  • You must understand surely that once you throw something you have no control whatsoever over what may follow. If that's not of concern to you then you are truly a moron.
  • The day after we play Millwall at home, the same people who are condoning yesterday's actions will be moaning about Millwall fans tearing up the valley!!

It was an awayday to be proud of ... the type that rarely happens ... I've seldom been so happy with a draw ... but, for some strange reason, some prefer to emphasise the negatives above all else ... such a pity
  • Not a moron, just don't have my head up my own arse, people do things when it all gets a bit exciting, the monent takes control. id bet didnt plan on throwing it.

Just get on with things dont sit on the computer moaning. What is moaning going to do? Nothing so just crack on

I've seen the scars caused by morons throwing fireworks and the like. It's not the culprit who bears those scars but innocent bystanders minding their own business.

If my sitting "on the computer moaning" stops someone else losing an eye or being scarred by such a moronic act I'll keep going thanks.

For all those who enjoyed the flare what is could be worse
racist chanting or a flare going off in someones face

All this macho posturing of some fans really does my head in it is so 70s/80s.I am all for local rivalries but smoke bombs, flares offering people out, is that really what Football is all about?I don't like Millwall, never have done, but it is about time some 40 and 50 year olds grew up from both Millwall and Charlton and other clubs.I didn't go yesterday as I had a ticket for the England NewZealand game.A fantastic atmosphere at that game, great stadium, all supporters sitting together.Proper physical contest on the pitch,a game played by real men.Had a drink afterwards with some NewZealanders and was a great day with England winning.

Piss off and watch the egg-chasing then. If we all wanted to sit together then we'd all watch it too. I love the tribal aspect of football (I don't mean fighting, I mean the "them and us" aspect) , the singing with your own, the passion from the stands, and not to mention the game itself.

I used to play rugby at school. Am I a real man? What a load of bollocks that is.

It really gets my goat when rugby fans try and belittle their football equivalent. If you're a rugby fan then your shit don't stink, fact.
  • But it won't help. It won't do anything. But as been said it didn't hit him, it didn't really come close to it.

Nobody hates Charlton fans apart from Charton fans.

    Lol , so true .
    Nail on head.

The crap being spouted by people who weren't even at the game is unreal.

The flare was nowhere near anyone.

Two sets of fans goaded each other - shock! 99% of ours did it with good humour. 1% overstepped the mark.

Some of the reactions on here make you think that our fans had been raping and looting. Pathetic.
Agree Clem. Would have loved to have been there yesterday. Good on our support for (hopefully) standing & making some noise.

If a flare went off if somebody's face or a rocket shot up somebody's arse blowing them to smithereens then there would be more widespread outrage. But it didn't. And there isn't.

The best things about yesterday was firstly taking the piss there, but also people remembering that the real derby is against those inbreds

Len Glover in over reaction SHOCKER!

You actually saw it thrown then did you Len?

Read the opening post on this thread.

Whether I saw it or not is irrelevant.

It happened. It was wrong and all Charlton fans are damned by association.

It is of course your right to glory and take pride in such behaviour just as it is my right to be ashamed by it.

Thank God it didn't hit the ball boy but that piece of luck does not make it "alright"

I know I am not a proper football fan.
Len at the risk of sounding patronising. I respect ur opinion and enjoy ur posts on CL! However yesterday was different to a normal game, passions were high. I have said I'm not a massive fan of smokes and flares I don't agree that it should have been thrown but it has been blown out of all proportion there is not much in the football world about the flare and it certainly was not on the news! If you had been there you would have been proud of our support all game! The support far outweighed the fans who threw the flare! It was a better support than Fulham away in the cup last season! You would also realise that as a club we will not be damned by association as u put it with the chair and flare throwers! You might want to concern yourself about the number of regular middle aged fans, that were getting grief from the scum outside the ground!

Flares don't 'go off', they are designed to be held in the hand for signalling purposes.

Sad as ever that's there only 140 posts in the post match thread celebrating a hard won point, and over 400 posts in yet another witch hunt of our own.

I'm sorry but I just dont get it.

Sing, give Millwall loads of shit and take the piss. Blinding. Well happy with that. Been there done that.

Chucking flares or smoke stuff is just plain moronic. Hold it up above your head and keep it there if you are man enough, you'd more than likely get a flask of tea in your nappa.

As for the seat throwing muppet, how proud must he be today. Nice one. Not quite sure how he's avoided getting proper grief on here. It's bullshit, it's purile and it's not Charlton.

I have seen the youtube video of the fan and the seat. I expect he will be identified and have to face the consequences of what he has done.
I think the club should offer to pay for any damage to Millwalls ground caused by our fans if they can't be identified like the man on the video.
I think we should apologise to Millwall for any damage caused.
I think that Millwall should do the same thing if their fans cause damage at the Valley.
I think that what I have written above is proportionate. A tiny percentage of our fans were apparantly an embarassment, but most of the day was vastly enjoyable for our support.
I wonder if the Millwall response at the Valley will be in proportion, or will a very few Charlton supporters cause a massively disproportionate reaction by Millwall fans when they visit?
I wasn't there yesterday so I can't comment further beyond thinking I shall proceed with caution when the return fixture comes about.

yes, the Millwall fan who threw the chapstick must have suffered horribl.y dry and cracked lips today. A moron? probably

Nasty bunch of racist thugs. Perhaps not surprising but still shocking at the exten of monkey chants aimed at Haynes and BWP from my seat next to the dugouts. Shame on the club and their pathetic stewards for turning a blind eye to the nastiness. Thought racism was the biggest no-no in football but it turns out that is not the case at Millwall.

You should let the club know what you heard Meldrew as well.

Curb it - you are right but it was clear from yesterday that they really don't care, just as their favourite song tells us!!

All the same, Meldrew. You should report it. Frimpong and Haynes have both tweeted about racist stuff at the game, so if what they say is accurate, you should back them up by reporting what you heard.
Your response to Curb it isn't good enough I'm afraid. If it happened, report it, then something MIGHT be done. If you don't, then you can be sure something WILL NOT be done.
