually buying The Valley & Sparrows Lane was put to one side.
Working well that one........
Judge them after the window and trust Bowyer to get the best out of a squad that’s just started to get back together properly.
You’re more than entitled to your opinion, but for once I’d like to read something even slightly positive. Please.
If ESI had signed up Taylor & Cullen (as they said was one of the first things they wanted to do) as well as strengthening the team (as they said was the reason why they rushed through the takeover.......so much in fact they lied to us (until it was wormed out of them) about actually owning the ground) then I'd be only too happy. But they haven't. I have no idea what you do for a living but in my job if I tell a client I'm going to do something, I do it. If I tell them half truths & also go back on my word I dont expect to get praised for it.
Its always best not to over promise & then under deliver.Maybe they shouldn’t have said about trying to sign up Taylor and make Cullen permanent, it was always something out of their control. But I can 100% say they’ve tried. Not ESI’s fault Taylor rejected the offer, he’s entitled to do that, and not ESI’s fault West Ham triggered the extension in Cullen’s contract because he’s playing well and they’re in a bad position in the Premier League.
You very much come across as if you’d be happier if Roland was still here, and I can assure you things would be far, far worse if that was the case, Taylor and Bowyer wouldn’t be here right now. One sold and one walked. Let’s just try and be a little bit more positive.16 -
Leeds have got them done. They've made 3 signings (keeper, winger, striker).ForeverAddickted said:

Admittedly a lot easier for a side top of the table to make signings than one that is 4th from bottom though.1 -
There’s still several deals being done though and we’re in a different position to most teams and with currently the lowest wage budget it would be nice to bridge that gap to be on par with other teams, I really thought we’d go for it this window after that press conference mentioning 3 bids made etc and now the only rumours coming out are for loans of 17-19 year old players, don’t get me wrong I’m still buzzing Roland has gone but it all just feels a bit disappointing at the moment.ForeverAddickted said

Keep the faith, we are not down yet! Yes I agree it is frustrating it seems to be a slow window (same as ever!) but we do have a lot of returning players, hopefully we sign a couple of people. Striker/ CM ideally, but we cant go crazy as most of the rebuilding would be in the summer.
Fingers crossed like the main window we pull out a couple of crackers to ensure safety.

I'd agree with that side of the argument if we were one of a few to do very little business but its the other way around, your looking at a very few who have done anything0 -
Let's be real, if Roland was in charge we wouldn't be thinking about signings or transfers we'd be thinking about who he's going to sell on the last day to shaft us.16

Dont forget though as Gallen said in the Press Conference; its not just a case of going to find three players with those being your targetsJamie19 said:

You have at least ten players who end up getting whittled down0 -
Good job all the new signings have had a full weeks training with the squad in order to bed in for Saturday.1
