  • I'm going to miss travelling to Bournemouth - best awaydays ever here. THey have some money behind them and worth a bet to go up next year but by then we will probably be in the Premiership.

Yes...particularly liked the one from one poster who doesn't rate our centre back pairing......what an f'ing plum!!

  • Having been ill all week, still rough yesterday morning and paying for it now...WHO CARES!! What a result (not game as said before) and so glad that I made it. Was standing at the side of the concourse with a few others and went nuts when we saw the lino waving it in and heading for the half-way line. The delirium released was beautiful!!!

Then had my dad calling as we were walking back to the pub at Pokesdown telling us all the other 92nd minute goals. Is it right for a 45 year old man to have such a big childish grin after a day like that???

That's rhetorical by the way...COURSE IT IS!!!! ;-)
  • Not a polished performance but a wins a win.. Onwards.

just woke up in the hotel in Bournemouth, grinning from ear to ear! what a day, what a night! its days like yesterday that make all the heartache seem a little less painful.
a typical smash and grab, we didn't play well, and I thought arters shot was in all the way. I was out my seat down the front in Danny greens ear for that last corner reminding him he is quality, and this was or moment to nick it, send in a perfect ball, and it was a lovely delivery. went mental with everyone else, had a couple of lads jumping all over me, brilliant scenes! the bouncy bouncy! loved it! singing in the boozers, met some quality fellas last night, they were at there charming best with my aussie mate stacey! lol! had a brilliant night! love my club, love our team, love our fans! thank you to all who made my first game in 10 years one I'll never forget!

I especially like the one that said our central defensive pairing looked "mediocre".

Or how about the one that said we never troubled them, "other than score".

Now after I have calmed down I am still elated. Even a typical Charlton (or should that be football) fan, now realise we are Champions in waiting. I was working till 2pm and got n before 3pm to watch Sky. As games were going on I thought (how wrongly) that Huddersfield winning 3 nil and Sheff utd winning) I kept thinking well if we get a 0-0 draw is i the first 0 0 draw of the season? We have gained a point. A point nearer to going up and wondering how many guaranteed wins do we need to gurantee promotion? Then all of a sudden Oldham and Bury were pulling ir back and I was then thinking at least our goal difference is better than Sheff utd and Huddersfield. Then "unbeilavalbe jeff". just as Oldham and Bury were scoring i was thinking draws all round and then thinking 6 wins or less and then as per script Charlton grab a winner !! In that split second that has confimed for me that we are now CHAMPIONS in waiting.

There has been a couple of times when Charlton are playing away and I have looked at Sky seeing last min goals go in and thinking "that is season defining", but I feel when we were playing Bury at home... we were playing not to lose and had the extra pressure playing and keeping an unbeaten run going. Now watch this team go. The "shackles" will be of and they will be going into games full of confidence and playing with freedom.

I am so so gutted as I am working when we play Orient at home and i will miss that game. One of my team is going to a wedding and another on my team is going abroad on holiday. I knew I should have booked it before (I can only book 2 sats off a year and was saving em for 2 Championship games) as I know that will be the first home game that we will be guaranteed as going up (if not as Champions as well) and wanted to see the players reactions as son as this was received

I forgot to add, if that was earlier in the season I am sure both Huddersfield and Sheff Utd would not have lost those games... but pressure and all that
  • What a day! Got back about 1 this morning, Wished had booked a hotel and stayed up there. COYR
  • Great to see (and especially here) a lot of Charlton out in town and in the clubs last night! Certainly made ourselves known! On the way back to London with a mega hangover but it was worth it!

    What a great day.

Thought we were a bit rubbish by our own high standards. Don't really remember us having any chances apart from the one we scored, but as Champions of this league that's all we need.

Just getting home, got to bed at 6.30 this morning and woke up at 8.30 feel proper ropey.

Cheers to @Redarmyse7 for driving in what was absolutely torrential rain.

    Wiggy, wiggy, wiggy, wiggy.
We're champions and we know it.

  • We won.

Don't remember much of last night apart from a group of birds from Manchester and hearing "Chris Solly's fucking quality" at about 4am.
  • Just got home too after spending the night on the tiles celebrating

I still can't believe we nicked it. It had 0-0 written all over it. Then up steps green with a dangerous ball and kerm pops up to nick us the 3 points. I ran down the stairs and along the bottom and went absolutely mental. Jumped on a load of fans and some topless fella picked me up an launched me into the air. Haha. Quality celebrations.

A brown bear waved at me last night, there were restaurants that allowed you to bring your own bottles and no corkage, Henry Irving was posing as Charles 11 inside a museum, Milwall out on a stag night with a shoeless orange morph., Richard Murray was ecstatically happy, and drunken yoof were hugging us oldies. I like Bournemouth.
  • Just home, hope none of you lot were the ones shouting in the Hotel Royale at 4am ! Poor Performance great result, Solly & kermit 10 outa 10. Impressed with Bournmouth, lovely football no end result. Shame we will not be back next year.

  • CHARLTON ARE BACK, CHARLTON ARE BACK... ALLO, ALLO!!!
  • solly is such a great player, such a little fella, but just immense! mom by a country mile! can't wait for Tuesday night!
  • I thought it was a decent performance. Bournemouth worked hard for the whole 90 minutes and achieved their aim of not giving us any space in midfield in order to stop us dominating. Nonetheless, the defence once again looked solid throughout, the midfield worked hard and Stephens kept popping up to tidy up and get things moving. It wasn't a game that suited Green or BWP, but I don't think they shirked. Fittingly, Kermorgant sneaked the winner - they never managed to control him in the few chances he got to shine. We didn't deserve to win - a draw would have been fair - but we can't expect to go away and see decent teams roll over for us. Bournemouth were organised and worked hard for 90 mins.
  • Like Rudders22 posted above the battle for second spot is where all the pressure now is. We have earned the right not to have to worry if we drop a point or two. I still reckon that runners up could be any of four teams.
  • You'll not hear me complaining, but as so often, you can tell after a few minutes, how you're team is going to play. We started off sluggish & poor and it never changed.
That's the worst we've played all season & we stole the win.
    Who cares ?
Solly was excellent (not as good as on Tuesday) but still MOM.
Morrison was very good & Taylor usual solid self.
Hamer was ok and Wiggins below par.
Hollands played well, but Green & Jackson were average at best & Stephens was poor - giving it away too often & too slow.
BWP was as lazy as I've ever seen & Kermo was decent.
Poor performance, but we've played a lot of games recently & we still won.

I've been saying for months, that we have the best team, best players, best attitude & we're going up.
I think even the most miserable bugger, must now admit we are going up !

Did anyone else pick up on this comment?:
" Rumours on Twitter that a certain left back who used to play for us got a smack going down the tunnel! "

The radio commentary mentioned about 20 stewards running to an incident but had no idea what it was.
  • Radio Solent's fault. The steward's were rushing down to escort the coaches. There was no trouble in the tunnel. FACT!
  • Radio Solent's fault. The steward's were rushing down to escort the coaches. There was no trouble in the tunnel. FACT!
    Reassuring to know, thank you.
I know that it is very easy to add 2+2 and come up with the wrong answer but how do you know this Olly?
  • Think a few got on the pitch at the end so maybe why ?
  • I just got home. That was the single most horrific coach journey I've ever taken.
Rubbish game, fantastic win, mental night out.
    I like Bournemouth.
