Said this somewhere before but I was in a box opposite the dug outs and the scum fans were chanting "thief thief thief thief thief thief" and at first I thought it may have been monkey chants but it definitely wasn't
Although you may have heard something different

the flare is fine to me, still not liking the red and white army song. Palace sing that after goals and play the music.
  • Still chuckling at the fat, old (my age) twats calling it outside - why didn't they wade in - silly old men
  • Hand wringers AND Spanner wannabes... ONLY on CL. Love it!

Do it at Palace away - fine.

Other than that, it would be akin to Palace adapting VFR

Nasty bunch of racist thugs. Perhaps not surprising but still shocking at the exten of monkey chants aimed at Haynes and BWP from my seat next to the dugouts. Shame on the club and their pathetic stewards for turning a blind eye to the nastiness. Thought racism was the biggest no-no in football but it turns out that is not the case at Millwall.

Surprised at that considering it's by the tunnel. Sat downstairs for about 20 minutes & didn't hear a single monkey chant.
  • Next time will only get upper! N every one will moan n wonder why.

I was also wondering whether that was the case, especially as they've now deleted their comments from Twitter. Although Meldrew is saying he heard individuals shouting racial jibes and I'm not going to accuse him of lying. Knowing what the nature of the comments were may shed some light though.

  • I heard a 13 year old said they looked like a fish. The boys uncle said so

    LOL

  • Sparrows Lane Lions - I think I am old enough to recognise the sound of a monkey chant! I find it hard to believe that this only happens to black Charlton players so sounds like you either have selective hearing or are in denial over what an element of your fans are like. As I have said in an earlier post, the lack of action by your stewards speaks volumes to me about the sort of club you support.
  • @oohahh

Was in a box directly behind where it all went off at the end... Clear monkey chants infront of us; followed directly by a nice creative rendition of "you're shit, and your dad's a cunt"
  • Racism at Millwall. Well I never...
  • ..................so, there are now witnesses to racist chanting on 3 sides of the ground; sounds pretty conclusive to me then! What a lovely little club that is!

    Sickening behaviour
  • Frimpong has removed his tweet. Haynes hasn't.
  • What do you get if you cross Charlton Life with Green Street?

  • Wouldn't want to be around when Uncle Lethal finds out.
  • Frimpong has removed his tweet. Haynes hasn't.

Haynes is particularly interesting because he played for Millwall on loan and could have returned there in January but opted to come to us.He is also from Peckham so as a local boy he would know the club.

  • Sparrow's, Haynes hadnt removed his twitter post when I last checked a few hours ago. I'd imagine Frimpong did while Charlton investigate. Suppose if you had Pardew as manager he would be chuffed as he doesn't believe in giving former players good receptions. Does it not seem strange to you that it's not the first and won't be the last time Black players complain about recieving rascial abuse at the Den?
  • Sparrows lane shows how little he knows about football for not recognising the best right back in the division - by a country mile I might add.

As for people being killed by flares at matches - yes it has happened - not common and mostly abroad where this idiocy is more common.
  • Surprised the spitting incident in the added on time hasn't been mentioned.
Think the ref blew a bit early as it was evident that a section of the crowd in the lower docker stand were giving abuse and spitting at two of our players waiting to take a throw in.

No, if I heard it I'd say something, considering one of our mates there is black, we'd have all said something, we didn't hear anything, you did, I ain't accused you of lying.

Yeah, didn't recognise a kid who has been playing 3rd division football for most of his career, I know nothing.
  • @CAFCsayer I was further along from where you were inbetween penalty area and halfway line and I know my immediate thought was wtf they can't be making monkey chants cos that is exactly what it sounds like so I deffo checked and it was "thief thief thief thief thief" said at 100mph and it did sound like monkey chants , followed by a rendition of" your shit and your dads a c***"
So the scum in front of where you were may have mistaken it for monkey chants and joined in with that noise

No one on this earth hates millwall more than me but I know what they were chanting in front of me

On another note my millwall mate introduced me to Les Briley who was a meet and greeter over where the boxes were and he gave me a playful dig as I said he broke my heart as a kid with his miraculous flukey 80 yard strike at selhurst all those moons ago

It happened, it was very clear to anybody sitting in or near the area, disgusting, their Directors very close to incident so would have heard if of course they wanted to!!!
