More fighting, water cannons being used

    ..

Been watching the RT feed which is from just out side the ground at the moment. England fans in good spirits and no sign of violence but there are going to be some serious hang overs tomorrow.

Kicking off now. The Russians have arrived.

Just been watching that feed. It is literally like a war zone. Running battles, tear gas, water cannon, the lot

    Yes.
fair enough, just when I turned it over the presenter was saying about the great atmosphere in the ground with the fans. just been watching bbc news the people they have been speaking to have all said the police are very much to blame for losing control.

It looks like it could be a parody of football fans fighting. They're throwing plastic and lightweight chairs FFS. Feels like their mums should just pop out at any time and call them in for dinner, then yell at them because she told them "Don't throw things."

Absolutely love all the posturing though.

In a country beset by real violence, and threats of violence, you hope that everyone (supporters, "ultras," and police) could do with a bit of calm and common sense. There are bigger problems in the world, particularly now.

Good point SD. You forgot to account for a couple of things though: the inability to have a pint without turning into a wannabe Popeye, and a real lack of intelligence.

Interesting to hear that there have been 20k+ Welsh fans in Bordeaux. Look at all the bother there - NOT!

Sick and tired of reading excuses on here for the behaviour of these inept imbeciles.

How many Welsh fans were attacked by ultras?

I don't know the background but are all the England fans literally blameless?

Ironically, the Russians and French youths wouldn't have got away with this if there wasn't so many England 'boys' on bans. This is easy pickings for the Russians and the cowardly French. Drunken gobshites and normal fans not looking for trouble. They'd have faced much stiffer opposition if so many of the England lot hadn't had their passports taken off them!

Oh yeah ok, all the "top boys" are more than a match for the Ruskies yeah? We're not a fucking patch on them matey, top boys or not

Some of our lads just wanted to have a quiet discussion over a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon about the merits of Sartre and Camus, and the violent Russians and French police have ruined it.

Of course not and far from it but the way it's portrayed is England football fans bad every other set of fans lovable rogues just out for a laugh.

Know loads of people gone out to the tournament to support us and most probably have never thrown a fist in anger in their lives but they and the rest of us as English football supporters are being tarnished as scum just because of being English football supporters. Not denying we have probably got loads of tossbags out there stoking it but there are numerous reports of "normal" supporters just being attacked by French and Russian ultras and the French police.

Wouldn't be surprised if this now goes badly wrong in stadium. Poor segregation from what I've heard

The French police crowd control is shit isn't it.

I can't see either the outside the ground violence getting so out of control or the in ground violence happening these days at UK venues.
