I'm not an expert but it is against the law and as such the courts can I think ban a fan from attending football matches. Not sure the club need to be particularly pro active.
it would be difficult though if 200 were on the pitch. Plod wouldn't be too happy to process that lot, would take till Wednesday week, and surely likely to just escort them from the premises and release without charge?
Thing is though. It won't be everyone that gets arrested. It will be an unlucky half dozen or so. I wouldn't want anyone banned but the police could ask the judge without CAFC being involved. Minimum 3 years.
Violence and Disorder
For s.14A and s.14B orders, "violence" means violence against persons or property and includes threatening violence and doing anything which endangers the life of any person.
Also, disorder includes:
a. stirring up hatred against a group of persons defined by reference to colour, race, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origins, or against an individual as a member of such a group,
b. using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour,
c. displaying any writing or other thing which is threatening, abusive or insulting.

Sorry but I won't be participating in the pitch invasion! I've not attended the last 4 home games despite having a season ticket, I won't go to another home game until the wanker has left our club!
I will come down for the protests outside the ground!
It may be too late to do anything about this now but if the club do decide to go after those that go onto the pitch, something I doubt they will do but they could, changing your seat would be a great way to let them know you are involved. Far better, I would have thought, to just buy another ticket for cash on the day. Although this, clearly, puts money in their pockets it might save a ban.
One other point to note is that if the ban is issued in the courts a Peter Varney takeover will not be able to cancel it. If the pitch invasion is peaceful then I suspect there will be little consequence. However, if just one fan decides to have half a dozen pints and a couple of lines of Charlie, before coming to the game, and knocks out a Steward or a Police Officer it is likely that the ensuing melee will have significant consequences for many of those on the pitch and certainly all those that look to have been responsible for arranging it.
I'm not ashamed to say that I'm one of those that wants protests and change but lacks the courage to get involved with this type of thing. It doesn't make me a bad man, I'm not even sure it makes me a coward, but I am grateful for those that do this and wouldn't want a small detail to cause them long term consequences.
Best of luck!
In that case, why not get everyone who is going to the game (not just the pitch invaders/active protesters) to try to change their seat????
Breaches of a requirement imposed by an earlier banning order; Committing an offence for bringing prohibited articles (alcohol, containers and fireworks, firearms) into a ground or while entering or trying to enter the ground;
Being found to be under the influence of alcohol in the football stadium or while entering or trying to enter the ground; Committing any offence under the Football (Offences) Act 1991 (throwing missiles, chanting of indecent or racist nature and entering the playing area).
Committing offences of violence (particularly offences under the Public Order Act 1986) to another person or property when the violence is related to a football match.
Big mistake. What happens if we are winning ? Lose all respect for your efforts if this goes ahead.
If we're winning, you got any more jokes?
Seriously though, doesn't matter if we're winning. What happens on the pitch doesn't matter anymore.
it does to me
I totally respect everybody's opinion kimbo. But this football club is being ripped to shreds. Surely what happens on the pitch is secondary at the moment? This isn't the Charlton we know, the Charlton that came back from the brink in the 80's. We don't have an owner, manager or set of players (barring 2 or 3) that have a clue what Charlton is all about. We're falling apart day by day. Nothing will ever change on the pitch if we can't get it right off it.

Listen up, folks, because Addickted sits on the safety committee.
How the club reacts to any pitch invasion will be determined by how the people involved behave once on the pitch. If people go anywhere near individual players or officials, try to break the goalposts, etc, you can expect the police to take an interest. Otherwise, they will want to manage the incident with the least possible intervention. I am not encouraging anyone to go on the pitch, but if you do behave sensibly.

CARD need to call off the sniper then....
Just how are decent, law-abiding (if vaguely trainspotting), people supposed to carry out an assassination if we keep falling foul of these laws? Next, you'll be telling me that we can't fit the unprotesting with concrete overshoes, just for a bit of "encouragement".
all of this can be avoided if Duchatelet releases a statement today or tomorrow confirming that he has decided to sell and will be engaging with prosepctive buyers immediately.
over to you Roland.
But the club is always for sale to the right offer (for Roland). He will sell the club when the right offer comes along in his own time. It is not his style, or most other clubs for that matter, to put a for sale sign up. We just have to hope that all the continued protests will give him that extra bit of impetus needed to say yes when a decent offer comes along.
There are loads of reasons we have announced this all of which I won't go into but let's just say it was going to happen and we want it to be PEACEFUL hence why it has been made public!
The plan was to announce it on Sunday though before kick off
The club already knew a pitch invasion was planned and it was discussed at the security meeting with the club.
They also admitted they couldn't stop it so just asked it be kept peaceful.
I also don't think they plan to stop it but we will see I guess!!

This is my worry, if this all goes ahead, I am sure the vast majority of people who get on the pitch will be doing it with the right intentions. However it just takes one boozed/coked up fella to flying kick a ball boy and the good work will be in tatters.

I have had an uneasy feeling about RD ever since he took over. So two years ago I started to dig a tunnel starting from Sam Bartrams old fish and chip shop. My plan all along has been to pop up on the centre spot on 60 minutes of the last televised match in the 15/16 season and now I read this invasion which is likely to spoil my moment in the spot light.
At least if it all kicks off a few can escape from any rampaging blue jacket stewards by hopping down the tunnel.

Good job you didn't get your timing wrong and pop up during "that" video!!!

Make sure you don't come up short like The tunnel digger on the Great Escape. I've got visions of your head popping up towards the corner flag of the south / west corner and deflecting a Reza shot in to the back of the net. I hope for your sake it doesn't put us 1-0 up otherwise all the protests will be ruined because we're winning (and don't forget it's all ok when we're winning)
I don't think any Charlton player will do anything, even if they had the pace to stop the pitch invaders. but hyped up Middlesbrough players who are trying to get promoted and earn at least 50k a week, won't try to intervene ? What about the Charlton fans who are drunk, will they be peaceful ? Good luck guys and girls, but once you cross that line be prepared for the worse possible scenario.
Having said that i ran down to confront Riga when he came off the pitch on Tuesday to asked about the Harriott and Lookman fiasco, so i better keep off the pitch or else they will lock me up for sure with my anger management issues.
I have been at every protest and will be at this one. We are Charlton till we die.

I have read this thread with interest and followed the for and against this action. Many people have different opinions as to what is best so below I'm going to try and put a balanced argument on both sides here so people can make a judgement of what they should do without me expressing my opinion, so here goes -:
Support the pitch invasion - consequences are potentially being arrested, receiving a banning order from football grounds up and down the country and a criminal record. The club, like Blackpool last year, receives a massive fine (£50k I believe), told to play behind closed doors, points deduction, (the last two actions were suspended indefinitely, but will be invoked should it be repeated). Club blame fans for losing money (fine) and making it harder to gain promotion from League 1 due to points deduction. However it will Increase public awareness by TV coverage and cause RD/KM and co massive headache and embarrassment, whilst showing the depth of feeling.
Do not support the pitch invasion - consequences are Ratty and co just laugh at the 'west car park' protests as its not really 'affecting' them. Have a misguided thought that not many supporters are serious enough to cause 'grief' and hence this will all go away at the end of the season. However people wont be arrested, get banned or a criminal record. Our club won't suffer the same fate as Blackpool. The club cant blame the fans for losing more money or making it harder to gain promotion next season. Little TV coverage of all the other 'events' happening on the day and public awareness may not be as high profile.
As I said its not for me to comment as I will be unable to attend (heart operation is now 25th April) and hence I'm in no position to tell others what to do. However whatever you as an individual decide to do, then please let other individuals make their own choice as well, turning on each other will certainly not be the way forward. Remember whatever you choose to do on Sunday it has to be your freedom of choice and no-one else's. I'm not sure if that helps or hinders but I wanted to contribute without expressing my opinion due to the reasons stated above.

You can be banned when you are found guilty of:
Breaches of a requirement imposed by an earlier banning order;

Being found to be under the influence of alcohol in the football stadium or while entering or trying to enter the ground;

intervene ?
